Description
Standing at a hearty four feet, this dwarf is something of a
monstrosity. His shoulders are hunched, his forehead perpetually
wrinkled, and his hair is an incurable mess of thick black frizz. The
frizz continues uninterrupted into a squared off beard that completely
disguises the lower half of his face. From his moustache up, however,
many stories could be told. His skin wrinkles and creases in all the
places it should from years of physical toil. However, his hairline
appears to be unnaturally receded, and replaced by a bubbling mass of
scar tissue representative of old burns. Even odder, his kin appears
to have two tones: a ligher, more fragile creamy white, and an older,
more leathery tan. The white areas bubble across the surface of the
tan areas like oil through water. The rest of im appears to be fairly
normal. He is heavy, strong, and hamfisted. The only other discernibly
odd feature is a barely noticeable but obviously painful limp.
Role
Heraldry

In his long absences, Borom visits libraries. He has begun to love
books, and lthough his grasp of the language isn't as adept as some,
he enjoys nothing more than reading. All subjects fascinate him
equally, even the history of the Battleragers. For Borom, books are
samples of truth. Being continually frustrated by the question of one
truth versus many truths, Borom takes comfort in a book's ability to
record a small amount of someone's personal truth within its pages. He
hunderstands the creative act involved in writing something down, and
loves the transmission of information from writer to paper to reader.
For Borom, all Heraldry can be summarized by the transmission of
knowledge, and although he isn't as adept with reading and writing as
he is with his hands, he respects books as the pruest form of this
idea, and thus the most elegant and one of the more beautiful
ways of injecting knowledge into the Cycle.
Borom and his Past
Added Fri Oct 3 22:20:14 2008 at level 31:
Borom has never been completely honest about his past, and will
probably never divulge it. He's not particularly traumatized by his
youth, just prefers not to focus on tragedy.
The scars on his head are from a pain ritual, a forced initiation into
the cult of which his Father was a member, a sadomasochistic offshoot
of the Noldarian Smiths focused solely on strength through pain. Borom
understood very little of it, but endured the rituals out of respect
for his father. As he grew older, however, his stomach began to twist
with a growing intuition about the cult. He knew he had another
destiny. Several days before he came of age, he very calmly packed his
things and left Akan. There was nothing dramatic or honorable about his
departure from his native home, only a sense of a page turning. For
this, Borom harbors no hard feelings for his father. He understands simply
that his father's destiny was not his.

Battleragers: Borom dislikes Battleragers for their uncivilized,
disorderly, fanatical, and backwards ways. He sees their lack of
progression over the years as an unfortunate stain on his racial
heritage, and privately moruns his race's unfortunate and stubborn lack
of forward thinking.
Herald: Borom sees the Heralds as a positive force for truth and open-
mindedness in Thera. He enjoys the resources conferred to him by his
membership in the organization, and endeavors to use these resources to
further his personal goals and ability to honor the cycle. He views the
Heralds as a necessary balancing factor with its comparatively passive
way of introducing Creation into the cycle. He takes an interest in the
comfort and well being of the people around him as he sees positive
relationships, and experiences to be the most powerful counterbalance
to a characteristically hostile world.
Borom's long-term goals in Herald are simple. He seeks not only to
further his own creativity, but to inspire creativity in others. He
hopes to use Herald as a venue to not only gain knowledge of the world
(and thusly of the Cycle and the Order), but to redistribute this
knowledge upon others, thereby strengthening the Order and Thera in
general. Knowledge is perhaps the most precious vehicle of Creation,
the currency that lubricates the hardy economies of the cycle. It is to
be respected and loved and shared freely and generously.
Influences

Sphere Creation: Borom worships Creation's role in an inherently
balanced Thera.
Orderly Ethos: Borom believes all things are in line with each other,
and that ethese things cannot help but contribute to a greater,
ineffable order. It is thusly that Borom tries whenever possible to
work with the systems in place, rather than going against them. The
idea of rebellion is foreign to Borom, and has been replaced in him by
his private ambitions and a need to create.
Neutral Alignment: Borom picks few quarrels. He is generally ambivalent
to most of the political organizations and affiliations in Thera,
accepting them as they are as a necessary contribution to the natural
orer. The one group he takes a distinct dislike to is Battleragers,
but this dislike manifests itself secondary to his passive acceptance
of their existence.
Philosophy
Added Sat Aug 30 02:30:59 2008 at level 19:
Borom believes quite solidly in the natural order of things. He
believes there is a cycle of creation and destruction that all things,
knowingly or unknowingly, adhere to. He believes this cycle is
ultimately balanced, and that the actions or inactions of all living
things inherently contribute to this balance. His attempts at creating,
either in terms of physical objects, knowledge and information, or in
relationships amongst people are his way of coming to terms with and
honoring this cycle.
