Description

As you gaze upon this massive thirteen foot giant, you immediately notice his slightly curly shoulder length white hair and his alabaster skin. His deep blue eyes sit below white bushy eyebrows that come together and almost look like one. His small nose is almost too small for his large head. You notice behind his wry smile that most of his teeth are gone. Below his fish like lips sits a protruding jaw and strong looking square chin. His muscular arms are like tree branches and his legs are like tree trunks. As you start to gaze away, you see a look of unyielding determination in his eyes and a fiercely driven look on this giants face.

Role

Discovering Magic Within (Part 1)

Added Wed Jul 30 15:38:16 2014 at level 5:
Aoirse Heron was born to normal parents in a normal Cloud Giant village
of Arpor in the northwestern mountains of Thera. This small village is mysterious
and the paths through the clouds to get to it are unknown to most
that do not live in Arpor. Arpor is like any other Cloud Giant village
in that the elders of Arpor are the oldest druids and healers. These
spiritual leaders who pray the prayers of the gods are the only
magic that has ever existed among the people of Arpor or
for all Cloud Giants in Thera for that matter.

So when Aoirse was born nothing seemed different. Aoirses family had
no spiritual magic among them as none of them were druids or healers.
family were simple farmers that enjoyed the simple life. One day
when Aoirse was 100 or so, he was exploring several miles from his home
and came upon a barn. This barn had long been abandoned. Aoirse
being the curious Intellegent type entered the barn and found
little of interest until he notice a small box in the corner of the room.
When Aoirse opened the box he found a necklace that was unlike any
other. It glowed and hummed from a supernatural force and oozed power.
Aoirse was the very ambitious type that lust for all things in life be they
power or respect, so he placed the necklace around his neck and did not
thing much about it. Much later he returned home and his parents
immediately noticed he was different. Aoirse was glowing and even humming
a little. Aoirse had not noticed that the necklace looked normal now
and no longer glowed or hummed. Aoirse told his parents where he found
it. His parents took him to the village elder, a druid name Highrol. Highrol said he
had never seen anything like it. Highrol said it was like Aoirse had absorbed the power
and magic of the necklace. Highrol told him he would look into it and to be patient
as perhaps it was a gift from the gods.

Discovering Magic Within (Part 2)

Added Wed Jul 30 15:39:06 2014 at level 5:
50 years passed until one day Aoirse was working in his parents fields when three
warrior guards of the village told Aoirse that Elder Highrol had requested his presence
immediately. When they arrived at the Elder druids barn, Aoirse could sense the
power coming from within. The three warrior guards led Aoirse into the barn and
Aoirse saw dark figure cloaked in a robe. The dark figure seemed quite powerful
and quite magical but on this day he was chained down and surrounded by
dozens of the best fighters in the village. Once Aoirse was within the barn, he
was told to stand near the Elder Highrol who was next to the chained magi.
When Elder Highrol nodded, the biggest toughest warrior came over with his
sharp sword and swiftly chopped the magis head off. Aoirse could immediately
start to feel the power of the magi enter him as he quickly absorbed all the magical
power that was within the now dead magi. All those in the barn were stunned
as they had never seen a Cloud Giant sorcerer. High Elder Highrol said that
his suspicions had proved true and that Aoirse was a great conduit for magic.

What to do next?

Added Wed Jul 30 15:39:51 2014 at level 5:
Some other races and villages may have cast Aoirse out, but not Arpor. While
they did not want a necromancer like the dead magi in the barn, they might
have been willing to accept someone with magic powers and some other
types of sorcerer. From that day in the barn forward, Aoirse was different.
he knew he could never be a farmer like his parents. He knew he was destined
for more ambitious pursuits and he had a strong desire to be greater, to
achieve power, to achieve respect in not just this village but in the whole world.
He had a unyielding desire to use this power he had within him to better the world
and whatever Aoirse set his mind to he had a fiercely drive desire to win.

