Description

A feline figure is here, fur covering every inch of his body. The fur on his body is black, black as night. His fur is short in length but sleek and looks almost slick to the touch. With a shine to it, almost appearing reflective at times. The two green emerald colored eyes peering out of the fur shine as bright as lanterns as the light hits them just right. In his left you note that there is a big notch cut out, as if he had been marked like a livestock animal. Strips of fur are missing across various portions of his skin, scarred and turned white in color. Depending on where you look you'll also see slim strips and patches of bare flesh where the fur is no longer growing. While he is somewhat taller than most of his race by a few inches, his body doesn't seem to be particularly stout or muscular. This adds a leanness to his figure that gives you a hint of how efficient he tries to make his movements. While noticing all of this you forget to look at his tail, while looking at it, the first thing you notice is that it's shorter than average and if you manage to get an even closer look at it you can tell that the tail has been clearly cut in half at some point in his life. When you take another glance you notice...

The Childhood of Brakrar Shadowlock

Added Sat Jan 12 23:33:20 2013 at level 13:
When he was barely old enough to retain memories, Brakrar was stolen from his home
and sold into slavery. That night would haunt him and frustrate him like nothing
else could. While he could remember his original name from his parents, Brakrar,
that night all he could remember was being stolen, everything else was a blank. For
all he knew, his family and village could be lying in ruins, nor has he ever been
able to remember the location of his village so that he could check. His time of
being a slave lasted all of his childhood. He was unruly and would escape every
chance that he could, but he was always found and returned. Sold from master to
master until he was roughly ten years of age, he was finally reigned in by a
master who owned a gladiator school. Brakrar escaped only once, and when he was
returned the master chopped off half of his tail. The master had a name but Brakrar
neither knew it nor would have been able to call him by it, to Brakrar he was just
Master. After that incident Master told him that if he ever ran away again that he
should escape his clutches or once he was captured and returned the rest of his tail
would be cut off. Since then Brakrar never made another attempt to escape, even
though he longed to be free. The Master determined that Brakrar was too young and
almost too scrawny to even start training with his gladiators. Instead Master made
him into a house slave, where he was required to learn his letters and the etiquette
of being a civilized person. Over the next few years Brakrar grew and the Master
had him trained in the manner of fighting because he required all of his slaves to
know such things in case the need should ever arise to defend the Master or his
home. One day, not long after Brakrar judged himself to be thirteen or so, an elf
had been bought by his Master so that he could use the elf in the fighting pits.
After watching the elf by his Master's side Brakrar approached the elf in between
fighting days and learned that the elf was actually a wood-elf and his name was
Thaluel Longbow. Thaluel was enraged at being enslaved and fought fiercely every
chance he got, even getting carried away sometimes by trying to break free which
would only bring him down as the guards had to subdue him and put him back in his
cell to heal and recover until the next fight. It was during these times of in-between
that Thaluel told Brakrar of how much more of the world there was to see and that
he should never quit trying to find a way to free himself, escape the clutches of
civilization and live naturally as it was meant to be. It was also during those
times that Thaluel would speak to Brakrar of a thing he called Thar-Eris and that
Thar-Eris stood against civilization and slavery of any kind. These stories filled
Brakrar with hope and a new sense of purpose that aided him in remaining constantly
vigilant to a chance of escaping. Another few years go by of Thaluel teaching him

the ways of Thar-Eris. However, even as Thaluel taught Brakrar these things he never
demanded or swore Brakrar to take these teachings to heart and follow what he said.
Thaluel was only spreading the word of Thar-Eris and was hoping it would reach an
open mind and be allowed to flourish in that mind. One night Brakrar's chance to
escape finally came. It was a night that had a small sliver of the moon in the sky
but the clouds covered it and all the stars making the night truly dark for anyone
who couldn't see in the dark. Master had been drinking heavily that evening and said
to Brakrar "Shadowlock, go and fetch more firewood from the bins, the night tis a
bit chilly and I'd like to stay warm." Shadowlock was Brakrar's slave name because
his first few masters didn't know his name nor took the time to try and learn it,
so due to his fur and it's color he was named Shadowlock. He kept his true name
from everyone except Thaluel, who suspected that Shadowlock was not his real name
and asked him for it. Knowing that his Master would soon pass out from his drinking
and would be out for several hours until deep into the morning, Brakrar managed to
swipe the skeleton key that his Master had on his belt at all times. Gathering
enough provisions to last a week for two he rushed to Thaluel's cell, freeing him
and handing him his pack they began to run away from their previous life and into
a more hopeful future. They covered as much ground as they could that night because
they knew as soon as they were discovered missing that Master would come hunting
for them. They traveled through the night and well past dawn into mid-afternoon
before stopping to rest. This process was repeated each night and day, it was during
those times that Thaluel then taught Brakrar of the Ancients of Thar-Eris and how
powerful they were. He taught Brakrar mostly of Lady Amaranthe seeing as how he
worshipped her and considered her to be the most powerful of the Ancients because
not only did her aspects bring life or reap death, they did both, which is a
perfect cycle, death to be reaped so that new life can grow. It was on their sixth
day away from the gladiator school when they were ambushed by Master and his
trackers, Thaluel being older, stronger and swifter held them at bay while he forced
Brakrar to flee. As much as he wanted to stay he knew it would be wise to follow
Thaluel's instruction, so he fled, running fast and as hard as he could. A full
day went by before Thaluel finally caught up to Brakrar who waited for him, he
was in poor condition from the fight however and they were many many miles away
from the closest thing that they could call a healer.

