Description
This minotaur is heavily thewed even for his far-roaming kind. At eleven
feet tall, his bulk is concealed in a double coat of thick fur. Black on his
face, cape, and shoulders, this lightens to chestnut about his lower arms and
legs. Streaks of coal grey and auburn ripple in the black fur, appearing and
vanishing just as quick. His eyes are a cold calculating blue, slanted and
facing forward on either side of the great black snout. Two horns of ebony
climb from the massive skull, a good three feet in length they boast wicked
looking points.

Background

Bjffyn was born to a witch named Guilwaitha, who's auroxophile coven for long
bred minotaurs to be their lovers, servants, and muscle. The coven, bound to
Lord Morius, grew more powerful with every bloody birth and death of the
delivering mother. Their sacrifices and offerings this way sustained their
numbers, and fed their magic.
Bjffyn was born the same as his half brothers, his birthing cry sounded at the
same time as his mother's death rattle. Guilwaitha used her blood magic
to cast one final spell, praying for her son's protection and strength.
His first twelve years saw his growth to immense proportions, as he and his
cousins rebuilt the pile that the coven resided in. Daily he trained for war
under the gaze of his father, Oborvel, and ran the cliffs and vales near the
keep. His schooling saw limited understanding of the spoken tongue, but he
made up for this by learning to pen missives that far exceded his verbal
abilities. His writings made him stand out among his peers.
His coming of age saw him introduced to the coven in a more intimate manner,
when several of the ranking witches chose him as their favorite. Displacing
his uncle, Sagorius, from Head witch Gemanka's side caused a political rift.
Sagorius was the most verbally articulate of the minotaurs, and held
sway over the majority. He riled the other warriors against Bjffyn.
The accusations were that Bjffyn had not earned his place, and was no warrior
at all. Gemanka did not wish to lose her young lover, but she also needed
to placate the militant arm of the work force. Bjffyn lost the ring fight.
The decision was made to send Bjffyn south, down out of the steppes and the
northern hinterland, into exile as an emissary, to learn his place serving
the coven. Bjffyn gladly accepted, rejecting the sloth and avarice pervading
his home he set off for a brighter future. As he traveled, the spells
that were woven on him by the coven began to fade, and he began to see clearly
for the first time in his life.
He began to see life as combat. All speech is violent, used to sway opinion
and cast out enemies. The priests were the first to use words as violence,
consoling and threatening in the same sentence they take the farmer's bread,
and put themselves in positions of leisure. All words are used to increase
one's power, and diminish others access to resources. Bjffyn is a
pragmatist, it does not bother him that things are this way, they just are.
Bjffyn, disowning the degeneracy of his upbringing, hopes to forge his soul
in steel through battle and combat, so that his actions show his resolve.
However, he is now always wary of words dipped in honeyed poison.
As his mind continues to clear from the coven's influence, Bjffyn learns about
Thera and warfare, and looks for others of his kind. He has heard about a
lord of conflict and warfare named Lord Panmorne, and seeks to learn more
about his religion.
Shunned by the Light
Added Tue Sep 2 12:28:50 2025 at level 27:
Bjffyn had an initially positive experience with his guildmaster in Voralien,
when she instructed him on guild etiquette after reproachment for his
spilling sacrificial wine on the floor.
However, she told him his kind shun/are shunned in Voralien. She asked him
to avoid killing elves and he told her he would, wishing to respect her and
thankful for any guidance.
Bjffyn relocated his sparring grounds to Velkyn, training on the evil guards
there instead. On a trip back to Galadon for supplies, he was accosted by
one named Vessith, who asked him strange questions. Bjffyn gave Vessith his
spare cloak, and noticed Vessith accompanied Haeldor the paladin.
Later, Bjffyn was training in Velkyn when Vessith and Haeldor passed by.
Bjffyn went to sleep, hoping the guards to return, and Vessith began casting
evil prayers upon him. B awoke to ask why, and was greated with silence.
When Vessith attacked him, B took the upper hand, until Haeldor the paladin
prayed for Vessith's wounds to be healed and laid hands upon him.
B died, and was then told by both his assailants that he was not smart enough
to comprehend why.
Bjffyn has learned a great lesson from these encounters. The guildmaster in
Voralien showed concern that a minotaur was in town, and looked to
protect her elves. There was only concern for their centers of power and its
denizens. Vessith, titled Jokester, accepted Bjffyn's cloak, then attacked
with the aid of a hero thirty ranks above Bjffyn. Bjffyn was struck because
Vessith rightfully thought he could get the paladin to help him murder one of
balance they came across.
Bjffyn understands that light is just like dark, it does what it wants and
protects its in-group, free of consequence it uses its powers for selfish
reasons. Light and Dark are opposing centers of power, and those of balance
are left in a no man's land between, hunted by both sides. Both sides kill
without reason or purpose, enjoying the thrill of slaughter.
The only difference between the two that Bjffyn has seen is that Light will
talk down to you from a claimed perch of moral superiority, and only show
their true natures when none are about to witness.
Having a hero cabal paladin, thirty ranks above him, pray to keep his attacker
alive rankles him greatly. B views Fort as a small group of cowards huddled
around a fire, their backs to the rest of Thera.
B was treated kindly by two fire giants and a duergar that reached out to
him and offered friendship. Kreklaarn, Jaxba, and Gorvak.
They all have showed more kindness and acceptance to him than lightwalkers.
This is shifting his worldview to a darker orientation, and he feels he owes
nothing to the elves of Darsylon.
