Description

The sturdy dwarf before you is, for the most part exactly what you would see of any of his kind. His weathered face is covered nearly entirely by a long thick beard, which is a deep bronze in color. His arms and legs are short and stocky, as is the rest of his frame. The only oddity about him is his garb, as he is wearing mismatched clothing of someone that would normally study the arcane arts. But it has all been altered in some way, to let out something obviously far too tight for his girth, or rolled up for something far too long for his limbs.

Role

Fade to Black

Added Tue Jan 28 13:55:45 2014 at level 5:
Ammon was born hating magic. His family, the BronzeBeard clan, was one of a
long line of well regarded BattleRagers and he was meant to be one as well.
He lived the life of a one meant for the Village, and it was all he'd ever
wanted, he dreamt at night of the day that he would have his first chance to
kill a mage, purging the world someone who chose to taint themselves with the
filth of magic. One of his proudest days, was when his father came home for a
short leave of duty, and with him he brought a loaded pack of various items.
"They be tainted wit' magic mah boy!" his father told him. Frowning with
confusion Ammon looked at the things with disgust and pushed them away
roughly. Guffawing at the reaction, his father went on. "Aye! Aye! Mah boy,
them be filth. But ahm thinkin yer old enough now that yer kin meet Tahren."
And his father explained more about the Noldarian smith Tahren and how he
could destroy items holding magic within them in a way that magi themselves
would find it harder do magic. And that this was the same one he would go to
when the time came that he had killed his own magi and was ready to be known
as a villager to be be.

Excited, Ammon set out alone, the large pack of magical things slung over one
shoulder. He descended the mountain quickly and was making his way through a
large field of rocks and brambles when his foot caught on one and the
weight of the sack of magical goods pulled him further off balance and he
toppled forward. His head struck hard on boulder and everything went
black as he rolled down the hill into a large group of brambles.

He lay in the brambles for a week, slipping in and out of consciousness and
having just barely enough wit to eat and drink when his body screamed at him
that he needed to, but he was oblivious to the efforts of his family as they
tried to find him, making the trip back and forth countless times from
Akan to the Village in the south looking for him. When his head healed enough
that he was finally able to wake and stay conscious, he looked around the
bramble pit and had no idea who he was, or what he was doing there.

Pointed the Wrong Direction

Added Tue Jan 28 14:57:04 2014 at level 7:
Scrambling to his feet in the brambles, Ammon looked around trying to figure
out what was going on. He didn't know anything, even his name or where he
came from. Spotting a small figure walking along the path in the distance, he
called out, stopping them and he pulled himself and the sack that was lying
nearby out of the brambles and up close to the sparse path.

Meeting the stranger, who turned out to be a gnome, Ammon had a painful
exchange with them of trying to figure out who he was, or what he might have
been doing in the brambles. The gnome was clearly bored with the exchange,
and trying to extract himself from what he assumed was a crazy dwarf, when
Ammon found a small note inside the sack. Pulling it out, he read it aloud:
"With regards, Garhmon BronzeBeard." As he spoke the name BronzeBeard, the
gnome let out a shout of alarm and started to back away slowly, recognizing
the family name where Ammon still did not. Seeing the confused look on
Ammon's face, the gnome stopped and suddenly changed his manner. Ammon, still
bewildered and confused, was then fed a story of how the gnome had heard of
the name BronzeBeard, and lamented to have to tell him that he feared that
his was the clan that had all but been wiped out. He told Ammon of how a
group of crazed barbarians known as BattleRagers had attacked his family in
the north and slain them all. He told him he must be the one that had
escaped, known as Ammon, which the gnome had heard was missing with all the
recent searching in the area. Finally, indicating all of the magical items in
the sack, the gnome told Ammon that his was a family of dwarven mage
sympathizers, and that he believed that Ammon was the one he had heard of,
the one that was a meant to be the first of the lost dwarven magi. With that,
he told him to travel to Galadon, and to find the guild of invokers there.
Once he arrived, he was to tell them he was Ammon BronzeBeard, and he had
arrived to begin his training as an invoker.

Completely confused, Ammon did as he was told. He didn't remember anything to
know how foolish the story was, and the laughing he heard from the gnome as
he walked off only left him more confused. Making the trek down out of the
foothills of the mountains, he asked for directions to Galadon, and finally
arrived at the guild of invokers there. Walking up to the guard, he told them
he was there to begin his training, and that is name was Ammon BronzeBeard.
He was met with a shocked expression and the guard took a step away, staring
cautiously at the young dwarf. He thought for a moment, and finally called
into the guild to be joined by a robed figure from within the guild. They
exchanged some whispers and looked back at Ammon at the mention of his name,
BronzeBeard, and finally the new figure stepped closer. "Yes, Ammon, we have
been....expecting you. We know well of this sack of goods you carry for us
Balance."

Role notes and Character Traits:

Added Tue Jan 28 15:59:30 2014 at level 9:
For starting out, Ammon has no idea of his past, and completely accepts the
fact that his family was killed by BattleRagers and he was destined to be one
of the first dwarves to return to the guild of invokers. A lot of what he was
told made sense, as he felt strong unexplained emotions rise within him at
the mention of the BattleRagers and of magic, but with his amnesia he
interpreted the feelings backwards.

I'll let the progression of the role have a lot of options open, from never
knowing who he truly was, all the way to knowing exactly who he used to be
and struggling with the fact that he became what he was raised to destroy.

A lot of Ammon's character will show that he doesn't remember anything since
waking up.
He hates the Village, thinking they killed his family
Sphere magic is related to his strong emotions about magic, which he grows to
love in his training even if he learns the truth.

Knowing the Truth

Added Fri Feb 7 14:43:02 2014 at level 24:
In a meeting with the Meter, one half of the leadership of the Nexus Island,
the story of how Ammon came to become an invoker elicited some suspicions of
the true story of what happened. Much later, Ammon still thought on these
suspicions, and frequented the abandoned invoker guild in Akan in a vain
attempt to learn the truth for his own piece of mind. While there, he prayed
to Twist, the God of Magic, hoping to find the chance to learn more from him
and also to perhaps fill something in the way of a void he felt, seeing how
he was in ways an being from another age.

A short time later, Twist appeared unexpectedly while Ammon was studying.
They talked, and Twist did something to peer into Ammon's memories. The
process was excruciating for the dwarf, but effective, and Twist was able to
confirm the Meters' suspicions in detail. Ammon was thankful to know, and
although he didn't appreciate being fooled, he mentioned to Twist that he
would buy the one that fooled him a drink for putting him on this new path.
Twist mentioned perhaps watching Ammon more, and then disappeared in a a
blink.

13 7 An Immortal An Immortal added 1500 exp for: Nice twist on the standard dwarven battlerager tale, lets see how he gets on with it. I plan to set his beard on fire at some point!
23 52 Twist Had sent me an email wanting some Twisteraction, so he got it. Unfortunately for him (possibly) that meant Twist revealing (sphere Honesty) the truth about his past.
23 52 An Immortal An Immortal added 200 exp for: Little interaction per the above comment. Looks like he's going to stick with being dwarvoker. We'll see how it goes.
