Description

The tall and dangerous looking woman seems to glide across the ground. Her hair is bound tightly with splinters of bone and straps of engraved leathers. She is covered head to toe in laminated and coagulated blood blended with ash and earth. Wrapped around her wrists are lengths of tanned elven skin held in place over a thick ashen poultice. Small finger bones protrude from the leathers, frozen forever in a beckoning hook. The depth and opaqueness of her eyes creates an uneasy feeling about her, as if something is not as it should be. A shifting mystical complexion of darkness and shadow shimmers as it peeks through the layers of ash on her body. Earth and stone generally cover her belongings, and the coppery smell of blood mixed with soot and fire can be tasted in the air about her. Adira's power glows from within her, and you also notice that . . .

Chapter 1 - Memories

Added Mon Aug 3 22:12:11 2015 at level 1:
Chapter 1 - Memories

From the furthest reach of my mind, I could hear a distant call into
the wilderness. As if in a waking dream, I would chase through the
wood, searching for the source of the rapidly fading sound and scent.
A rustle in the wind, the scuff upon the ground, the blood in the bush.
The Hunt.

Memories which were not mine rushed through my mind, I would be
gliding through the air, back and forth, slowly descending to the ground,
freedom in letting the wind guide me, and random as the currents would
take me. I'd keep falling until...

I would awaken. Alone. Shivering on a cold stone floor. I could smell
my blood. The coppery scent lingering in my nostrils, the putrid
stink of my freshly spewn vomit filling each rancid breath I took.

My Duergar captors, chaining my pristine flesh to stained stone with mithril.
Again, the fat one waddled in, stinking of his filthy whore bitch. He would
rattle the cursed metal against my flesh and chuckle as I screamed. Did I
scream? I could not tell the difference between the shriek in my sundered
mind or the shriek...

Of a vulture circling overhead. Death lingered nearby. Memories of a
burned ground, the soft caress of ash against my skin, the scent of
blood rising in heat.

The heat against my wrists as my arms pulled the cursed metal taught
assaulted my senses. It was the quiet one this time. His beard
like iron bristles, ripping against my marred back. I shut my eyes and
willed his death, felt his shock hold him tight as his hot life
sprayed across my backside.

An ever elusive sleep came to me with a dull thud at the base of my skull.

Finally. Peace.

The Tendrils of Fate

Added Fri Aug 14 23:47:39 2015 at level 51:
The enslaved are everywhere. They walk in every path and collectively
sigh their mantra of choice - hope. They hope to hide behind their high
walls, their spires and towers. Worms slithering across the lands, their
instincts and self reliance long since vanished.

I close my eyes and within the ruin of my cleaved and sundered mind,
a voice calls to me. Become death! It shrieks. Cull the weak! Lay waste
to the cities of civilization and sow the seeds of complete chaos!

Within my haunted dreams, I see a thousands of spiders of every size
and sort, fanged and seething as they cover a land of ash and death.
Their dense web tightly wound over the bones of the fallen, so as to
weather the ages.

I awaken to find myself tangled upon the deathly web of Drehir. His
violent and crimson gaze piercing into my soul. "Death" he uttered, "a
familiar scent." Drehir pulls at the tendrils tightly as his crimson
eyes focus intently on them, and then back at Adira.

Drehir has tasked Adira to draw death to three Imperials. If, of course,
Drehir so permitted her to enjoy their death. Adira has slain many,
the Vindicator, the Marshall, the Chieftan, but it seems Imperials have
been unwilling to fall before Adira in pain.

It would be Drehir's way to so toy with her fate, to allow death to befall
so many about her, to allow the spiders bite to sink deeply...
but to keep Imperials just out of reach, taunting her ever so.

Adira has a thousand years to sow her destruction upon the lands, and
a thousand years to bring death to those Three Imperials. Ha! She hopes
Drehir permits such much sooner.

Deception for the Sun-Warden

Added Sun Aug 16 08:22:16 2015 at level 51:
Adira met the Sunwarden, Soliah this day. It appears the Sunwarden
holds something of great value to Adira. Something that would aid her
in bringing forth her visions of ash and fire.

Soliah would be unlikely to just. . . hand it over. No. A deception must
be played out. Adira cannot simply kill the Sunwarden - the gods protect
for now. . .

Adira told Soliah of her past, of her torture and memories of the
Thar-Eris. She told him of her dreams, and of how she believed the
path of the Reaver is simply unsustainable; she had memories of regrowth
and fertile lands, memories of a path through the wood where she wandered.

