PIERCING DISSONANCE 'PIERCING DISSONANCE' (2574)

Using dissonant vibrations of one's instrument and/or vocal chords, a skilled
bard can create such jarring, piercing sounds as to actually damage the
unprepared listener. Naturally, the bard will instinctively warn his
groupmates of the impending performance that they may remain undamaged by the
song.

Bards accustomed to boldness do best with dissonance, while those who
embrace soft musical harmonies tend to struggle with the technique.
