Description

Gazing upon this arial, the tan color of his feathers is quickly noted. He is lean and long of leg, feathered form covered in toned muscle. The white eyes are easily noticed to be rather distinct from the wheat colored small feathers that cover the rest of his body and face. A very sharp plume of long feathers runs over the center of this arials head. His beak is prominent though it is chipped rather evidently in a few places. He is covered in a variety of armors, and as you continue to examine him, you notice that the full length of his right forearm and hand is covered is horrid scars. No feathers grow where the scars are, and the thin skin cracks and bleeds in places. Studying the rest of this arial, you notice that.

The Aruk'kal

Fierce northern winds swept across the light mountain wheat, causing it
to ripple much like a crashing wave of the sea. Two twirling figures stood
a stark contrast to the dancing crop. Their feathered wings beating to
propel them away from each other, or towards each other in defense and
attack alike. Before long their play was done and the son limped along
with his father's graceful walk, another night of bruises would be his
prize for another day of lessons.

Aruk'kal was the clan name of this remote arial tribe, located far to the
northeast of Udgaard. Aruk'kal were not a widely known tribe, though the
local rumors of them spoke volumes. They took full pride in being capable
of living off of the land, with their hands and the simple tools they
fashioned from what they hunted. Leg bone scythes for cutting the wheat,
simple wood cudgels for hand milling the crop once it is gathered. They put
stock in themselves, their abilities, and what they understood. What the
Aruk'kal did not understand though, was the wide expanse of mystic and
divine powers. It was rather common for mothers of Hillcrest to tell their
children horror stories relating to the arials burning and drowning well
spoken adventurers who had accidentally stumbled into the lands of the
Aruk'kal.

Akedeh's trained daily, when he had completely all of his chores of course.
His father had recently began outlining the mechanics of fighting the sick
ones. Making sure Akedeh understood that their head is where the disease
infected them the most. Light quick strikes to the vulnerable areas about
the head was said to shake the sickness, there is no true cure for it but
enough vibration to the head could still the survival instincts within the
infection. The simple wooden cudgel was a staple in this technique, and the
weapon that Akedeh became familiar with to do what he could to save Thera
from the spread of disease.

The depths of dedication.

This day would change the course of Akedeh's life forever. As he twisted,
parrying the quick sure strikes of his father's weapon, the sea of wheat
rolling all about them. Two quick deflections and then a snapping strike,
his cudgel slicing so quickly through the air. Just then his fathers foot
caught and he stumbled forward, his face moving directly into the path of
Akedeh's not so practice weapon. That moment, death dancing on the air,
Akedeh's father opened his mouth and a blast of green flame engulfed the
cudgel and the very arm of Akedeh! The cudgel crumbled to ash before it
even had passed through the sickly flame, and the young son fell to the
dirt writhing back and forth on his hand to put the flame out.

Weeks of pain, self loathing, and utter contempt swallowed Adekeh's soul.
The days when the hurt in his right arm was not so vicious as to make him
squirm in agony, his thoughts could only encompass the depths disgust he
had for his own dad. This must be why his mother had ended her own life,
it wasn't because of the depths of depression that knowing the disease
spread. Adekeh rolled these thoughts through his mind for weeks before he
was strong enough to act. All in a single night he gathered what he needed
to survive, maps food and water, he gathered his cloths and his weapons.
Then, in the dead of night he slid into his fathers room and with a single
tear in his eye, he drew the dagger across the neck of that man whom he had
held in so much admiration.

The foul pestilence is everywhere. It infects everything. The spreading
endemic proliferating every essence of existence. This solitary realization
drives Adekeh with near blinding focus. His absolute determination to
eliminate the spreading contagion lest Thera as a whole falls victim to the
infection. The depths of his determination were realized as the dagger slid
across his fathers throat. He would sacrifice everything, even his very soul,
to still the spread of what he called the trial.
