Description

You see before you a handsome man, who stretches over six feet in length. His hair is reddish brown, slightly unkempt, and pulled back into a pony tail with a leather strap. You notice three braids hanging down the left side of his face, with pieces of what appear to be bone tied in. His skin is well tanned and a bit leathery for one who holds such youth in his eyes, which are green and full of life. A fairly thick beard of red and brown adorns his youthful visage, which is odd, considering you notice his pointed ears, betraying elven heritage on one side of the family. He is handsome, but not uncommonly so. He is not an overly large man, but there is obvious strength in him, with large forearms and hands. His armor is mismatched and worn, though it appears to be well cared for.

Role

Belric VI, Son of Belric V Wolfsbane

Added Wed Jul 28 12:31:51 2010 at level 17:
Belric is the son of a human chieftain of the lands north of Tir Talath and
an elven woman of the Darsylon royal household.Like many of his tribe, his
father was a traveling hero, always looking for glory and adventure. He
earned the last name Wolfsbane for his exploits hunting dire wolves in the
Pine Forest. His mother was shunned for marrying a human and so Belric
resents the elves and particularly the Darsylon nobility. He was raised on
ancestor and spirit worship, and so often asks for their blessings. The
shaman of his village proclaimed him to be of the Flames in the Deep Earth.
He has come to see this as a sign from the ancestors to learn the teachings
of Thror. He has a twin sister who was seduced by the easy power of magic
and eventually turned to evil. Due to the deep connection he had with her,
he feels betrayed because of this, and will in turn seek the Village. He
should develop into a Beowulf type of character, placing glory, honor and
fame high on his list of priorities. Depending on how it develops, this
could become an issue with the Village later in life. His actual last name
will come later down the line after he has done great deeds.

Belric and Allyana

Added Wed Jul 28 12:43:25 2010 at level 17:
Darkness was falling as my men and I left our camp on the southern eaves of
the Great Pine Forest of the North. We were hunting a great beast who had
terrorized the people of the northern mountains for some months. He was a
dire wolf of exceptional size, ferocity and cruelty. Some even said he was
an incarnation of the Ancient called Beroxxus. This was our third night on
the hunt, there were only a few injuries amongst my men and we had already
slain nine of the wolves. I had claimed five myself. We were moving quickly
through the twisting trails when a clamor of howls and screams went up to our
west. Moving as one my six men and I spread out and sprinted towards the
commotion. We were not quite prepared for what we were about to witness.

As we burst into a moonlit clearing, we saw no less than fifteen of the great
beasts assaulting a small contingent of what looked like elves.Already,
many of the elves were down, being ripped apart by the yellow-eyed killers.
After a slight hesitation, I gathered myself and bellowed a challenge to the
wolves. My men, roused from their trance, joined in my war cry and we set
upon the vicious devils. I hurled my spear at the nearest wolf. It hit him
so hard that it drove clear through and pinned him to the ground as it rolled
him over. My sword came out and my shield off my back as I charged into the
fray. I bashed into the next wolf in my way and pushed him off of the
mangled elven corpse. I regained my footing at the same time as the beast,
and was just able to dodge underneath the lunging beast and drive my sword up
my face. The next wolf did not even see me coming as a strong downward
stroke decapitated him.

With no immediate enemies I stopped to take stock of the situation. One of
my men and twelve of the wolves were down. We were pressing home an
overwhelming victory. The three wolves that remained turned tail and made
for the forest. One, which was much larger than the others, stopped at the
edge of the clearing and turned to us. He snarled and let loose a piercing,
evil howl of which I have never heard the like again. He looked right at me
with his hateful eyes, snarled, turned, and disappeared into the forest. It
had felt as though he were boring into my soul, like he was marking me for a
later time. Perhaps it truly was the Lord of Pain. Only time will tell.

It appeared we had arrived too late, for I saw no movement among the elves.
I did however, hear a whimpering behind me. One of the elven maidens was
still alive, though she was pinned down by the carcass of one of the wolves.
I heaved the dead wolf off of her and laid eyes on the most beautiful thing I
had ever seen. I thought that I must have been a terrible fright to her at
first, covered in black blood like I was. But as I helped her to her feet,
she jumped upon me and wrapped her arms tightly around me. I was madly in
love and vowed by the Ancestors to make her my wife.

Birth of the Twins

Added Wed Jul 28 12:48:24 2010 at level 17:
I remember the first gasps of air my son took and his clear, loud screams as
he learned of his voice. My heart filled with joy as the shaman raised him
into the air of our bedchamber and proclaimed him to be healthy and fit to
bear the name of his forefathers.

"Belric the Sixth! Taken by the Spirits from the Flames of the Deep Earth and
granted to Belric the Fifth Wolfsbane as his son and heir! May the Ancestors
inspire him to great deeds!" The call from the shaman went up into the air
and was answered by the other members of the tribe present. My three
brothers, the Council of Eight Warriors and the two midwives. My wife
screamed again and the midwives exclaimed in surprise. There was another!

"Baleara! Taken by the Spirits from the Ice of the Far Reaches and granted
to Belric the Fifth Wolfsbane as his first daughter! May the Ancestors bless
her with wisdom and compassion!" The second call from the shaman went up and
was answered by those present.

