Description

You see a tall, slender man before you. His refined, delicate features point to an elven heritage, though his clothing and hygene stand out in stark contrast. His face is covered in dirt, and does not appear to have been washed in some time. His clothing and armor appears in better condition, though most appears scavenged or primitive at best. His movements seem somewhat odd, as if something is out of place about him. After a moment, it seems almost as if his mind is focused somewhere beyond the world around him, while his body struggles to catch up.

Role

Purpose

Added Sat Mar 26 15:51:05 2005 at level 1:
Possessing a strong link to Nature as many of his kind do, Baltherias
became a druid at a young age, though he never found the purpose that
others did. However, this was not considered particularly odd, and
it was expected that this would resolve itself in time. During this
time, Baltherias studied ancient lore, and defended Nature whenever it
called.

In one such occurance, his travels brought him to the forests of
Ar'atouldain, as spiders and other dark creatures grew overly
restless. Though affected by the druidic calls, such things are often
never truly calmed, and in one swift moment, Baltherias was bitten by
one spider, immediately feeling the burning affects of the spider's
poison. He was taken to nearby Eryn Galen, where he remained ill for
many weeks. It was during this time, he was touched by the hand of
the Goddess, Eshval. While he was afflicted by many fevered delusions
during his illness, one in particular remained with him even
afterwards. Travelling across empty lands, he searches for life.
Finally, he stumbles across a beautiful woman, standing amidst dozens
of creatures the world has never seen. His eyes meet hers, and she
nods ever so slightly, before the dream is ripped away.

When he recovers, Baltherias becomes certain his dream was of some
great import to his life, and strives to decipher it's meaning. The
creatures he had seen, were easily found to be little more than
fevered imaginings. The woman, however, proved even more tantalizing.
She haunted his dreams, and in time, Baltherias became certain that
it was his purpose to aid Nature's creation of the creatures of his
dreams, and somehow this woman would show him how. Since then, she
has become his obsession as he travels Thera, consumed by a need he
cannot fulfill.

Religion

Added Wed Oct 26 14:51:23 2005 at level 51:
Long overdue, but for anyone not aware of Baltherias's story.

Accepted as a priest of Eshval, Baltherias has remained ever
aware of the gifts he has received, and the esctasies of
Eshval's favor. He remains firm in his beliefs and actions
as a druid, but tempers them with an outlook prompted by the
dark ways of Eshval.

In this way, he has come to see that too often, even druids
are as succeptable as others to favor the pleasant, and shun
the unknown or distasteful. To counter this, and seek to
keep balance in his own way, Baltherias spends a great deal
of time seeking the dark and unknown, bringing appreciation
to that which most shun. His own particular interest in the
great hunters.

Darkness

Added Wed Oct 26 15:13:26 2005 at level 51:
As time passes, Baltherias continues his efforts to offset
the imbalance he perceives to be occuring. In time, he
joins the Outlanders of Thar-Eris, working against those
who would control and oppress, allowing the progress of
natural course. Through their Ancients, Baltherias comes
to hear, and listen to the Ancients of the Predators,
aiding their cause when it agrees with he, and Eshval's
desires. In time, his ways lead him to accept the
Darkness which Eshval offers, and explores that gift.

Though evil, Baltherias remains a druid in spirit, but
considers himself more the voice of that which is avoided,
in word and action.