Adira questioned of this hell was the dream, and if she could only wake
and find the path, she would awaken to her true self. She told Soliah that
only he could lead her through this path, and did other gestures of
'kindness' to build a . . . trust. Or, I believe they call it, 'friendship'.
Through this, she _almost_ had what she wanted.

Soliah had touched Adira, normally a fatal mistake. She winced and held back
a violent recoil. She felt violated. Disgusted. If Soliah were able to be
harmed, Adira would have destroyed him right there in the tree.

The Sunwarden took this message of her memories and dreams, and believed,
Adira beleives, that she is to take steps to his precious 'light', and find
salvation through the Thar-Eris - with Soliah as her guide. Ha!!
Fool. Hope is indeed his greatest vulnerability and weakness. Adira will exploit it.

Adira plots his death, and as a spider would, spins her web about Soliah,
slowly entrapping him until it is too late. The struggle against her
deception will only entrap him more. Adira will enjoy watching him
squirm until the final moment she drives her fangs through his heart,
sucking out his blood, igniting him to ash - and taking her trophys.

When the time is right, perhaps 50 years from now, perhaps 100 years.
He will never see it coming.

Death, Fate, and Nightreavers

Added Thu Aug 27 10:40:11 2015 at level 51:
So many opportunities to slaughter Zsztyrr, but Adira
did not need to. He left his steaming remains across
the lands freely.

Adira knew she was always stronger than Zsztyrr, and
she bided her time to wait for the perfect opportunity
to betray him in a most spectacular way. Crafting such
a beautiful web that he would not see his death coming
before it was all but certain.

Trust was not Adiras strong suit. It was only a matter
of time before fate drew him into her clutches.

It appears that a culling shall not be necessary.
Weakness has revealed itself in time, and my branch
of the tree is made stronger by such.

Adiras only regret, if she could have regrets, would
be that she didnt get to kill him herself, and carry
his remains as ash in her satchel.

Adiras move now is to rule the reavers and embrace
her fate.

The Toad and Transcendence - Nightreaver

Added Fri Aug 28 10:47:01 2015 at level 51:
CROOOOOAAAAAAKKKKKK! Called the Toad. Our conversations
have been terse. There is little need between true hunters to boast
or chest beat like some uncultured brute. Death is elegant, and exact, it
requires pause to revel in its pleasure. The revered ritual of igniting

the fallen and collecting ash of their remains is a silent one to Adira.
Her breath slows as she rubs the ash over her burned and scarred
body, her latest prey giving her ample supply. Dwarves flesh and fat
render such a soft and pillowy poultice.

In the wake of the culling of Zsztyrr, old names long forgotten have
awakened to seek the power of the ancients. Weakness. These
stock reavers barely cling to their own branch and lack the
competence to wield power which is clearly beyond their
understanding to wield. They do not have the strength to
transcend their ineffectual, irrelevant lives.

The Toad asked Adira what she would give him, if she were to
rise as the Nightreaver.

They spoke of the teachings of Lord Drehir, of fate and death.
Adira told the Toad she did not seek to please him. Seeking approval
s what cow-eyed slaves wish. Acknowledgment is for the weak willed.

Instead, she only offered the Toad what she willed, which is
only what she is: Ash, Fire, Death. She told him that the culling
shall continue, fire shall burn that which stands to the ground,
and that fear shall imprison her enemies as they attempt to escape
the flames behind walls of stolen stone, and behind bars of stolen ore.
All to ash, for her satchel.

They spoke of her hate, anger, and immense pain. Endowments which
give her immense strength and resolve. Endowments which Adira
shall embrace bringing forth the wrath of the Thar-Eris. Embracing Death.

Deception, Love, and Hope with the Midnight Spider

Added Sun Sep 6 17:15:14 2015 at level 51:
The path through the darkness illuminated in Adira's
mind. She had been summons to the web of the Midnight
Spider. Blood and ash soaked her skin, caked on like
warpaint, to only keep the searing agony in check.

Where Adira walked, eventually death would follow. Her
prey frightened, and the webs woven by Adira, vast and
plentiful. Adira and Drehir spoke of her place as the
Nightreaver, and Drehir stated he would read her fate.

