Description

This fire giant is slightly larger than most and is the epitome of orderly martial appearance. He wears his hair in curls just below his ears, well maintained and powdered enough to disguise the natural orange color his race is prone to. Cheeks and chin are meticulously shaven to leave a trim beard, just enough to demonstrate the level of attention being paid it on a daily basis. His eyes are flaming embers sunk in deep sockets and stand out against his midnight-black skin. Bokrahr's body is fit, as though he has disallowed blemishes or scarring, his muscles toned and evenly built. He favors the heavy armor of the fighter guilds and keeps each piece burnished, polish keeping the coloration dark and even across his chosen battlegarb.

Role

Background

Added Sat Jul 15 17:34:36 2023 at level 1:
Parry. Block. Cleave. Meditate. Lashes fell on Bokrahr's shoulders to alert
him to the next combatant. A brother. Parry. Block. Cleave. Meditate. Lashes.
A distant cousin, this time. The cadence continued until he was the last
contestant standing, marking him strongest.

He was thus chosen for grand purpose.

The shaman of Mount Tochal-Rah anointed Bokrahr champion under the One Law
and conveyed to him that the stench of weakness had been detected in their
volcano. Thus all unguilded with the blood of Lord Tochal-Rah in their
geneology had been gathered to prove their strength. It was now Bokrahr's
appointed task to determine the source and eliminate it to save their race.

Bokrahr trained and watched his kin from a new point of view. Over time he
came to believe that the weakness he is tasked to destroy stems from short
sightedness inherent in all fire giant society. Only the strong of body
survive their upbringing but the weak of mind are tolerated and inevitably
come to cross purposes resulting in chaotic giants preying on their lands.
Ruled by Order himself it isn't a surprise that he concluded that's exactly
what Mount Tochul-Rah and the rest of the fire giant race needs. Even the
test that selected him was flawed. They must learn to weed out those who
lack the strength of will to follow.

In his dreams from then on, as his weapon lashed at the shabby forces of
chaos, he'd instinctively block with a titanium kite shield.

Following the symbol to the Divine Asylum, he realized that binding himself
to the Holy Overseer is the key to fulfilling this task and bringing true
Dominion and Obedience to fire giantdom. He will serve Destuvius by joining
the Empire to wage brutal war for darkness and order.

Notes

Added Sat Jul 15 17:36:55 2023 at level 1:
In addition to the overarching motivations and background previously noted,
here are character notes for Bokrahr.

* Well read and better spoken compared to most fire giants - a difficult
but worthy effort made in pursuit of his task.

* Very low tolerance for disorderly appearance and conduct and conversely
predisposed towards perfectly coiffed and attired sorts.

* First a fighter and student of the One Law, he prides himself on showing
his faith through strength of arms even as he's grown to allow that true
strength lies in the darkness, order, dominion, and obedience.

* Order will be played out as strict adherence to rules - not loyalty. He
considers himself totally free of obligation to any fellow giants, just
called to better them by supplying darkness and order.

* Thus he is less ostentatious and more overzealous. His preferences were
learned from guidelines for appearance found in the Divine Asylusm.

* Mt. Tochal-Rah is a volcanic mountain in the Western Aryth and has
characteristics similar to Mt. Kiadana-Rah, including a patron who is
Bokrahr's distant blood-kin and a constant siege of storm giants.

Prayer

Added Tue Jul 25 22:57:14 2023 at level 25:
Bokrahr has yet to meet his deity, his sect leader, or an Emperor. In
Destuvian fashion he still spends every waking moment advancing the tasks
before him.

Dominion: Rising to Divine voice granted him access to channel mana through
the codex and critically allowed him to learn to give the blood oath. He is
rigorous about offering the Oath to any who have not taken it and sees it as
his duty to war to dominate the unsworn of the realms and gain as many oaths
as possible. He has oathed two adventurers and expects more. He has both
killed and died for this.

Obedience: Bokrahr both follows Imperial law and pursues the task assigned
him on Tochal-Rah. There is no conflict between the two. He has returned once
to Tochal-Rah to show his new powers but is not yet able to effect either
systemic political change or to overthrow the entire mountain for the Empire.
He will focus on gaining strength both to rise in the Empire and dominate his
home mountain to fulfill the task that lead him to adventure.

Darkness: The Empire needs growth and leaders. Its weakness is in lack of
numbers. The answer is given by the sect guardian. The bloodoath must be
spread.

Order: Diplomacy can be strength. Some Tribunal have proven to be strong
fighters. The design of that cabal makes for a strong competitor. But they
seem to forsake dominion over their subjects and that invites chaos. They
will be worth further watching. Since their Law is not entirely consistent
with Imperial Law they must be dominated by strength of arms or politics.
Realistically the Empire is not strong enough to dictate terms so politics
would be smarter, but push comes to shove orderly conduct requires obedience
of Imperial Law even if conflict arises earlier than desirable.

Plans

Added Sat Jul 29 20:10:18 2023 at level 32:
Destuvius asked his Priest for plans and Bokrahr complied. He did not include
all his rationale. It was not asked for. If they have questions they will
ask. He does have some thoughts worth memorializing.

