Description

Standing before you is a lithe looking female with bluish gray skin, with a devious grin upon her face. Jet black hair with a purple raven like sheen has been pulled back and braided very tightly as it falls across her shoulder and to her side. Her muddled heritage is confirmed by her ears which are smaller then a dark elf, yet still come to a sharp point at the tip. Her ears are adorned with an assortment of piercings, all selected to accent her ears and her profile. A small pointed nose gives her face a slender look to it as if she was a child, though her purple eyes have a malicious look burning within them that speak otherwise. Her long neck is also adorned with a necklace and jewelry, and her garments appear to be well tailored to her body leaving little to the imagination to her figure. Though she does not appear to have any sort of heavy armor or weapons upon her, the way she carries herself leaves no doubt that she is deadly none the less. Like a predator watching their prey, she surveys those around her with a wicked smirk.

Role

Brief outline

Added Wed Jan 24 14:55:54 2024 at level 1:
Born to a dark elf courtesan of Hamsah, she was always told that her father
had been a high ranking official within the Empire.

She inherited her mothers looks and her fathers ego and air of authority, so
she believes the world is hers for the taken. Spoiled both by her mother and
by the men who would court her mother, she was hardly ever told no in life.

Mother is murdered within town, yet Tribunals do not do a proper
investigation because she is "just a whore" and thats just one of the
dangers of the job. Due to this has a dislike of Tribunal law which they
enforce. Not strict enough as they are weak willed and pathetic.

Instead turns to the Empire, using whatever power she can scrap together. She
is allowed to join because of her fathers name, however she is disowned in
every other way. She is not allowed to join any guilds within the Empire as
she could be used as a pawn, so she joins instead the invokers guild to find
her own rise to power.

She is dedicated herself to being the whisper in the ear of those in power,
to gain their trust and rule them. To make the Empire her puppet and to give
her whatever she wants. She wants to grasp the cities in her hand and tighten
her grip so that no one shall ever look down upon her again, nor defy her
wishes.

Yes my darling

Added Wed Jan 24 14:56:23 2024 at level 1:
Ah, the words every little girl loved hearing from those wrapped around her
fingers. Yes my darling would often be the reply from her mother as she would
heap upon her selfish and spoiled demands. Though who could blame little
Araristara, for she could be very charming when she wanted to be. Running
around the establishment as if she owned the place, everyone could not but
help love this little girl. Their little raven they called her, for her hair
was jet black with almost a purplish glossy sheen to it when the light hit it
just right. And on top of that she was known for often stealing shinny
babbles which were left around the place.

And even those who were annoyed with little Araristara would not dare say a
word for her mother was a well known and powerful courtesan. Companion to
many who wield power, is was even said that Araristara's father was some high
ranking Lord within the Empire. So this was the little kingdom in which
Araristara found herself growing up in, and rightfully so or not, she was the
princess to rule over them all.

The illusion shattered

Added Wed Jan 24 14:57:00 2024 at level 1:
Something was not right, her mother was suppose to meet her half an hour ago
for dinner. Mother was never late, and how dare she keep her from such a
wonderful meal waiting for them! Upset and annoyed, Araristara puffed out her
cheeks and stomped across the floor to the staircase making her way towards
her mothers suite. As Araristara started to ascend the stairs, she was shoved
aside by some unknown pompous Lord rushing down the stairs. His hair was a
mess and he appeared to be half dressed, though what caught Araristaras
attention was the claw marks across his face as if he had been scratched.

Glaring at this fool for daring to bump into her, the nerve! And not even an
excuse me or by your leave! She would have to talk to her mother about having
this man flogged for his insult, or at least buy her some lavish gift as an
apology. Calming herself for a moment, she then continued up the stairs until
she was hit by the strong iron smell in the air. Looking towards the door,
thick dark blood was slowly starting to creep out the door of her mothers
suite. Fear gripped her stomach as her mother would never leave her suite
open as such, much less allowing such a mess upon the floor. Running to the
door she peered into a room which appeared to have been ruined in a rage.
Furniture was torn asunder and many of her mothers fine things were shattered
and broken across the room.

Though while such things were often the focus of her attention, it was not to
be this time. As her gaze passed across her mothers bed, she could see that
there was a battered lump there upon the sheets covered in blood. A mutulated
mass that to the eye would not be able to tell whom or what it was, but
Araristara knew it to be her mother. A wailing scream like a banshee escaped
her lips the likes none have heard within the establishment, as she feel to
her knees at the side of her mothers bed.

Still mother was still warm to the touch, yet the vacant gaze had set into
her eyes as there was no sign of life. Araristara did not know how long she
sat there by the side of her mothers bed, though she does remember being
escorted out by the staff at some point as chaos erupted all around her.
While many thought she was in shock over her mothers death, that was only a
small part of it. What they did not know was Araristara was more worried
about what was going to happen to HER. Who now would give her everything she
deserved in life?

