Description
Topping out at around five and a half feet tall this slightly built
fellow seems to flow with grace held in reserve as if conserving energy
for a long march. His silver hair, now streaked with a touch of black,
spills down his back held away from his eyes by a simple leather tie.
Ebony skin reminiscent of the dark elves is marred by unusual white
specks spread about his skin like freckles and a rather strangely
assorted collection of scars which stand out pale against the rest of his
skin. A ready smile is matched by amethyst eyes that look a bit worn and
haggard, but still carry a mischievious gleam of those to whom serious is
a foul word.
His armor and weapons seem to be well taken care of, shining brilliantly
with what had to have been many hours of polishing. His clothing, a cut
or two above your average soldier, must repel dirt for there is nary a
spot or smudge to be seen. You smell a faint hint of cedar as he passes.
Role
It was a dark and stormy night...

Perhaps it should be once upon a time, but he was told it really was a
dark and stormy night when he was taken into the household of
wandering tradesmen as an infant. A flash of lightning reflectng off a
tuft of silvery hair drew attention where it normally would not have.
Angynn was found along the river seeming left for the elements to finish.
His cries drowned out by the violent fury of the storm ravaged river.
Only his nearly metallic hair saved him from death and so he avoids
cutting it, nearly as protective of his hair as a dwarf would be his beard.
Which road to follow.. or I'm making this up as I go.

Angynn's 'father' was a trader, moving goods up and down Voralia's Tears
primarily, but occasionally travelling to far flung places to gather or
sell specialty items. Though they were a merchant family, money was not
the priority for them, helping people who needed something was. Profits
were made to keep the family thriving, but many a trip would be to bring
medicinal herbs to someone who needed it, the money gathered for which
was more to appease the pride of the buyer and not for gain. Most
expected the 'familty' to go broke any moment, but while they were never
truly weathly, Angynn's 'family' never lacked either.
The day came when it was expected of a young man of his breeding to take
an apprenticeship and learn the ways of a trade. Angynn chose the
paladin's guild rather than a more traditional occupation. Service to the
light was the path for him. The paladins took him in and taught him their
ways and more importantly their code. A few years later it was time for
him to be set his feet on a more specific path, for he had learned that
while all of the paladins were in service to the light, they each walked
that path a different way. It was time for him to choose the way he would
walk his path.
A knight errant on the loose.

After working out how best to serve the light Angynn saw that rather than
hunting the wicked, or avenging the fallen of the light, he would be
better used as a lantern in the dark. Hopefully he can show someone the
path, or at least shed enough light to let others keep thier feet when
thier souls walk treacherous terrain.
He decided to seek the blessing of the Lady Padwei. Then, the lady
willing, to seek out the halls of the fortress as a scribe, and perhaps
one day an acolyte. Though these are all a long way off, his first step,
gaining her blessing has been accomplished. Whatever happens from here on
out, currently he is off on an idealistic crusade of good deeds, and
learning more of the ways of his guild.
An Accident...
Added Sun Jun 26 16:00:52 2011 at level 20:
With the intent of calling mending down on an ally, Angynn accidentally
struck him, and fled immediately. Though no lasting harm was done to the
shifter, who dismissed the matter with ease, the cost to Angynn was
greater, and he seeks a way to attone for the mistake. If the cost is to
be stripped of the Lady's blessing So be it, and he will seek to earn it
again.
Player's note: It was a mistyped alias, though negligence is as harmful
at times as purpose so however you
want to play it, I'll roll with it.
Just a little update.

After wandering the lands for a while he decided on spending some time
studying with the monks of Moudrilar's Monastery. Though they tend to
balance, they have much wisdom to share. Returning his wandering some
time later, he poked his nose too far into the dream and was lost to the
rest of us for a while. Finally pulling himself back to the solid realms
he got himself back on track and had himself a conversation with Acolyte
Jallastan, which he felt went fairly well. Once again though curiosity
catches up to him, wandering too far into the abandoned encampment, he
ran afoul of some creatures, since he detected no taint on them he
frantically tried to flee the scene before it got out of hand and ended
with him fallen only to waken beside the altar of his home... again.
Belated news.

