NYCRUVAE (3776)
Society is a net of debts and obligations - with 'friend' just a name for
someone likely to pay what they owe. Some gifted people do not merely
navigate the net; they weave it, entangling those around them with carefully
crafted deals and well timed generosity. They know that true power is not
seized; it is owed. Each loan a chain lightly placed, and every favor a lock
that will one day snap closed. By ensnaring others in this net, they ensure
that when they call, their debtors must answer.
Nycruvae tends the Chained Ledger, where all debts and obligations must find
their final place. It binds those recorded within it, blessing their works
definitively. As debt is the foundation of power, the Ledger aids this,
giving oaths, agreements, and contracts their divine expression. Nycruvae's
followers stay vigilant to the ebb and flow of debt around them, and take
great care to avoid assuming unintended obligation. Those who think to impose
upon them without proper compensation are met the disdain of one who has seen
divinity in the Ledger.
The followers of Nycruvae tend carefully to the power they gather, and are
always hunting for more. However, they often hide behind pretense, lest their
wants and needs be used against them. Some of Nycruvae's most successful
followers have been mistaken for ascetics - they seem to give away wealth
almost as soon as they acquire it. They do not need money, for if they wish
for something, someone is bound to provide it. And an enemy who mistakes a
lack of ostentation for weakness may learn too late that power can be flaunted
in extremely destructive and painful ways.
Those who would rise must maintain and strengthen the structure that holds
them aloft, lest they plummet into ruin. All of Nycruvae's followers
understand this, and work to maintain the rules by which they operate. Some
among them go beyond what is required, and discover their true calling in
enforcing debts, oaths, and obligations. Enforcers and bounty hunters are
held in great esteem by Nycruvae and his flock.
Nycruvae will happily ensnare anyone in his schemes. Even the lowliest
farmer, should he leave his idyllic hamlet and find himself at a crossroads in
life, can be led down a new path. However, only those who understand the
unbreakable sanctity of a contract will find him truly welcoming, and one
with existing infernal claims upon them might have little left with which to
draw his lasting interest.
Nycruvae oversees the spheres of Honesty, Wisdom, and Greed.