Drehir spoke at length with Adira of deception,
and how this powerful tool can be used for more than just
death - which is the sole purpose of Adira's plots thus far.
They spoke of the 'hook' most used by Adira, hope, and how
this powerful weapon has allowed her to ply her craft thus far.
Adira felt Drehir twisting her tendrils of fate, to see
Adira reach her fullest potential, something she has not yet tapped.

They spoke of the truths that begin each plot, and how her
instinct had led her well on her path in deception. However,
Drehir had challenged her to deceive others, without the
intention of killing them.

Adira has begun to spin her web so far on several in Thera,
some have stuck, others, fall apart quickly.

First, Miakoda has been manipulated by Adira to believe that
Adira is in love with her. They have shared tenderness and
private thoughts with each other on several occasions. Miakoda
believes that Adira is like a midnight flower, waiting to bloom.
Miakoda wrote a song for Adira, and has told her that she too,
loved Adira. A most wonderful deception. Adira is intoxicated with the possibilities.

The Harbinger, Nydfeldt, is another Adira has begun to spin her web
about, as well as the Sunwarden Soliah. Slowly, Adira probes them for
weakness and brings them both deeper into her deception.

She has used the prophecy of the tailed star to fuel conflict within
the Inn of the Eternal Star, however, Daphedee is most rightfully so,
untrusting of Adira.

Adira continues to test her webs and find new ways to weave deception
into all of her interactions - with everyone.
Ever the beautiful spiderling she is, in all her words and deeds, she
becomes more and more dangerous, unpredictable, and deadly. Clearly the
strongest of her branch, and of the tree.

Adira, The Sunwarden

Added Sun Sep 6 18:48:07 2015 at level 51:
In a ploy to corrupt Fvilar, an applicant to the Tree, Adira
impersonated the Sun Warden - well - the best she could.

Manipulating and convincing the young shaman that their
place within the tree could be secured by proving they would
defend it against the paladin tribunal was elaborate, and
a beautiful deception.

Adira employed many of the tactics her and Drehir had spoke of, and
she worked her web to convince Fvilar that in order to
prove he was willing to defend the tree, he had to slay
a commoner of the city of Voralian. That this commoner
was not innocent, but a piece of the machinery that fueled
the oppression of the free and innocent across Thera.

Divine intervention interceded as the Greenhoof came to
rescue the Shaman's soul from certain damnation, using
Adira's ploy to in fact, bring the young Shaman into the tree
and grant him a branch to rest his feeble, soon to be, skeleton.

Surprisingly, the Toad felt that Adira should not meddle with
would-be Warders, and that they would wander off their own path.
While that would be the 'nice' thing to do, it is more certainly a little
more enjoyable to aid them in their own destruction, especially
with a beautiful deception.

Any Warder of the tree worth their salt would have instinct enough
to know whom they were, or were not speaking with.

There was talk of the Greenhoof penetrating Adira with his
non-antler for her meddling, but that was left for another day...

The Lich and the Giant

Added Wed Sep 23 13:59:00 2015 at level 51:
Lies are founded upon the smallest of truths. Drehir had
taught Adira well, and she continued to work her craft, and
work those who are the benefactors of her lessons. She had
learned to spin her web in subtle and devious ways, her
methods more refined and translucent.

There was no doubt in Adira's mind that the Dreadlords rise had
brought Gaspare to question his success, or failures as an Emperor.
Adira had not seen Gaspare in quite some time, she gathers he
had been searching in silence for his items in the becoming,
knowing his success or failure depending entirely upon their
recovery.

In his absence, the giant Sodsob had grown in strength immeasurably,
the dull cows of Thera throwing themselves at him like fools. Even
those of the tree, their instincts forgotten, have felt the need to
feed his demonic power. In any event, this was something the Emperor
could no longer ignore.

From within the dimensions, Adira had begun to spin her web
and had told Gaspare the whispers of Sodsob's plot to overthrow
him, and in a moment of weakness, strike out at Gaspare and
take his items of power, thereby preventing his transformation.
A completely plausible reality, a completely believable tale.

Gaspare tried to swindle the truth behind her voice in the shadows,
enticing her to reveal herself. She told him more of what she had
overheard in secrecy, and that she would contact him again when
the time was right. Adira then vanished back into the wilderness
never being known to the world.

Adira spun her web to sow enough seeds of doubt to at the very
least, place a barrier of mistrust between Gaspare and Sodsob. Not long after,
Sodsob was forced to give an amulet of great power to Gaspare. Perhaps
as a symbol of loyalty due to Adira's deception, perhaps not. One
that the giant might have failed, leading to his, or the liches,
encumbrance.