The Childhood of Brakrar Shadowlock; Part 3

Added Sun Jan 13 00:06:17 2013 at level 13:
It was here that Brakrar knew he would bury his friend and give him back to Thar-Eris
so that his remains could give new life to it. Thaluel Longbow finally perished
Brakrar did as he promised himself that he would do, he buried Thaluel and then
set out on his own, to live his own life as he chose because that was the true
freedom that Thaluel's sacrifice gave him. Allowing him to live his life in whatever
manner that pleased him the most.

Turning Point

Added Thu Jan 17 00:05:44 2013 at level 34:
After living his free life with no real cause to fight for or anything to worry
about. Brakrar thought it time to seek out the Tree and those of Thar-Eris, to
see if he could learn more than what Thaluel taught him. Also he wanted to learn
of the people living in the Tree and why they joined. After learning the story of
a few, he knew it was a cause worthy to devote his time to. So he pledged himself
to the Outlanders of Thar-Eris and hoped to be accepted among them. He was eager
to prove himself and knew that the branch he sought was leaderless, with no Harbinger
he knew it'd be tougher to gain acceptance but knew he could do it.

Meeting with Mother

Added Tue Mar 26 14:43:13 2013 at level 51:
Many years have passed since Brakrar was first accepted into the branches of the Tree.
He has become a mature Felar now, mature according to his race anyway. In between that
time of then and now a few things have changed, although not as much as he had thought
they would. Auldr, the former Sunwarden, made him think upon his actions and upon the
former actions of the Ancients and upon the Ancients themselves. Many questions had
rumbled through his mind, wanting definitive answers instead of mortal speculation he
decided to seek out his patron, an Ancient herself, who could better answer all of his
questions than Mother Amaranthe herself?

Months passed before Brakrar found the Goddess' Temple. Once he found it he started to
pray to the Mother, unknowingly that it would be years before he would finally see her
before him. He would try to spend a few hours each time he was awake to pray to the
Mother, hoping that she would answer soon so he could have his answers. Due to all the
years spent unsuccessfully hoping to speak with the Mother each time, he learned more
of patience and determination. Finally she answered his prayers and was able to answer
only a few of his questions, however those few that were answered allowed for deep
discussion and thinking. She left, but before doing so she named him Seeker of the
Harvest Moon and told him that they would speak again. Brakrar left the Temple feeling
more inspired and eager to speak with the Mother again, as she said that they would.
For now, however, he was content with the answers that he received and vowed to himself
to seek out more questions and the answers to those questions.

Role Summary: Brakrar Shadowlocke

Added Tue Mar 26 15:11:09 2013 at level 51:
So far Brakrar Shadowlocke has been captured and educated in academics and fighting by
his former Master. He met with a captured wood-elf Thaluel, who taught him the values
and traditions of the Outlanders. They escaped only to be tracked down, they fought the
trackers off but his friend Thaluel was mortally wounded and ended up dying but died a
free man. Making his way through Thera he met Jawn who thought that the winds of Fate
brought them together at that point in time so that Jawn could make him seek others and
gain their approval. Once Jawn became Harbinger he accepted Brakrar into the Refuge
immediately. There was some squabbling within the Tree over Rostrak, a storm giant who
was a paladin that had gained entrance. As well as other things, the current Sunwarden
at the time was Auldr who wasn't popular in the Tree. Auldr spoke with Brakrar that made
him question many things and so to seek better knowledge than mortal speculation he
sought out Mother Amaranthe. Years passed before she answered his prayers. They spoke
at length about some of those questions. Not all of his questions were answered and so
Amaranthe said they would speak again, she left and he walked away from her Temple, for
now.

Meeting with Mother: part 2

Added Tue Apr 30 16:05:11 2013 at level 51:
Not so long of a time passed this time before he spoke with the Mother again. Yet before
he did, he entered into a tournament, Whiysdan's Tournament of Thirteen. While he was not
the first to fall, neither was he the victor. Considering that the Spire held most of
the tournament spots it was a small wonder that one of them did not win it all. As always
he learned more about fighting from his failure and would seek not to make the same
mistakes ever again.