When Tribunal law fails you

Added Wed Jan 24 14:57:53 2024 at level 1:
As a few days had passed, Araristara sat in a guest room quiet and to
herself. All she had with her was the few clothing which she had been able to
gather before the proprietor came in like a raging storm. In truth,
Araristars mother owned very little even though she lived a life of wealth.
Araristara soon learned that everything which she thought her mother owned
had been given to her when she asked, and well those patrons now saw fit to
retrieve their property.

How was Araristara to survive this? Her little kingdom was crumbling around
her and she did not wish to end up like her mother. She had grown too
accustom to the lavish and wealthy lifestyle and all she knew was that she
wanted to continue to live as such! But here she was a young girl, told that
her mother had left her practically nothing even though she was world renown
as a courtesan.

As she played that evening over and over in her head, she soon began to work
out a solution to her problems. It was thought that the young lord whom had
been her mothers last companion was the very one whom she bumped into on the
stairs that evening. At least that is what everyone believed as he was the
last one to be seen with her. Araristara took her case and the crime to the
governing Tribunals of Hamsah to have them take over the case. Araristara
believed that if she could at least get the young lord to be convicted as a
criminal for the act, she would at least receive some sort of compensation
from him. Yet as the Tribunals listened to her case, they simply told her
that she did not have any witnesses to the crime and that her mother should
have known the risk involved in her line of work.

The nerve and gall these Tribunals had! They dared to tell her no?? Going
into a temper tantrum, they simply escorted her out of the building as she
raged on and on. Demanding justice for her mother and more importantly
herself! Rolling their eyes, they slammed the door in young Araristaras face,
causing her to fall backwards into a mud puddle.

Left with nothing else, a second scream of rage pierced the calm quiet
matching that of the night her mother died.

When you have nowhere else to turn

Added Wed Jan 24 14:58:30 2024 at level 1:
She was the little raven princess, the onyx jewel of Hamsah! How could she
have fallen so low and so fast to being almost like a commoner! Araristara
refused to seek refuge among the filthy orphans in Balator for they were mere
rubish in her eyes. She was no street urchin or peasant and she refused to
debase herself as such.

However soon a second plan soon started to form in her devious little mind.
Ah yes, her father! Clearly someone of such power would have a place for a
daughter as beautiful as her! He would clearly welcome her into his household
for clearly the only reason he had yet to come for her was that her mother
must have kept him from her!

Presenting herself in her best garments, Araristara traveled to the Imperial
lands where she soon found the Imperial lord of which her mother always spoke
of. Perplexed as to why he was not happy to see his daughter, Araristara
simply blew off such a greeting and found her way in. Though the news in
which she was given did not go well for young Araristara. Her father did
promise her a path to glory and riches, though it would not be through his
name.

You see, he feared that if it had gotten out that she was his bastard child
that she would be used as a pawn within the Empire to force him submit to
others. To him, Araristara was nothing more then a pawn in a greater game and
he was not willing to risk his own wealth and power upon her. But what he did
promise her was that she would be given the glorious honor of taking the
blood oath once she was of age. To become a citizen of the Empire where
others were merely fodder, so that she could rise above the masses.

A vision is born

Added Wed Jan 24 14:59:00 2024 at level 1:
How DARE he? While Araristara accepted her fathers offer, it chaffed at her
to have to accept such a pathetic place in life! Did he not know how she was
to be treated? Did he not know the sway his mother had held for all the years
he had not been there? She was suppose to be given what she wanted, and what
she wanted was wealth and power! And now, this man whom she had his blood
coursing through her refused her such?!

While a raging storm burned within her soul and behind her eyes, she put on
the sweet face she always used to get her way and thanked her father. She
would find some way to join one of the sects within the Empire and rise up
through the ranks. She would have to settle then to becoming the Empress in
her own time and then make her own father grovel before her feet. Though what
Araristara did not know was her father had already spread word that she was
not allowed to be trained within any of guilds and sects of the Empire. She
would have to rely upon the citizens of the Empire and the elites, ensuring
that she was always in debt to them. It was his way to guarantee that no one
was able to use her as a pawn should she achieve power of some sort.

Furious upon finding out such, Araristara would not be stopped in her vision.
Deny her as Empress, fine! She would be the puppet master whispering into the
council and elites. She would be the hand playing chess while they were never
the wiser. All Araristara knew was she was better then them all, and they
would all suffer for making her wait. The world would be hers, and she would
make sure she found a way to place herself in a position of power to rule it
with a sweet tongue and an iron grip.

The tenants of Lord Rillan (Part 1)

Added Mon Feb 5 14:02:00 2024 at level 30:
Laws are in place to protect.
Laws allow any who are smart enough to rise in power. For it is more then
just brute strength, but wit and charisma to clime the ladder of power and
authority. They protect that which you earn and obtain, and allow you a path
to ever keep those whom are unfit to rule to rise in power. The savage and
uncouth flaunt their chaotic ways, yet they shall never establish a true
base to build their power upon. For they tear each other down thinking to
live in anarchy. An uncivilized barbaric time.

