Description
A slender, yet obviously muscular feline figure is here, standing about five
and a half feet tall. He is lightly clothed in practical garb of natural
tones of dark brown, grey and green, making him likely to blend into most
wilderness areas with ease. His fur is pitch-black and smooth, though marred
by a few small patches of almost bare and scarred skin as a testament to
some old wounds. A few solitary longer hairs arch as eyebrows on his
forehead and below them a pair of round, amber eyes gleam slightly as light
falls upon them. Snow-white whiskers adorn his muzzle, and sharp yellowish
fangs can be glimpsed whenever he opens his mouth. Large mean-looking claws
stand out with their pale, almost silvery hue, especially on his forepaws.
All in all, the felar seems to carry himself with an inherently effortless
grace, each movement soft and measured, yet he appears ready to spring into
quick motion if need be.
Role
Basic background
Added Mon Aug 24 16:44:32 2020 at level 22:
- He grew up near a couple of peaceful villages along the foothills of the
Northern Mountains.
- His home was in a cave where he lived with his parents, his mother worked
as the herbalist/healer for the village people and his father as a scout
in the Village Patrol.
- Village Patrol was a loose unofficial group of fighters and hunters,
responsible for things such as hunting game and keeping the area safe
against any outside threats.
- As a boy most of his time was spent either with his parents in the wilds,
or in his own time spelunking in the many caverns that abounded nearby,
discovering new passages or any other secrets they might hold.
- He once spied a group of duergar leading a couple of elven prisoners
deeper into the mountains, following them in the shadows as far as he
could, all the while having to witness the wanton cruelty of the duergar
towards the prisoners. He finally had to give up to find his way back to
the surface - a rescue party was organized, but the duergar could not
be found, causing him great distress at not having been able to help the
elves.
- A good morality strenghtened naturally from his parents and the village
community, with a strong sense of looking after others for the common good.
- As an agile and physically able young felar he was quick to learn fighting
skills, and soon decided his skills would be best used protecting those
without the means to do so themselves - any and all of the good, innocent
folk of the lands.
- His homeland is rather secluded and only rarely troubled, but he learned
that evil forces lurk and work in tyranny in many places around the world,
and it's better to seek out and destroy the enemy before it even has the
opportunity to do harm.
- So he set out to hone his skills formally in the ranger's guild and to
perhaps find a group of likeminded people with whom to fight the wicked
and try to make the lands safer for all.
Tactical considerations of a Squire
Added Thu Jan 14 10:14:54 2021 at level 41:
During his time fighting as a Squire Ashawahr has learned that the enemy
is indeed numerous and often very crafty, making them tough opponents.
Even if a fight is going in his favor, his foe can disengage easily enough
and flee to safety. He realizes his limitations, but nevertheless being
unable to prevent their escape can be quite frustrating. Still, there may
be some tricks to be learned that might aid him in battle and give him a
wider range of tactics to employ, such as the use of magical talismans or
scrolls or exotic weaponry against his foes. He must explore the lands
more, to see if such could give him an edge in battle.
A certain tactic is already at his disposal, though. His companions in
the Fortress have shown that feigning weakness in combat may allow you to
turn the tables in the end. Try to make the enemy overconfident, so he
thinks he has the upper hand and chases after you into more favorable
terrain, for example. Not as easy as it sounds, there's a fine line
between making yourself vulnerable enough and still coming out alive and
fit enough to make the second bout a decisive one. Not to mention that
each opponent is different and what may work against one, is likely to
fail miserably against another type of foe. Lots of variables to consider
and the chaos of combat more often than not will render the best laid
plans to naught, but still, a viable tactic and one that can only be
learned through trial and error, and he will attempt to make use of it.
In general, Ashawahr presently sees himself as more of a support fighter
to his front line companions, providing them some utility by tending
their wounds with his skills and herbs or scouting in camouflage.