After the tournament he sought out the Mother once more, as she had attended the spectacle
he had hoped that she would stick around for a bit longer. He was pleasantly surprised
when she answered his prayers, just as he was before. They once again spoke at great
length concerning his questions of the Tree and that path it was taking. Having his
questions answered only raised more questions, such as, if the dwarves should be considered
on a case by case basis, then what of the duergar? However instead of giving him more
answers, the Mother burdened him with a task to speak with Andira, a conjurer of the Light
who is a member of the Fortress. She wanted him to hear Andira's story and then speak
with Her again to tell Her, his own opinions. So with that task in his mind he set off
from the Temple once more. Eager to learn more, and eager to return to speak with the
Mother once again.

Meeting with Mother: part 3

Added Tue Apr 30 16:35:53 2013 at level 51:
Mere days passed before Brakrar sought out Andira, a conjurer of the Light who had gained
the Mother's favor and Her mark. Determined to figure out how this was possible he sought
Andira out, however, the first time she professed to be busy and asked to tell the tale
another day. Perturbed but not one to press he agreed to try again another day, he sat
and waited for days to pass before asking her once again to tell him her story. Luckily
for him, she was not busy at the time and was able to tell her story, within the Temple
that allowed her safety from him should he fly into a rage at hearing her story.

While her story was indeed dark, darker and more twisted than he could have imagined he
could also understand why she did it. For that reason and the reason that she had done
more harm to herself, body, mind, and soul, than he ever could have by striking her was
why he chose to spare her from his hunt. In fact knowing that she had found a better way
through Mother Amaranthe and was taught witchlore, lessening her damage greatly to the
world around her, he vowed to aid her and protect her should she ever call upon him for
it. If the Mother so chose to forgive Andira of her actions, and mark her even, then
who was he to judge Andira and hunt her when his own Lady Mother did not strike her down.

After hearing Andira's tale and making his own decision about her, he knew it was time
to seek out Mother Amaranthe once more. Again, he did not have to wait very long before
speaking with Her, days, maybe a month at the most had passed since hearing Andira's tale.
They discussed Andira and the story, once he told the Mother of his opinion and his own
actions, She asked if he truly still sought to walk his current path. After confirming
that such was true She asked for his left paw. Putting his paw into Her hand he saw colors
and stars swirl above him, he could feel his paw thrumming or humming, he could not
decide upon which it was. When everything above him returned to normal She gave him his
paw back, except it wasn't the same as before. Now it had Her mark upon it, an ornate
mandala, proclaiming to all the world that he was Hers. It was probably the happiest and
most significant part of his life that had ever happened besides gaining his freedom from
his old Master. Even though he did not show it outwardly, he was filled to the brim with
joy and love for the Mother. They spoke a bit longer but alas She had to leave again,
once again saying that would meet and speak another time. Brakrar bowed his head in
reverence and walked out of the Temple eagerly awaiting the day that he could talk with
the Mother once more.

Role Summary Update

Added Tue Apr 30 16:44:26 2013 at level 51:
Brakrar entered Whiysdan's Tournament of Thirteen, didn't win but didn't fall first either.
He spoke with Andira, who is one of Amaranthe's chosen, a conjurer. She told him her
background story, while it horrified him, he could understand why she did what she did.
He vowed to protect her and aid her should she ever ask him to do so. After that he spoke
with Amaranthe again, told her his opinion of Andira and her story. Managed to get marked
by Amaranthe and new title, Sentinel of the Seasons, Warrior of the Full Moon.

Harbinger

Added Sat Jun 8 11:02:30 2013 at level 51:
Many years have passed since his marking and the tournament. Jawn, who he felt
was like a father to him, finally fell to age. It was a sad time for Brakrar but
he knew Jawn died on his feet and the way he wanted to go not in some bed merely
waiting for death. With that knowledge in mind he set about his daily tasks once
more. Not long after Jawn fell the Ancients chose Ekaerok as the new Harbinger.
This did not bother Brakrar any, he really had no designs on becoming Harbinger at
that moment, but it did not surprise him that Ekaerok was chosen. Ekaerok was very
strong and good with his swords. A year or so passes while Brakrar hibernates, he
wakes up one day come to find out that the very same day that he awoke, according
to the time by the Gods, Ekaerok had ascended and became a Young Ancient for the
Refuge. Another Harbinger gone, this time, one he considered a brother, although
Ekaerok was not truly gone, he could just no longer affect the mortal world. Days
passed and then finally Brakrar was pulled into the sky beneath the moon. Ekaerok
and to his surprise was Mendos, another dear friend had become a Young Ancient.
He was told that they had been discussing who would be able to lead the branch
best now that Ekaerok was gone. They ultimately decided upon Brakrar, weighted with
this new responsibility and duty he promised himself that he would honor and live
up to their decision of making him the Warrior of the Full Moon, Harbinger of Thar-Eris.

Character Role Summary Update

Added Sat Jun 8 11:05:07 2013 at level 51:
Lots of time passed between the tournament and now, Jawn fell due to old age and
then Ekaerok ascended to become a Young Ancient, Mendos as well. They discussed who
would best lead the Sentinels and agreed upon Brakrar. Brakrar then became known as
the Warrior of the Full Moon, Harbinger of Thar-Eris.
