Description
A face of gold-tinted ivory skin seems to reflect light around it and magnify
it. Hair of a similar shade, but far more golden, hangs down in a short pony
tail. His facial features are sharply defined, with a sharp straight nose
resting between two clear blue eyes. Above them light blond eyebrows rise to
a sharp point. Delicate and small, his mouth seems suited for small bites
only and when he smiles he reveals teeth of a brilliant white. He is tall
and skinny, but in a lithe, muscular way. His skin is soft and young, except
for his hands which appear worn and calloused.

I have achieved my primary objective, at least in part: I can use my
abilities to strongly affect the balance. Just the other day, as the red
tint of pure evil filled my eyes and the world was spinning wildly, I killed
the big orc Dakazhul and slowed the spin a little. Naturally this was a
personal pleasure for me. Those damn orcs killed my Faith Brother and I
won't forget it.
I haven't gotten to speak with Iunna lately, but I have seen Avandiss a few
times. She's such a quiet one.I will continue to seek Iunna.In the
meantime, the battle for balance continues. At various times the Fortress,
Empire, and Scions respectively have threatened to put the world in danger of
annihilation. I fight for the balance at every opportunity. It has cost me
some allies, but most realize my aid comes when they need it most. Maybe one
of these days they'll realize they wouldn't need it if they didn't try to
grow beyond their proper power.
Speaking of which, I worry about the Empire. It is in their very nature to
grow more powerful and they have a full council of powerful leaders. If that
cocky bastard Tarleton can lead them well, it could be a major blow to the
balance and lead to an all out war. So far the Key has remained untouched
except by the barbarians but they can't stop me or Izazen from getting it
back when we awaken. Izazen has become a fast friend and brother on the
Island.I expect good things to come of our friendship. I worry about the
Island's leadership as I have not seen much of the Rhyme and none of the
Meter.
Abzyn's Journal: A Beginning and an End

It's been some time since I sat down to write. Life has been so hectic since
meeting Iunna and finding a home on the Island.When I came back to my
writings on the nature of the world and of balance, I found I had nothing
more to say on the subject, so instead of writings, I will keep a journal. I
know what balance is, I have experienced in firsthand: it is battle, it is
blood, sweat, and tears.
Right now I feel the tears more than anything else. My friend, brother on
the Island, and as he liked to say, Faith Brother, Kohrzeck has passed on
from Thera. I hope his soul finds balance in the afterlife, but with enough
of a fight to keep him interested. It pains me to see him go, but it only
strengthens my resolve.The only reason I can think of for his sudden
departure is the weight of protecting Thera's balance from these lunatics was
too much to bear.
I know my brother wasn't weak. I must carry on his fight inside me, take the
embers of his fire into mine. Those who would stand against me take heed:
I'm angry now.
PS
I've managed to save a relic from my brother's body. A mere steak of what he
once was, I shall cherish it as long as I can.
Abzyn's Growth

Since meeting Iunna, Abzyn has felt the passion inside him growing and
overtaking some of his old tendencies. His scholarly nature is falling away
into a much more jovial state. He is overcome with the need to fight for
balance, even when he's pretty sure he'll fail.Try first, wonder later has
become a motto. He's found a new home in the Island, and he considers all
Nexuns family and treats them as such. He considers Kyaltaru a kindred
spirit who made the same realizations but took it a different way and is dark
and cynical. Abzyn prefers to know the struggle is endless but embraces it
wholly.
Who is Abzyn?

He's a bit more scholarly than the average wood-elf and also a bit less
passive. His take on balance is different than most. He sees it as a
constant cycle of conflict and he is ready to make that cycle his own. He is
well spoken and trusting. His parents Abbelyra and Zynathen were aloof and
never very interested in him once it became clear he wasn't quite the same as
them. They are estranged and seem quite irrelevant to Abzyn.
He's heard talk around the guild of Iunna, a goddess who grants strength to
those who want to fight for their beliefs. Sounds perfect to Abzyn. His
determination to fight is stronger than anything else in him, even the love
of nature.
An Excerpt: Balance in the World

I have observed also in the world the constant struggle for balance.
Struggle is everywhere in Thera: law against criminal, light versus darkness,
life against death. That death, which so often wins in Thera, brings about
new life in its way, completing the balance. There are many though who would
erradicate this balance if given the chance. The Tribunal who wish for law
to reign supreme and the criminal be destroyed.The Outlanders, who would do
the same to the cities if they could. Though I obviously prefer nature, I
know there is a place for the city. Nature will constantly fight against it,
and the city will fight back. The Ragers would destroy magic completely if
they could, and what a horrific loss of balance that would be. We might see
winter for years.
The examples go on and on. Down to the powerful individuals. I have seen
there are some who will stand against these aggressors on the very nature of
Thera. They call themselves the Nexus and live on a strange magical Island.
Clearly I am intrigued.If there is a fight for balance, I must join it.
Ironic, a fight to insure continued conflict. I suppose that is the way of
nature.
An Excerpt from the Writings of Abzyn: Balance in Nature

Nature is a cycle. That much is clear and easily observable. But what does
balance mean? Are nature's seasons a peaceful balance?It seems not to me.
Though my years are short I have seen enough seasons to know that sometimes a
powerful summer overtakes a weak fall.
Sometimes the grasp of hoary winter chokes the start of spring.When the
wolf kills the deer, does it not struggle? Life and death are a balanced
cycle, yet they fight each constantly like bitter enemies. Life, the body,
cannot help but struggle against death.It is natural.I have concluded
then, that balance is not peaceful, but is in fact constant conflict.
I must learn more about nature and the constant cycles.I must join the
Druid's Guild and be taught by them.