Adira continues to attempt to find ways to bring both Sodsob and
Gaspare death, twisting the tendrils of their fate with her plots
and ploys. Time will tell how they shall both meet their ends,
if not by her hands in some manner, by the results of her deception.

Adira upon Maturity

Added Wed Sep 23 19:31:17 2015 at level 51:
Adira has aged some since her vibrant youth, and her maturity is reflected
in the way she presents herself to the world.

The tall and dangerous looking woman seems to glide across the
ground. Her hair is bound tightly with splinters of bone and
straps of engraved leathers. She is covered head to toe in
laminated and coagulated blood blended with ash and earth.
Wrapped around her wrists are lengths of tanned elven skin
held in place over a thick ashen poultice. Small finger bones
protrude from the leathers, frozen forever in a beckoning hook.

The depth and opaqueness of her eyes creates an uneasy feeling
about her, as if something is not as it should be. A shifting mystical
complexion of darkness and shadow shimmers as it peeks through
the layers of ash on her body. Earth and stone generally cover her
belongings, and the coppery smell of blood mixed with soot and fire
can be tasted in the air about her.

Adira's power glows from within her, and you also notice that . . .

The Nightreaver and the Midnight Spider

Added Tue Oct 6 17:54:04 2015 at level 51:
Adira could sense the time was near. She reached into the inky
blackness of the seeing pool, searching for the tendrils that she
could grasp to take what was hers. Moments later, the nightmarish
ancient called her to the tree.

The Midnight Spider gazed at her, covered in ash and blood of the
many who had fallen. The scent of death hung in the air, palpable.
Were there any bloom to be seen, it would have withered at their
sight.

Drehir was pleased with the web she had woven, and as a
newfound power coursed through Adira's veins, she knew that it
was only the beginning. Many have fallen to her vicious bite, and
those who would cower in the civilized world, huddled together en
mass, feared the darkness. They feared Death. Adira and Drehir
spoke of the reaver branch, and how she would pull the more
vicious and savage hunters to it, culling the weak, and sharpening
the instinct of the few true to their heart.

She had been named the nightreaver, at last.

Her desire for fire and ash grew, and in addition to the obliteration
of the Sun-Warden's branch, Adira saw fit to cull the weakness of
the Harbinger branch - especially those whose instincts had failed.
Adira even had opportunity to exploit another of the reaver branch.
She relied on a early deception in her youth of a ranger she had
met, named Utereen. Utereen had trusted Adira, and did as she
demanded.

Upon the slaying of the Dreadlord Sodsob, Utereen had gained
the Mask of Anazu. Adira demanded the mask, and Utereen, in his
weakness, handed it over without protest; she decided to keep it.
Utereen protested and demanded a fight. Adira gave it to Utereen,
and sent him fleeing, breaths from death - twice. Utereen then saw
it fit to attack Adira within the tree. Drehir left it to Adira to decide
Utereen's fate.
Instead of casting him aside, Adira was pleased with his anger. A
clear and transparent deception so easily entrapped Utereen and
he was now her toy, to be played with at her whim. His anger
useful against the world, so he could burn it more effectively. But
yet, Adira plotted his death - he would fall still. Not for his
weakness, but to remind him that his death can be hers at her
pleasure.

The Deadly Mark of the Midnight Spider

Added Tue Oct 6 17:58:56 2015 at level 51:
Adira continued to weave all she had ever claimed she ever was;
Fire, Ash, and Death. She took her time, weaving her web, luring
in her prey until the timing was right to strike - assuring she would
have the pleasure of enjoying their death, and sinking her
venomous fangs into their flesh.

At times, her satchel of ash overflowed with the downy soft
poultice of elf flesh.

The Lich Gaspare raided the tree to attempt to kill Adira. In
defense, the enraged ranger Utereen, and the Warder Vallanar.
Adira knew the Emperor would not stay long, and she plotted the
death of the Warder eagerly.

Gaspare fled far from the wood, drawing the ranger in chase.
Adira waited in the darkened wood. Utereen called in case of the
Lich, and Vallanar, the hero, leapt from the tree landing, as she
predicted, directly into the sweeted spot of her web.