Much has happened with our intrepid adventurer since he was last written
about. After fumbling about with unfamiliar skills for some time, he
begins to fare a little better in battle. Though some think it unseemly
he is polite to even the darkest of creatures, you never know when a
small kindness will grow from tiny seed to great tree. He had a long
conversation with the Lady Padwei that ended with him within the walls of
the fortress, but given the gift of sharing his hope with others through
the hand of Padwei. Once within the halls of the Fortress though things
became very busy. A nonstop slide down a winter-shrouded mountain on a
shield not knowing if the scream tearing from your lips is exhilaration
or fear, that sort of busy. Last but certainly not least is a sad moment
for finally having to put one of the dark down. Though there is always
hope, perhaps that hope will grow in the next life. He could have let the
anti-paladin flee at the end, but the fellow was known to strike and
retreat often. He ended his time after falling and it is hoped his soul
will find its way into the light.
Once more into the breech...

After getting a few of his bretheren to talk about themselves things have
gotten hectic for our young adventurer. Long odds and dilligent foes hold
the orb for long periods of time. Too many mistakes and corpses abound...
mostly his own. A plucky little fellow though, he seems like he'll keep
banging into the wall until he gets through. He's not sure how to take
the taciturn nature of his brothers and sisters however, he's had longer
conversations with some of the dark ones. It is likely that his lady set
him on the task of getting them to share because of sensing a problem
with Fortress folk not speaking to one another or speaking very little.
Perhaps they are in mourning over the passing of so many and
are not willing to bring this into the open. We shall see what awaits.
During a brief respite.

Our young hero faces down heavy odds though facing them and pushing them
back are two entirely different things. He found the origin of the
imperial mummy's tale, however, it does little good at the moment for he
can see no way that is not a dark path to aid the dread lady in regaining
her children to lead her into the light. Dogged persistence seems to
help, since the dark is not as heavy of late, it still blankets the
lands, but not as it has in recent days. Perhaps we will have a
turning point.
There have been several conversations with his lady on various points,
and he feels she is pointing him at digging up new scribes to fill the
ranks. Finding these types of souls though is not the easiest of things.
More folk seem to lean to seeking the glory and thrill of battle, and
forget that acolytes fight as well. He will search and encourage any who
might have leanings towards scribe-hood.
When a noble death may aid the light.

Tavlin the mummy struck the fortress, blowing through the defenses as a
storm through a ships sails. Our not so young knight did his best to hold
off the mummy, but in the end to no avail. Sending himself to the wrong
home thinking enough time had passed he fell to a gamut of spells and a
few punches to the head. Apparently having made an impression with the
long drawn out battle (or as long as a single fellow against
a mummy advisor to the chasm can make it) and the mummy told him such
bravery should be rewarded and so left the orb. While this is perhaps
not the BEST of outcomes, a single death to keep the orb from such
a creature, our knight considers a fair trade.
Duty makes for heavy itchy hats.
Added Mon Aug 15 07:47:54 2011 at level 51:
Almost from the moment he donned it, the cardinal's hat itched. It was
too big in the first place so when no one was looking he stuffed bits of
cloth in to help it sit better on his head. The hat is also heavy,
wearing it too long gives him a headache. When duty conflicts with
personal honor it sometimes calls for choices no one wants to make but
someone has to. There are times where he has chosen to have the Tara'bal
hold back an impossible force so that he could make a stand deep inside
the fortress proper. While it galls him to do this, there are times it
simply must be done for the greater good. Which is the better choice?
Aiding one of the light to grow, speaking to a dark one in the probably
vain hope that thier ears will hear, or interviewing potential recruits?
The worst so far are the balanced folk who press until they fall. It
haunts him to this day thinking of how he knew they would flee and save
themselves, and then realizing too late that they wouldn't. Perhaps it is
not the hat after all, and it is the choices that itch. He will continue
to make his choices as they come and deal with the consequences as best
he may.
Wounded hearts heal slowly.

The loss of Thevara is a sore blow to the Fortress and to all of thera,
but Caerdryn seems hardest hit by it though Angynn is not far behind.
They spoke of her and honored her memory, and the spirit of a long dead
maran appeared to grant a little peace to each of them. Angynn knows that
only time can ease this sort of wound, and even that can never heal it
completely. This shows though how she touched the lives of those around
her and brought light out of the darkness of her childhood and handed it
about as freely as one would candy to children. Perhaps one day the pain
can be turned into a lesson to another and passed down and
thus spread Thevara's light long after she has fallen, but that day it
seems is far off.