Araristara shall ever use the laws of both the Empire and Tribunal to
maneuver herself into power. To flaunt before those whom would hunt her as
she remains safe behind the law. To use it to punish any whom would stand
against her, and find a way to use the law to tear down her opponents
without having to get her own hands dirty. More so, the laws are a way for
the masses to think they are on equal footing with you, yet it binds them
into a set response.

Banks are in place to protect your wealth.
It is well known that power is but one path to rule the world, while the
other is wealth. Yet wealth can be such a fickle mistress which can be
stripped at a moments notice. Bandits and savages line the road seeking to
part you from your wealth, as they are jealous of such. What better way then
to use the banks of Thera to ensure the safety of ones power source. More so,
to use the banks to be the coffers of others so that they depend upon you as
a source of coin. Ever get your servants addicted to coin and wealth and
there is nothing you can not buy.

Araristara understands this as many ever seek coin within the Empire. Knowing
how to maneuver such coin, she will seek to be a banker of sorts for all the
sects. To have them trust her with not only coin but with all things of
value. She shall be the bank of coin and the bank of secrets.

Those in power shall be worshiped and obeyed
Without a proper structure of power, then it is pointless to seek power
yourself. By holding to a strict hierarchy one ensures that when you obtain
power that you too shall be obeyed and worshiped. More so, by respecting
those of power you climb the ladder of power yourself.

Araristara knows that power comes in many forms, yet she needs those of
greater power to achieve such. Only by worshiping and obeying them shall the
path to power open up to her. She can smile while giving platitudes and lip
service, knowing that her time shall come. Let the people have their titles,
for she is willing to work in the shadows for true power. Araristara seeks to
be the true master of puppets behind the throne, getting everyone to dance to
her tune.

The tenants of Lord Rillan (Part 2)

Added Mon Feb 5 14:05:01 2024 at level 30:
Be the Woman of the People
Know what you are good at, and be the best at such. Offer the people
something which they want, what they crave and they shall always look to you
for your aid and guidance. Be love, fear or envy, it does not matter so long
as the people turn to you to fix their problems. For the people will always
seek to shun their own problems in hopes that someone else can fix it for
them.

Araristara seeks to use her position of citizen as such. To those of the
Empire, she is harmless without any power. Yet she holds immense arcane power
which there are very few willing to provide such. As well in their eyes, she
is unconnected to the politics of the Empire and can offer aid in many ways.
Granted, they all think that she is doing it for them and the greater good,
yet she is attaching strings to all of them and soon they shall be trapped in
her web.

Control the narrative
Those who control the story and narrative, control the truth. Perception is
greater then reality and if you can control such, you shall ever have the
power.

She is not the power hungry arcane who shall rule behind the throne, but the
generous magi seeking only to make the Empire stronger. To many, she is just
a citizen who understands that she can be nothing more. Yet that is hardly
the truth, for she is a spider waiting for the unsuspecting to wander into
her web. Yet they shall do such on their own will and thank her for such.

Divide to Rule
When a group gathers together, they are harder to control and rule. Be it
animals or people, it does not matter. One should always seek to find those
who are powerful and prevent them from gathering with others, if you seek to
rule over them. Play into their ego, buy them off, and ever set them against
For if they are too busy fighting against each other, they shall never see
you as a threat. They shall never suspect you of the one gathering the power
and pulling the strings. Always whisper doubt into the ears of your friends
and enemies to play upon their fears and insecurities. Isolate them from
friends and family so it is to you whom they turn to for everything. And
never let them know about each other, as you seek to get them to fear
speaking with those whom could actually grant them greater power.

The start of the web of influence

Added Wed Feb 14 15:56:20 2024 at level 38:
Too long Araristara has watched the Empire flounder while she gains in power.
Some rise quickly in the ranks and then flame out never to be seen again. A
few she started to groom for positions of power, yet when she asked them if
they sought such, they would be coy and claim if it was destined then it
would be. There were none which were hungry, which knew the power was theirs
or should be there. Meek and weak willed, and their corpses proved such.

So as Araristara watched Daerys start to grow and gain in power, she decided
to push this one instead of allowing them to wallow in hubris and mediocrity.
Araristara brought up the subject of the Dread Lord with Daerys, and like all
others they were coy and claimed hubris. That if it was the will of others,
then they would accept the position. Not accepting such an answer, Araristara
began to push at Daerys and get them to shed such modesty. For one must rise
up and TAKE power, not be given it. Daerys soon began to change their views
and acknowledged that if not them, who else could take this position? Would
they allow another who was inferior to take it? No! Araristara as well
promised them guidance and council in the times to come should they need or
want it. To help them manipulate those of the council to guarantee their
power within the Empire.

And Araristaras first move was to gain the support of the Shadow Lord Vrolah
as they were the only true presence within the council. Upon speaking with
them, Araristara was able to gain their opinion of Daerys and slowly push
them into accepting their bid. It was made known to the Shadow Lord that
having one in their pocket would benefit not only the Empire but their own
position. More so, Araristara promised the same to Vrolah that she would be
loyal to them and give them guidance in any way possible. To always stand
with them against any other of the council, or at least that is what they
think.