Oh, how she made Vallanar suffer. He convulsed so painfully that
his teeth shattered in his mouth, his innards spewing forth from his
broken, open gob, blood squired from his empty eye socket where
Adira had smashed his skull with her staff. She uttered the words,
"suffer", as she took the last of his life from him.

Oh how he did protest. His wails of agony and anger did so excite
Adira. His cries of treachery and betrayal made her so pleased.
There is no quarter for warders. None. They shall draw no breath.

The Midnight Spider, pleased, enjoyed the spectacle, and the
savagery of her instinct. The cunning bitch, he must have thought.
Upon her flesh Drehir imparted a piece of his deathly soul.
Running through her veins courses a powerful venom, one
perhaps as likely to kill her, as to grant her power. The Midnight
Spider raw and bloody, soaked in ash upon her flesh. It speaks to
her often, the web they weave together ever so expansive and
detailed. Together, in death, they share in the pleasure Drehir
gives to her.

Adira is sure to keep her fed, so her tastes do not stray
far from Adira's liking.

The Sunwarden, Warders, and Strienant's anger

Added Tue Oct 6 18:08:28 2015 at level 51:
Adira's plots to slaughter the Sunwarden, and all the intricate silk
she had spun to entrap him, have been left unfulfilled. The
Sunwarden has faded into the wilderness, his influence completely
removed from the tree.

That is not enough. Adira slaughters the Warders indiscriminately.

Valdifer, once a nightreaver himself, was chasing Sodsob into a
trap set by a Warder. PAH! Adira planned to kill Valdifer shortly for
this disgusting display of weakness. Reavers do not do anything
with Warders, other than violently end them. Valdifer has let them
be safe for far too long. His weakness shall be his end.

A fatal mistake. The Warder Orodron made the error of informing
Valdifer where to drive his prey, where he was ready to snare, and
Adira used this information to make her strike.

Adira twisted Orodron violently upon the open waters. The blood
ran through the oceans, and the warder did howl, "you are in
league with the Imperials!" How wonderous. She enjoyed every moment.

Adira did enjoy his anger and protest, but not as much as she
enjoyed setting his body on fire, and collecting his ash for her
satchel. How perfect a storm giant's body is at providing ash.

The Warders continue to be hunted into extinction, their branch
continues to shrivel into oblivion. The weak, culling themselves of
this world, trying to escape her web, trying to escape death.

There will be no relief. There will be no peace. There will be only
death for the Warders. Death and Ash. Adira's vision of the
Thar-Eris has zero room for the weak, the enslaved, the foolish.

Adira will enjoy listening to Strienat shake his oh so mighty
greenhooves, stomping in frustration as Adira dismantles and
severs his frail, dying, failing branch from the tree permanently.
His anger and frustration shall please her, as it always has, and
more importantly, shall be enjoyable to the Midnight Spider.

The Mask of Anazu

Added Tue Oct 6 18:16:51 2015 at level 51:
The ancients are displeased, whispered a familiar voice from the
darkness. The nightmarish ancient voice of Drehir echoed through
the caverns of the Underdark where Adira rested. You must
choose, the mask, or the refuge - you cannot have both,
whispered the voice.

Adira has what so very few do have, choice. The dull cow-eyed
warders do not possess true freedom, the harbingers nearly
scratch the surface, and only when their instinct is sharpened
through the threat of death from the Reavers. Adira has seen
these false paths, she has gained vision through her own eyes
reflected within the pool of seeing to understand that her greatest
strength is choice.

Adira told Drehir she would be upon their cave presently, she had
longed to return as it were. Drehir mused that Adira had called it,
"their" cave. Oh yes, she was clever. The dark lessons of the
Midnight Spider have always endowed her with greater prowess
and power. Not once had the ancient failed to guide her to greater
strength.

Drehir had taught her that while many objects of this world, worn
by Knights, Empresses, and Golems are inconsequential, the
magic of the Mask of Anazu is ancient, and infernal. While dark
magic is not to be shunned, this demonic magic often comes at
the cost of souls, and as such, is unnatural. Gaining this
knowledge Adira made her choice.

Within the darkness of the cave, she removed the mask so
coveted by all of Thera, and placed it into the inky blackness of the
seeing pool. As it slipped beneath the surface, Drehir swirled his
hands within the pool, strumming the tendrils as he did so,
dissolving the reflective copper into nothingness.

