Description

A rather grim-looking man stands before you. His skin is dark and tanned and slightly dirty, as are his clothes, which look well-traveled and dusty. His armor, on the other hand, seems recently shined and well-kept. A slightly delicate looking face is framed by a mass of curly black hair that, if straight, would likely reach his upper back. His expression seems to be quite serious, but his eyes, two pools of clear light blue, seem to radiate hope and peace. Standing at a little less than six feet tall, he looks to weigh only about 150 pounds, giving him a bit of a scrawny appearance at first. However, on a closer look, you notice lean, stringy muscles that peek out from underneath his armor. On his left wrist, you notice a small charm bracelet, and slung across his back is a large shield

Role

The History and Background of Athanla

Added Fri Aug 4 20:07:07 2006 at level 1:
Born in Balator to a mother who died while giving birth, Athanla's sole
living relative was his father, who was a loyal servant of that dread
organization known as the Empire. As such, his father mistreated him for much
of his childhood, and the rather sickly Athanla could do little about it. As
he grew, he witnessed the murder of many who wished to see the Empire fall,
as well as those of many who did not actively oppose it, but merely refused
to join their ranks. Seeing the injustice in this, Athanla spent years
seeking another way of living. At the age of 15, his father fell at the hands
of a member of one of the Maran, to never return again, thus freeing Athanla,
though in a rather unfortunate turn, from the bonds of his father's tyranny.
Shortly thereafter, he came to learn of a Lord called Corrlaan, whose message
of protection and mercy appealed to him. To show mercy was something he had
seen his father do once or twice, but to protect the innocent, and to not
only stand with someone, but to stand in their place seemed the exact thing
he had felt in his heart so long, but had no way to express. This surely was
the alternative to the wanton destruction he had seen in his early years, and
surely this Lord would be the one Athanla would devote his life to serving.
Moving to the Voralian City to escape the horrors of his former home, Athanla
joined the paladin's guild, thus beginning a new life.
