'THE DARK WOOD' (2840)
Near the headwaters of the Khalid River lies a dark and silent wood,
home to ragged jackals and creatures that exist only in our deepest
nightmares. Few paths wind through the moss-covered stones, fallen
trees and thorny brambles, and those that do seem to shift and change
with time and the passing of a chill breeze. Darkness and despair
cloak the forest like a thick mist, and the heavy canopy high above
the tangled forest floor absorbs more light than it allows to pass.
A realm of shadows, few come to the forest, and even fewer leave it.