Drehir told Adira of the source of power within the pool, and of
how a novice of fate would pull at the tendrils to see merely
fragments. These fragments oft read incorrectly, would sometimes
lead to death. The midnight spider told Adira that as she began to
understand this power, her own ability to grasp the fragments she
saw would become clear and fate would lead her to bring death to
those she hunted, or, perhaps, to her own death. With a sinister
grin, Drehir vanished into the darkness, the skittering of
spiderlings echoing off the cavern walls as the midnight spider
upon her neck pulsing and caressing her ever so gently.

Masticator of Soft Flesh

Added Tue Oct 20 20:01:47 2015 at level 51:
The incessant bleating of the sheep continued throughout
the tree. No Sun-Warden had been named, but all of the
new warders, fresh and naive from their fledgling hovels,
believed that they could be the one. Adira knew the scent of
fear well; the warders bathed in it. She would dispatch of them
all, one by one.

Adira had been named the masticator of soft flesh after she
annihilated a warder slave. All too quickly Yuno had declared that
Adira would go blind from such an act; she would rip his soft flesh
out for certain. Perhaps she did more dismembering than she realized,
destroying and rending the flesh of her prey to ash for her satchel.
She enjoyed her ritual, one she has done countless times. The setting
ablaze of the bodies, the collection of the ash. The midnight spider upon
her neck having tasted the flesh of many.

Adira has decided it was time to declare war upon the Scarabs. For too
long she has endured the insufferable proselytizing of the Temple. Their
will was nothing; a faint broken facade of true freedom. Always seeking
implicit ratification from their "father". So similar to the warders and their
worship of the hooved one; their instinct equally weak and flawed.

To sweeten the pact, she could draw the temple duergar into her web.
Oh how she hungered to turn his disrupted body to ash; she had come
to enjoy the soft poultice of ash the duergar provided.

Adira convinced the Harbinger that his vote counted for a Sun-Warden
and they decided, as forced to do so by the ancients, that they would
war with the Scarabs. It was not long after that the Greenhoof decided
such a thing could not occur without his approval; ever the controlling
beast he was. Greenhoof had stated that the withering Warder branch
was now equal to that of the Reaver. Adira would have to see to that.

Adira will entice the Reavers to hunt the Warders using all weapons in
their disposal, and upon the lessons the Midnight Spider had given to her:
their savage instincts, the well-spun deceptions, and their hunger for destruction.
She has penned a missive to the Reavers for this ploy . . .

The destruction of the Warders.

The Warder War

Added Tue Oct 20 20:16:57 2015 at level 51:
A blood-stained bark covered in ash entices your gaze

Reavers,

The time to hunt is upon us. Weave your deceptions about the fledgling
warders and entice them into your web. Start slowly, and ply your craft
against their pathetic hopes. Tell them of your desire to overthrow the
Nightreaver, perhaps that my hunting of them is a an affront to the Thar-Eris.
Whatever web your instincts guide you to spin, set it upon their weakness.
Set the trap, and pin your anxiety upon the possibility that the spiderling
might hear.

Lure them to where death is certain. Under the waves, cancel their breathing;
to a place where they cannot return home, and set upon them with savage
brutality; to an awaiting hunter set in the perfect place. Show them death,
and bring them suffering. Skin their corpses and leave the rest, so they
know that you hunted them for the pleasure of their pain and hides alone.

Those of you who do not wish to participate in this war, may choose not to.
Know that I shall cull the weakness from the Reaver branch with an equal
ferocity; there is no place upon it for impotence, only the embodiment of death.

Nightreaver

Bloody Shackles

Added Wed Dec 9 20:03:32 2015 at level 51:
It had not been long since Adira had stood before the filth king to slay him,
his slaves troublesome enough to deter many she had brought to his throne.
Adira had taken pleasure in killing so many of the duerg in her quest to obtain
the Bloody Shackles - as an added bonus, the fool Harbinger had died several
times to her own stupidity. Her blood soaked the ground, mixing with that of the
duerg swine.

In her quest Adira had slain nearly every dark-elf and dirt-dwarf in the Underdark.
Whispers from The Ancients had led her to this very place firstly, her instincts
sharp and keen. This battle she saved for last, to savor every groan that issued
from every twisted duergar's mouth as she prepared their mangled flesh for the

After manipulating Scrange, a foolish Nexun, but rather useful armadillo into
aiding her alongside her reavers. She landed the final blow upon the King, and
sneakily snared the shackles quickly before any would notice they existed.