1. Protect Divine Sect status and confound the emboldened forces of chaos.

Keeping the Sect strong is clear in Sect Laws and if he plays a clear role in
that he is sure he will be chosen High Priest. That includes making his own
donations and making nobody weakens the Empire. He sips frequently from the
fountain in the Asylum to ensure he identifies his enemies.

2. Dominate Mt. Tochal-Rah in your name under the banner of the Empire. Set
up training ground for legions.

This was the first task Bokrahr was given and he aspires to be Lord
Tochal-Rah, utilizing his skills to identify the chaotic elements, crushing
them, and installing Imperial soldiers to maintain Order. Mt. Tochal-Rah
could be quite the breeding and proving ground for Centurions and other
imperial soldiers. At any rate, he must complete this task to "free" himself
to focus entirely for a time on advancement in the Empire.

3. Bring Dominion, Obedience, Darkness, and Order to front of mind for Empire.

The role of the Divine Sect is to be the hand and voice of the Imperial Gods.
As a Destuvian Bokhrahr knows he will be rewarded for catalyzing a renewal of
understanding of and adherence to imperial law. Doing this will take coin and
effort. If he could become Destuvius' Preacher he might spread word of the
Design, but as he channels the Design's Gears of War he does not shy from
confrontation, like that with the Black Sect necromancer who was traveling
with a chaosite. Attacking the gnome impressed the Black enough that they
agreed to seek Destuvius' the fountain themself. This activity must continue.
Leaders are never idle.

4. Grow your Empire through the blood oath.

Bokrahr has given 3 oaths and would give 30 more if he could. This does not
aid a sect. They take ownership when they raise the oath to Citizenship. It
is purely additive to the Empire.

5. Reward service and fealty to the Law with material aid. Punish oath-
breaking with vengeance.

Only weak minded Divines would curry favor by tolerating violations or
rewarding indolence but any master must reward obedience. A High Priest must
be known to set an example for the Empire by rewarding fealty to the Law and
punishing disloyalty with vengeance. Thus encouraging proper behavior serves
the interests of the Divine and is allowable for a Sect member.

6. Show at least one in another Sect to your Divine Asylum.

A perfect solution to Sect Law prohibiting certain interactions with other
sects. God is above Sect. If the blood oath provides a strong unity of
purpose, Destuvian councilmembers will be vastly preferable to others for
obvious reasons and will narrow competition in a vote.

Submission

Added Thu Aug 3 17:45:51 2023 at level 37:
Bokrahrs arrival on Tochal-Rah sets off a flurry of activity. His
centurions part the way and he enters the mountain. His giants hustle to
present properly and it shows. He makes a mental note to have them replaced
with servants who do not need their masters attention to remain ready.

In his chambers Lord Tochal-Rah rages. He is not willing to submit to Empire.
Cannot understand that this betrays mental weakness. Cannot believe what the
quest he set Bokrahr on has led to. For himself, Bokrahr both erred, was
demoted, and restored to rank today and outside the Asylum indulges in an
hour of sheer seething rage at his failure.

When he is finished Lord Tochal-Rah understands the great power he wields
though the Design, and broken and bloody, takes the blood oath. Bokrahr exits
to his own chambers and when he emerges is once again the picture of perfect
civilized composure. No going back he thinks. Only forward. His Lord promised
he would be stronger for it and so he is.

With coin for supplies, Lord Tochal-Rah his sworn servant, and Centurions
guarding the entrance, Mt. Tochal-Rah begins to resemble what Bokrahr needs
it to be to hold his task fulfilled. Still the forces of chaos infect the
volcano and without uniformly trained soldiers opposing them the battle
continues.

Phase 2?

Added Sun Aug 27 13:31:32 2023 at level 51:
Bokrahr retreats to Tochal-Rah to plot a correction. He has concluded that he
lacks wit. This Thera is more complicated than he imagined. Enacting the
Design cannot be done everywhere like in giant society.

He had determined that it was appropriate to earn a wanted mark in service to
Empire. He prosecuted the anathema in town and out and became marked by the
enemy Blood Tribunal. He did not consider it criminality for Mt. Tochal-Rah
teaches little value for such things except as strong power channeled by
mortals through their item. He was no thief or Lordless warrior. He was a
fighter for Empire.

It did not occur to him until Destuvius ignored him entirely that his actions
might be outside his Lord's Grand Design. The lesson is apparent and he will
not earn a mark again.

----------------

Bokrahr only moves forward. He knows that righteous anger at those departing
from the Design, refusal to tolerate it in the slightest, and his willingness
to do what must be done are marks of the master. He emulates this even if
that means taking his own life to correct matters.

He has the ability to reject that which is natural to him and advance himself
towards the perfection preferred by his Lord.

Should he conclude he is too weak to bear his Lord's shield he will destroy
himself. He is not there yet. He trains with discipline. He strikes with
divine wrath. His grand purpose requires him to learn and to become more than
merely giant. To submit himself to his Lord's Grand Design of a civilized
future, not the witless giant's dream of dominion.

----------------

Bokrahr plans a task that will require perfecting his mind, demonstrating
understanding of the Design, and learning arts more subtle than the sword.
