WORKSHOP 'WORKSHOP MASTER ENCHANTER' (3649)

They say the Master Enchanter was born in Hillcrest many years ago.
Legend has it that his family were craftsman, skilled at fashioning
copper and other metals into all sorts of fantastical devices. Not
armor or weapons, but creations far more intricate. Tools to tell time,
to move vast amounts of earth, to measure wind speed or the distance one
traveled. So great was their technical wizardry that many during those
days accused the family of being wizards, but it was not so.

Perhaps it was these accusations that first led the Enchanter to begin
his unorthodox studies. Records are scarce from those days, but his
name appears in the annals of some of the town's guilds. The invokers
reference his research on harnessing elemental energies to fuel his
mechanical creations, though only to explain why he was expelled from
their guild. The transmuters, on the other hand, were offended by his
probing whether their spells might be used to transmute the properties
of inanimate objects. Such unorthodox lines of inquiry did not sit well
with the staid elders of that guild.

It is easy to imagine, then, why he stuck out on his own, eventually
setting up shop some ways outside the village in order to continue his
magical research. In those days he was not yet a Master of anything; he
was just the strange little man who lived in the mountains. Only later,
after years of study, did he come to be known by that title...