At this time, however, Adira was no longer the Nightreaver, as she had
apparently brought Arauld, a lightwalking ranger into the tree. Funny, she
thought. He spoke to her as a Reaver would, and carried on as a Reaver would.
The Midnight Spider had caught on to Arauld's deception, and burnt his branch
as a betrayer, as well casting Adira from her place as Nightreaver.

After the King had died and given up what the ancients sought, she called to the
Reavers of the Tree, Faldor and Tanzer. She told them that if they wanted her
place as the Nightreaver, they were to take the shackles to the ancients. Adira
then revealed that she had obtained what she desired.

She told them that the hunt was on, and if they desired her place, they would
need to take the shackles from her bloody corpse.

They failed as she knew they would. Adira slaughtered one, and the other nearly
fell several times. The Reavers knew their place, even if they hungered for more.
When the time came that Adira was not strong enough, she would expect them to
kill her, and take her power for themselves. That day had not yet come. She
enjoyed their savage instincts, their ferocity. She had driven them and honed
their instincts well, their darkness, their freedom.

Ensaring a God in my Web

Added Wed Dec 9 20:11:06 2015 at level 51:
Arauld had to pay with blood, that much was certain, but how? The gods protected him from
Adira and she sensed he feared to grow too strong lest he taste her wrath. She needed to
weave a web of deception in order to end the betrayer. Something she has done before.

Catching him out of the weeds she made him an offer. She was angry, she said, hurt by the loss
of her position as Nightreaver. She sought revenge upon the tree and would he help her? He said he
would, but Adira's words were heard by other, more powerful ears.

As she browsed the tomes of an underground library, the voice of Emnon, the mummy lord
spoke to her. He offered her power. He offered her vengeance. She feigned interest, careful not
to seem to eager. She told the Unspoken one of her plan to end the Harbinger, and the
Sunwarden. Truths, as the Midnight Spider had taught her, the hook of hope. Her deceptions
grew and her web spread vast enough to ensnare the god Emnon to bring her the promise of
power. How delightful. The Midnight Spider will be pleased.

She spoke to Arauld, and claimed to be a true follower of the newly risen mummy. Together
they would seek what Emnon had tasked her with. Arauld was deeply mistrustful, but she spun
her web faster and told him things that only one of Emnon's true faithful would know, only one
that had gazed upon the Mummy Lord as Adira had, would know. He agreed to meet her to aid
with her plans to please the Unspoken One.

But, alas, her reputation as a betraying murderous bitch preceded her and he would not follow
her, wishing to only follow behind her. The plan was ruined and she could not lead him to his
death. The mummy fumed, Adira laughed, and Arauld, sadly lived out the remainder of his short,
sad life without knowing the pain of meeting Adira on the field of battle.

After being played for a fool, not a King, Emnon cloaked himself and
disappeared without another word.

The Twilight Nightreaver

Added Wed Dec 9 20:20:09 2015 at level 51:
The Midnight Spider gazed at Adira. Pleased, yes. Except for that
bit with Arauld. She had done well in her life, culling the weak, driving
fear into others, burning their havens. The Midnight Spider had one more task for
her, to reclaim her place as Nightreaver, so she may at last die and see her web
for all it has become.

Reaping the heads of the Tribunal. Adira had hunted them as any other before,
but it was now with special hatred that the Midnight Spider wished Adira assault
the Spire. Hatred the likes of which she had only for the Duergar would she then
turn to their tower of stolen stone.

Upon each waking, her drive to deprive the Spirelings of their lives and scales
had been her purpose. She took the scales, slaughtered their provincials and
brought havoc to their blazing cities. Within the tree she planted the seeds
of discord with the Sunwarden and the soon to be Harbinger, Glutch. She had
turned many of that branch against the Warden, and this pleased her greatly.

She slaughtered Imperials along the way with great pleasure. Sending the pitiful
Duergar Warmaster fleeing to a coward's death had been particularly fulfilling.
How she enjoyed watching his blood soak the ground. Adira had developed a
particular affinity for duergar ash. Their soft flesh cauterized with fear and pain
made a wonderful poultice.

It would not be long now before Drehir descends upon her and allows others to
see her as he does, and what her beautiful deathful mind has created.

Her body is failing rapidly, and while she feels the end drawing near, she knows it
to be her fate. At last, her deathful web, full of deceit and lies would be known to
all. And most importantly, Adira might finally come to realize the beauty of what
she had woven, at last.
