Description
This rather short female gnome stands with perfect posture, yet it only
yields a rather unimpressive three feet tall. She is quite attractive, by
gnome standards, with a perfect light grey complexion that almost glistens.
Her age is starting to show as the ever so faintest crows feet begin to form
at the corners of her eyes, yet she still possesses tremendous charisma. She
is adorned in randomly pieced together armament, yet emanates a soft loving
attitude from what you can assess through her body language. Uncertainty is
with you, but you would guess she is certainly not a front-line combatant.
She absent-mindedly rubs a flawless tattoo of a beautiful, perfect purple
lotus upon her right wrist, looking to be masterfully placed with almost
stunning artistic skill.
Her hair is a dark mahogany brown with random pieces of grey beginning to
show that falls unbound to her mid-back, it falls perfectly aside from the
two enormous ears jutting through the sheen. Her eyebrows are well tweezed
and move often with her animated facial expressions, sitting above two
sparkling eyes that glow with the deep blue of a daytime ocean. They are
magnified even moreso behind her stylish glasses that sit upon her scrunched
nose, quite small for a gnome. Her perfect pale pink lips are smeared from
cheek to cheek in an innocent smile that now holds the confidence of a
seasoned magus. Looking closer at her, you also notice that...
Role
The Oddity Among the Gnomes

Not necessarily the most popular gnome from Hillcrest, Baylahn Clairsage was
viewed as almost a burden among her kin. She was the girl at all the dances
and festivals that everyone always prayed wouldn't ruin the occasion, but how
could she help it... when she had such a skill? She was not crazy!
She knows little of her family, yet only that they were explorers that never
returned to her as a toddler. It was then, that she discovered her power.
What was it about these historical books? She could simply touch the pages
and close her little eyes to visualize, only to see feelings and actions that
the book never spoke of! It captured her, and perhaps led to her now slightly
compromised social state.
Gnomes normally just look after orphans as a community, but Baylahn fell
through the cracks and normally was always alone in the library, who wanted
to be seen with something so controversial and odd? Some of the other
children didn't even know she was in the city until they were teenagers!
As a teenager is truly when this oddity came to fruition, she began to walk
the streets and bump into the other townfolk (which only added to her
weirdness) to attempt to visualize things about their past, to go beyond
books. Only to find, she was starting to see things that *were* to be,
instead of already happened...
The Ascent Above Society

Baylahn was indifferent of whether this was a "gift" or a "curse", but she
was fairly certain it was a curse based upon her treatment by other kin. She
could not help to keep trying to develop it though. She perhaps truly had
"psychic" powers, yet not only the future.. she could sniff out details
historian missed of past events too!
The saddest part of her life there, was that if this did not exist within her
soul she would always be the most loving gnome in any bunch, the funniest at
any time, the prettiest girl at the dance. Yet the closed-minded disapproval
of her even living there, broke her heart.
Perhaps it was time to be unselfish, and let Hillcrest return to normality
like they wished. Yet, she knew she would meet the same fate as her parents
did if she could not even find a remotely well planned way to survive. The
countless times where even struggling up a ladder to get a book from even the
third shelf sometimes proved a daunting task. Not to mention the time that
dictionary fell on her and she was in the hospital for a week. A good thing
she touched the doctor before he gave her that medicine, she is violently
allergic to herbal remedies.
After discovering the guild of shapeshifters through a compendium of guilded
professions, she became fascinated. Could she truly ball up and enter the
soul of a true beast and maybe even be strong enough to move a desk, or get
hit by an apple out of a tree and not black out for once!?
Already consumed by previous desires to become a travelling explorer and
historian, this knowledge unlocked the courage in her heart to do it. Pain
ached for her parents, she wanted to find out how they passed... or maybe
they had what she did, and they ran away too!? She must develop this power,
and find the balance between the history and future of Thera. She loves
humanity and this world, and she knows she can help it.

the wind, someone thinks to at least check on her only to pull it off and

As you all know, I have not fit in with you all for many years. It hurts my
heart because I am a Gnome! Just like any of you, and we share the same
blood! I do not judge Churpin for wetting the bed every night any more than I
judge Mayor for goosing every derriere because he thinks himself so powerful.
We are who we are, but since you cannot accept who I am, I have decided to
relinquish my citizenship of Hillcrest.
What I have is real, ask the doctor who I had to save my own life from when
he tried to get me to munch on that Burglewort to cure my fever! The fact
that some of you expect me to eat it to prove I am right makes me sad! And
the time I told Thommish at the festival that Corelan was going to hit on his
girlfriend, leading to a preemptive black eye would have really happened
whether you think so or not!
I am not sure if I will ever return, but I still care about every single one
of you. I am proud that I am a gnome, and I will not betray my bloodline. I
am moving to Galadon to become a shapeshifter and try to balance this world
and make it a better place, and to find at the very least, the grave of my
parents.
I will be the grandmother of gnomes that decided to break past the flaws of
sociey and become who they are! If any of you wish to give in and know what
the future holds for you, or humble yourself enough to heal our relationship.
You can find me in the smallest shack in Galadon under my new name. Baylahn