I was speechless and overwhelmed with happiness. This was also very welcome
news, because we had just been informed my messenger only two days before
that Allyana was no longer welcome in the home of her father, one of the
Princes of Darsylon. They had been angered by her marriage, but once they
found out that she would give birth to a half breed child, they disowned her.
She had been hit hard by her familys refusal to understand, but I was sure
this would assuage the pain. I could already see her cheerful demeanor
returning as she laid eyes upon her newborn children.

Fire and Ice I

Added Wed Jul 28 13:01:01 2010 at level 17:
My son and daughter could not have been more different. Though the slightly
pointed ears gave both of them away as half elves, my son took on no other
traits of the elven form. His facial features were square and rugged, his
eyes did not take on the almond shape of his sisters. Where he was reckless
and passionate, his sister was calculated and reserved. Where he was
somewhat foolish and carefree, she was wise and thoughtful. While he loved
to wrestle, play outside and get dirty, she preferred to study, sit inside
and comb her hair to perfection. Yes, they could not have been more
different. But they loved each other dearly, and he would go to any length
to protect her, and she any length to care for him when he was hurt or get
him out of trouble with soft words and a flash of her enchanting smile.

The sundering of the twins and the fall of my daughter came in their
thirtieth year, right before my son left for the Great Academy in Galadon. I
believe the seeds were sown six years before that though. My son and I had
just returned to the tribe after his first adventure into the wild lands of
the north. He had slain a great bear near the ruins of a once massive mead
hall. I was so proud of him and we were welcomed back with cheers and
revelry. But all was not well in our home. Baleara had met a charming young
man from a group of traveling merchants that was staying in the village and
my wife clearly did not approve. They had spent the last few days yelling at
each other. I was able to calm things down, but my daughter was not the same
after that.

For the next few years, she would often go off on her own into the woods,
where before she would go only with my son. Although she had always been
reserved, she had also always been happy. It seemed now that she was
constantly depressed or angry, unless she was leaving to go on one of her
walks. We found out why after those few years. She had taken up with the
charming young man, whom I did not trust after just one look at him. I tried
to placate my daughter, for she was obviously attracted to this man, but I
could not bring myself to trust him, and telling her so led to more than one
yelling match. When my children were twenty nine, things got much worse.

Fire and Ice II

Added Wed Jul 28 13:02:33 2010 at level 17:
It was then that we learned about the charming young mans hold over my
daughter. He was teaching her to use magic. That in itself was not a
terrible thing, my wife has some affinity for magical ways, and as long as a
man does not use it in battle, there is not shame in it. But my daughter was
learning dark magics of summoning, calling upon the spirits to serve her,
ripping them from the ethereal plane. We had a sit down with her, and my
wife and I tried to figure out where we had gone wrong. Our own daughter!
Dishonoring her ancestors in such a way! When my son returned from one of
his adventures, he learned of this and went to confront her. He got into a
fight with the charming young mage and beat him rather badly. His sister
could not forgive him. Over the next year they hardly spoke, and when my son
came upon her in the woods on the eve of their thirtieth birthday, he saw
something that was unforgivable.

Sundering of the Twins

Added Wed Jul 28 13:08:28 2010 at level 17:
Baleric slipped through the woods nearly unnoticed, he was hunting a great
cougar in a densely forested vale. Night time was fast approaching and he
would have to turn back soon. It was just as the last rays of the sun had
disappeared over the mountain top that he came to the edge of the clearing
and saw the evil sight. He immediately noticed Baleara, despite the blood
red robe that covered her body and half of her face. There were four other
figures similarly clothed and they all stood around a glowing circle on the
ground. As the figures chanted, the air between them shivered and swirled.
Something began to manifest itself in front of them. A shadowy figure,
something truly evil.

Belric bellowed a warcry and burst from the trees, rushing the circle of now
stunned mages. The ghostly being wavered and screamed at Belric as he
charged. The robed figures turned in surprise as he barreled into them. He
screamed at Baleara to get clear and save herself. The four robed figures
regrouped and now came at Belric. He sized them up and dove into the fray,
punching pushing and tackling, giving them a thorough beating. They were no
match for this large, enraged man. As he knocked the last one down, he
turned to his sister, but for the first time did not recognize her. There
was hatred in her eyes, and pain on her face. It was then that he realized
his sister was gone, fallen to evil, and that was when all hell broke loose
as well.

One of the mages lying on the ground reached out as he tried to drag himself
to his feet, only his hand crossed the magical barrier that was holding the
shadowy being at bay. In an instant, he had been pulled into the circle and
the shadowy figure annihilated him. Shredding and ripping him, the screams
of the doomed mage could be heard for miles. As it finished with the first
mage, it broke free of the summoning circle and turned on the already
weakened magi. Belric turned and grabbed his sister, disappearing into the
forest as the screams of the tortured magi went up behind them. He ran for
miles before stopping, and when he finally set his sister down, she could
only look at him with contempt. Before he could even form words, she uttered
an arcane phrase and disappeared before his very eyes. That was the last
time he ever saw her.