Aoirse may have become that great sorcerer if not for one of the most respected
village warriors, Parlit. Parlit had traveled the world over several times and he
had been the biggest toughest warrior that had killed the magi. After what Parlit
saw in the barn that night, he made it a point to look after Aoirse. Parlit told
Aoirse that he was retired from the mighty battleragers. Aoirse had never heard
of them but soon found out they were a motley crew of warriors, thieves, rangers,
and bards that had banned together a long time out to rid magic from
Thera. Parlit indicated that Aoirse could do much in this war against magic. Magic
he said is an unnatural force that has existing in Thera for a long long time. Parlit
took the next 50 years and convinced Aoirse that magic was the reason for the worlds
problems. Aoirse learned that Parlit retired because after years of fighting
magic was no closer to being destroyed. Despite all of the efforts from Captain Boltthrower
to the present, magic just passed for one dead magi to the next born magi. Parlit
Aoirse that he could be different as Aoirse had the power to absorb and
devour magic. He could rid the world of it once and for all. Parlit said with each
magi killed the magical power would absorb into Aoirse if the he, the conduit, was near
when the magi died and even more so if he Aoirse killed the magi himself.

Off to see the world

Added Wed Jul 30 15:40:33 2014 at level 5:
Aoirse stayed home for several more centuries but eventually he was ready to
head off into the rest of the world. Parlit told him to seek out Derrick in Tir Talath.
Derrick had trained several great battlerager warriors and would train Aoirse as well.
Parlit wrote a recommendation letter that Aoirse would give to Derrick when he arrived.
In addition, Parlit told Aoirse that he was intelligent and not a barbarian. He would
fight with his brain and not with his rage. Parlit encouraged Aoirse to learn
about the battleragers and encouraged him to seek the path of the scout. Parlit
said Aoirse was no healer or great defender. Also, Aoirse need to not let his rage
get the better of him as he was no bloodthirsty savage. Therefore, Parlit said
Aoirse would make a great scout as the village needed those that would not
throw their life away and would use their brains to aid the village through scouting.

So Aoirse did just as Parlit suggested and he set out to become more that his village
could offer. He sought to win at all things in life, be they power, respect, or hunting
to rid the world of their magic. When he arrived Tir Talath, Derrick had been
reluctant to train him until he read the recommendation from Parlit. Derrick
said this would be hard as Aoirse was no natural warrior, but Derrick did as Parlit
had asked and would train Aoirse. Currently, they are in the early stages of training,
but Aoirse learns quickly for someone of his race.

The future

Added Wed Jul 30 15:41:03 2014 at level 5:
Aoirse has several things he must do in the short term. First he must go to the lyceum
and learn more about the battleragers. Next he will seek out the battleragers and
learn more from each of them. Lastly, Aoirse will hunt the magi and those that protect
the magi in order to absorb the magical power and remove it from Thera. Parlit taught
him of Tahren and how Tahren destroyed magical things. Aoirse still needed to learn to
harness the magic he absorbed into something that Tahren could then destroy.

Aoirses ambition is very high as he seeks to protect the earth by destroying the unnatural
magical forces from the land. Aoirse lusts for power and respect and will win at whatever
he does, but he will not win at all costs. The fair rules must apply as to be respected
one must have honor.

A hut within the village

Added Mon Aug 25 21:10:33 2014 at level 35:
Aoirses training continued with Derrick as Aoirse progressed as most
warriors did. Aoirse spent his time exploring these great lands
and traveled to such places as the loch, emerald forest, and watched numerous
boats on the Hamsah harbor. Soon Aoirse found his way to the
lyceum, where he read about such former villagers as Vassagon the
Crimson Blademaster and Nimbus the Devourer of the Five Magics.
One name however provided him more inspiration that the others,
Kastellyn the Lord of Legends. Kastellyn inspired Aoirse because
of the pride Aoirse holds for everything he does from studying to
training to destroying magic.

Upon reaching the 15 titles Aoirse headed to the village to pledge
to the mighty village. Upon the way, Aoirse killed a magi that rested
near Hamsah. Upon arriving at Tahren, he was able to pledge as an
applicant right away as he had just killed a magi. Tahren spoke about
the hard road ahead and warned Aoirse that the path would not
be easy. Aoirse knew this and repeated his oath and pledge.