Overview

*A lovable gnome Baylahn is. She tends to cheer anyone up that finds
themselves downtrodden and is always making jokes. She truly feels free now,
and loves life as much as she loves others.
*She is extremely terrified of falcons after a very scary episode of almost
being fed to a screeching deathbed of nestlings. Praise magic for her stag
beetle, they certainly weren't about to eat that.
*She is violently allergic to any kind of herbal remedy. Even sometimes
leading to possible death.
*She will not slay other gnomes out of respect for her bloodline. It is
something she refuses to do, no matter the cost.
*She has aligned herself under the sphere of Love for the care she wishes to
share with Thera. Being pulled deeper into the sphere, she almost cannot
ignore the tug toward the beautiful Goddess named Rayihn. Maybe Rayihn can
aid her with her gift.
*She does tend to be socially compromised sometimes, leading to akward
moments from not knowing what to say. Though time will teach her what
comments are unacceptable speech per situation.
*She desperately wants to find the grave of her parents for closure. But even
more so, she prays they are alive, and possess this gift too and can give her
wisdom of how to handle and control it.
*After exposure to Thera, she has truly been fascinated with the deeper
workings of Balance. Knowing the future can guide your steps to different
directions, yet knowing the past and the wisdom from it can do the same. She
wishes to find the perfect balance between past vs. future, so the quality of
the present can be in perfect balance for all. Along with many other ideals,
she has learned of the Island of the Nexuns, and seeks to explore their
wisdom.
Only time will tell if she escapes the falcons and any other beasts, and is
led enough down the road of perseverance to be one of the Gnomes that can
survive outside of Hillcrest. She does not regret it one bit so far, and her
optimism tells her she never will.
Finding Beauty and Blink Dogs

Manethease D'vutha the Sorcerous Sapper sweeps his ebony finger across the
room as the village rips it's way into the inner depths of the Island. "It is
I who will let loose the hounds of war!", he yells madly, redirecting his
gaze to Baylahn. "You! I will teach you a ferocious feral beast, take
shape!".
Baylahn searches her heart until the scampering howl of the blink dog finds
her. Opening her hands widely, she beckons it's spirit as her bones crack and
shift, transforming into the mythical blink dog. Snarling, she bounds for the
villagers attempting to take away her key. Everyone in the Island is bested,
or broken, as the villagers scurry away with it and Baylahn resumes her form.
"I knew my foresight could transfer into the beasts and be used in the heart
of combat... I can sense what they are doing before they even do it!" she
screams with enlightenment. "With such power, must come the integrity and the
ability to harness it. I am humbled, but so shall be the village." as she
transforms back into it, covering the ground quickly to her key.

Baylahn walks into the Bathhouse yet again, hoping to finally meet the
beautiful Goddess Rayihn. Yet, there she was, giggling with her feet in the
water already waiting for her. "Come dearest Baylahn, sit next to me."
The two conversate quite a long time, and for the first time in her life,
Baylahn feels Love as if it is almost as tangible as her own flesh. Though,
the Goddess enlightens her as she realizes areas she wavers wrongfully in. It
is hard, as she has never been valued by a soul in her life, and she must
overcome her thoughts of little self worth. She is just as important as the
souls around her.
Feelings strengthened in herself, at least for now, she leaves with
inspiration. She must do everything in her power to become one of Rayihn's
most beloved, because then... she will finally be the woman she is supposed
to be.
Hugs in Life... and Death

The once lonely gnome makes a slight impression in the sand on her hands and
knees as she slowly peeks onto the waters of the sandy oasis within the
Island. Her face was just as beautiful, her hair a bit longer, but there was
something much more different than looks. Squinting heavily she tried her
hardest to notice anything at all, until she saw the glint of growing
confidence in her eyes.. it certainly was never there before, and she closed
her eyes imagining her path to the Island.
It seemed like just yesterday that her stuttering words and cautious nature
came before the Rhyme seeking just any semblance of a life not spent in
solitude. She had no idea how much she could grow, or what she truly was
capable of until she met Treyliu, and even moreso the beautiful Goddess
Rayihn. Her dreams of being strong and resilient enough to survive a life
outside of Hillcrest within the guild of shapeshifters had exceeded all her
expectations. Now she battled the strongest warriors in Thera daily, simply
trying to defend her home that has unlocked the passion for life within her.
Her eyes still closed tightly, she shakes her head in pure awe knowing she
must go further. She owes it to the Island, and even moreso to herself.
Absent-mindedly she runs her little fingers over the Silver Serpent in her
hand before whispers fill her head, "What are you doing you silly girl?". She
cocks her head in wonderment before she spins around at the echo behind
her...
"What are you doing you silly girl?", says a voice from the shadows.
"Rhyme!", she screams in happiness to go hug her.

Tears well within her eyes as she crumbles to her knees holding the mangled
mass of flesh and feathers on the Island. "Don't leave me! Please! I need
you!", she screamed desperately as the ghostly presence of Treyliu rattled
her chains from above her. Baylahn screamed out emotionally, "I don't know if
I can make it without you!"
"I did what I came to do, Baylahn. And my winds created waves, and now those
waves shall pass on to you. I expect great things from you, do not forget the
things I have taught you. And tell them all, I lived a good life." uttered
the final words of Treyliu as she curtseyed gracefully and faded away.
As if almost feeling anger for the first time in her life, she glares at
Aulrathdian's stern gaze as he laughs from inside the village...
This is war.
