Description
Shockingly beautiful human male with an aura of leisure, Antharde stands
at six feet, one inch tall. Blonde hair cascading to his shoulders frames
a cherubic face with a square jaw and piercing blue eyes. His body is
thin, though not overly athletic. His clothes and armour are, of course,
kept very clean and shiny. All of the details concering appearance are
immaterial. It is his eyes, gleaming with inner light, that appear to
see beyond the Prime and into the Invisible realms. The youth appears
to burn with the zeal of purpose and conviction of his beliefs.

Beginnings

Antharde was a favoured child of a rich Voralian family. Everything came
easy to him and he was beloved, charming his way from the early age to
his early teens. His father was a rich merchant and his mother was a
socialite, raising funds for charities and good social causes. Quick
of mind, Antharde was tutored by the best that Voralian had to offer,
though he understood the tutelage as more of a game, rather than anything
serious. The only person that didn't fit in the mold of the life of easy
leisure was his grandfather. A figure of mystery, it was gossiped that he
was a retired Maran shaman. It certainly seemed plausible, what with his
daily prayers and devotions, his phoenix-decorate altar and his hard,
unyielding view of life. "Antharde, you play easy, but would you be
able to face hardships?" the grandfather would say. Antharde discarded
those questions. Why worry about hard things when life was easy? And
year strung after a year, until suddenly, his grandfather passed. The
passing of grandfather shocked Antharde. It was the first real loss he
experienced in his enchhanted life. Was there any truth to gossips that
the old man was a terror on the battlefield, fighting for the Light? Some
said he was able to assume the Aspect of the Angel and strike fear in
hearts of Light's enemies. Antharde was uncertain... until the very day
of the grandfather's funeral. The procession started from the Voralian
cathedral and, as his grandfather's body was laid to rest, several angels
materialized from the Azure plain to pay hommage to the great mortal. At
that point, Antharde realized that his life was lived in vain and that
there was more to it than endless rich banquets. Under no circumstances
could Antharde qualify as a holy man. The aspect of the Angel was beyond
him. But, with newly found sense of duty, perhaps he could entreat
Angels from the Azure fields to come fight alongside him and make his
grandfather, and the ancestral line proud? With these thoughts, Antharde
enrolled to the Conjurer's guild and set off to make his mark upon Thera.
The Guild - Early Years
Added Thu Dec 29 09:21:36 2022 at level 9:
First few weeks in the guild for Antharde were a blur. It truly was
a revelation at how much hidden knowledge existed in this building,
which Antharde passed by while walking the streets of the city, for so
many years. It made his head spin. It made him think about the secrets
that other guild buildings held. From there, the same principle held
to not just buildings, but other things. How many secrets were in the
books, in the lost places of Thera, in people's souls, hiding behind
the facade of mundane life? And these were just the obvious secrets,
hidden on purpose. How many things were hiding in plain sight? Things
such as constraints of Law or Trade, politics and struggles for powers,
for one's goals? Indeed, many things could be revealed.
But the biggest secret, as Antharde understood, was the one that was the
most obvious: your own soul. Are you a coward? Are you a hero? Would you
bend or break when the terrible hour came to pass for you? How could you
be discover this? Blacksmiths transforme ore to steel in the crucible
and on the anvil. Alchemists seek to refine the elements to morph them
into their essence. All of them quest for the Truth. But there is only
one way to find it: rise in power and put yourself to the test.
Know thyself: the rush of combat
Added Thu Feb 16 21:52:25 2023 at level 30:
I rise through guild ranks slowly. It is not for the lack of motivation
or an idle mind. I seek to understand my craft and the world, as I
move from one circle of power, to the next. If I have no great magics
to wield, then I can rely on artifacts. I spend days researching and
seeking wands. I range far afield, from the remote Hillcrest beyond
great mountains, to the far-away and exotic Seantryn Modan, beyond the
wide ocean. I find pieces of marble statue, which only arcane students
can use as a weapon. I try exotic weapons from Voralian. All of this
allows me to finally try my hand at the hunt of evil-doers. I think of
my grandfather, as my stomach constricts in excitement and fear, every
time I engage. I don't think this feeling will ever leave me. And yet,
I have no success. Evil-doers manage to escape. But I have learned a lot,
both about the world and myself: I can take fight to evil. I can stand
for what I believe in. I would make my grandfather proud. Yet, I need
more power. I have yet to petition an elemental for aid, and I am far
away from petitioning angels.
