Description
A tall member of his race, he has blue hair, blue eyes, green skin
and the usual strong shoulders and arms. Lines have come to mark his face,
age taking it's required toll. But upon closer inspection
you see they are mostly laugh lines, and crinkles around the mouth
and eyes that come from smiles, and, perhaps, song or other mirth.
His armor, once new and vibrant, is now more muted, but still strong
and if anything, more comfortable. Nicks and cuts have taken their toll,
obvious evidence of a life spent in battle and toil.
Still, what impresses you most is that despite the advancing age
and the clear years spent fighting and waging some war, his eyes
gleam with a joy and a smile is only a heartbeat from his lips.

As everyone knows, the water giants are impulsive and kind, strong and
stout. Deep within each lies the true joy of life, the knowledge that the
greatest happiness is in happiness itself, and bringing it to everything
one does, no matter what. Not only do few know of this, but even fewer are taught
to fan the spark into flame and live as the passionate joy of life demands.
One school, one holy place teaches this way of life, and it's students leave the
lake to join the world not only to fight the dark, which of course they do, but
also, and of equal importance, to bring mirth and true joy as they do it.
It is because of this that you will see one of these graduates in a pile of
gore, surrounded by blood and guts, and he is laughing, or a song on his lips.
And not a dirge such as the northern barbarians might sing. No, a song of joy,
of happy times or something whimsical. It is at such times more than most that
the true gift of the light, the true feeling of joy, with a strong and undiluted
heart, is felt.
Rarely will you hear an unkind word from one who comes from this school, and only in times
of great, great stress will such a one speak ill of another. Silence is better than a
misplaced word, to him. His heart will grow and his words will spread what is in his heart.
And together, his path to war will be heralded and accompanied by melody.

A lot of time has passed and Brordaran is both the same and yet different.
He is still the man filled with the joy of life, and believing that the knowledge, and feeling
of that joy is of utmost importance, as it is the very light which all serve or seek.
But he is not the childish innocent he once was, either. He has seen, and been part of, much
violence and sadness. He does not despair over such things, for they are as much a part of life
as the happy moments, and they are to be experienced and felt, but he no longer is as simple in
his convictions. He is not as quick to burst into song - though he does sometimes - and he is
somewhat mellowed, he has gained an equal measure of wisdom to balance. He's felt the pangs of loss
and some of the pride of victory and the pleasure of friends and, even, the delight of spending
time with his lord. He is an older man now, but he is still confident that life must be lived, not
merely walked through, whether it be good or bad or fun or tedious. It is the attitude that makes
the difference.