Several years past and Aoirse helped in retrieving the head of the magician.
Aoirse spoke with a couple villagers including the now deceased Hrast.
After scouting a few times for the commander Erighan, Aoirse finally had a chance to
speak with the mighty knight of valour that commands the village. To say
Aoirse was impressed is a vast understatement. Aoirse learned much of honor
and valour during that talk. While Aoirse impressed the commander enough
to earn a hut, Aoirse was required to suppress his absorbing of magic until Aoirse
and Erighan could speak to Lord Thror or the Biddy. Aoirse has done as he was asked
as he is not one to question leadership unless absolutely needed. Aoirse participated
in the knights ritual and dedicated his life to the battleragers.

Polearm

Added Mon Aug 25 21:11:20 2014 at level 35:
While Aoirse was pursuing his hut within the village, he had another choice to make.
Soon after gaining his 20th title, he returned to Derrick for training. Derrick indicated
he was ready for something new and told him that he needed to specialize in a weapon
in order to train further. Derrick told him that he would train further in one weapon now
and another later.

Aoirse spent some time with Derrick deciding on this and ruled out daggers, whips, and flails
because they felt awkward in his hands. Next Aoirse ruled out hands as he preferred
something heavy in his strong hands. Most swords he tried felt too light and maces while
was just not his style. So he selected axes and polearms. Derrick recommended
the defensive nature of polearms as the first choice and the power of axes as the second
choice. Derrick had never lead him wrong so he listened to him and took polearm as
his first weapon specialization.

Axes and Pride

Added Wed Sep 10 15:55:55 2014 at level 45:
Aoirse has had a hut for a while now and has taken much pride in having this hut.
Pride takes many forms for Aoirse. Pride is winning victory because you dislike losing
Pride is being driven to be the best. Pride is never setting for second. Aoirse takes
pride in the village, his intelligence, his need for victory, and his skill with his weapons.

It is with this pride of victory that Aoirse came upon the 40th rank and needed to choose
a second weapon with which to become proficient. As with the first choice, Aoirse knew
he could not choose a light weapon like whips, flails, or daggers. Spears, staffs, swords, and
hands just did not seem suited for this strong giant. That left maces and axes. While
maces would have been a fine choice with its ability to break bones and smash skulls,
Aoirse like the skull smashing, weapon breaking, and ability to disembowel his foes
best. After long discussions and training with Derrick, Aoirses second weapon specialization
was axes. Derrick then told Aoirse he would need to think about monk trainings, but that
will be a little later.

First Legacy

Added Tue Sep 16 18:56:38 2014 at level 50:
One day Aoirse visited his guildmaster Derrick and was told that it
was time for the first of two Order of Macalla monk training sessions that
he would receive. Derrick and Aoirse discussed the legacies in detail
and finally settled on Trapping Beneath Thunder. Trapping seemed
natural to Aoirse as in the ancient annals, Cloud giants flocked to
the Order or Macalla for lessons of duty, honor, and preservance.
Aoirse has always respected these traits as well as his reverence for
history of his race. Besides these heavy weapons felt nature in Aoirses hands.
Soon Derrick was training him to use these heavy weapons to his
advantage and strike blows that tore through any defense.

Second Legacy

Added Tue Sep 16 18:57:22 2014 at level 50:
A couple years pasted and Aoirse was pleased with his choice of
Trapping Beneath Thunder. He visited Derrick and was told it was
time for his second and last Order of Macalla training session.
Derrick and Aoirse discussed using this second training to reduce
any weakness in Aoirse. At first Aoirses pride was wounded as
he did not believe he had any weaknesses. Derrick calmly explained
that this was not an insult but merrily a fact of all men and women.
Aoirse thought this over and decide he had two main weaknesses.
The first weakness was his inherent vulnerability to holy attacks,
negative attacks, and diseases. The second weakness was dropping his
weapon when inflected with maledictions. While Forsake Thoughts
was considered a possibility, Aoirse was worried that this would be
perceived as rejecting the Divine. Aoirse follows Lord Daevryn and
would never want to do anything to slight his lord and all his lord
has accomplished. So Aoirse decided to train on Riddle of Resilience.
Derrick began to tell Aoirse of Thokora Meteshen who would shun
the discomforts and pain associated with broken bones or gashes.
It took Aoirse a long time to learn this Order of Macalla monk train
but finally he was able to set his mind apart and will the pain away
only dropping his weapon in the most terrible of circumstances.
