Description
Bynna is a female half drow with light ebony skin. She is average height
for her kind, and her body is well toned. Her silver shoulder length hair
ends with dark red tips. Two grey eyes stare past a sharp nose and her
lips are average and colored in a red hue. Her left eye has a long scar
running down it, starting at her brow and ending at her cheek. Her
fingers are long and slender, and her hands look rugged as though
they've seen sometime being toiled. Her finger tips seem to be blotted
with ink stains. Upon the back of her neck is a black brand, similar to
one marking a cattle or some other beast.

Song Bird in a Steel Cage

Winter was heavily upon the Imperial Lands as the Yule Tide season had
begun. Snow was falling and the days had shortened. Nobles began the
first day of the Yule Tide only hosting small get togethers with a friend
or two. The more elaborate parties to come days later.
A fine carriage, flanked by Imperial soldiers finds itself stopped before
a lavish manor house. A small cart follows close behind, transporting a
steel cage, and in it a woman. The woman is beautiful, dressed in fine
slave silks and makeup. With little clothing, she shivers in the cold
winter evening, her teeth chattering.
A woman dressed in a fine evening dress and furs steps from the
carriage, looks to her guards, "Get my gift inside and cover it. If anything
happens to it, you lot will find yourself working the roads."
The woman hurries to the manor entrance and is escorted inside while
the guards get the cage and slave from the cart, cover it with a tarp and
takes it inside.
The afternoon turns to evening as the imperial nobles enjoy each
other's company, dinner and entertainment, then it came time for gifts.
The host gifted the visiting noble woman a very expensive jewelled
necklace and matching set of earrings. Seeing that she was pleased with
his gift, he waited in anticipation to receive his.
The woman motioned for her servants to roll in her gift. The noble
man's eyes grew as something large and covered was wheeled in. He
looked to the woman, greed twinkling in his eyes and he lept up to the
covered gift. With a quick pull, the gift was unveiled and he gasped in
excitement.
He reached a hand between the bars of the cage to stroke the slave
girl's exposed thighs only to be annoyed when she pulled away. He
looked back to the noble woman with a questioning gaze.
"Oh my dear Hubert, the girl is still a girl. But she's not here as a toy for
the bedroom." she pauses before continuing, "How did that old yule
tide song go again? Ah, yes!" She grinned to herself before singing
(badly) "On the first day of Yule Tide my true love brought to me, A
Songbird in a Steel Cage."
The nobleman grinned, looking back at the slave girl. "A songbird! Oh
girl, you must sing to us! Go on, sing!"
The girl looked back at the noble woman, who in turn nodded. The
room was filled with an enchanting song as she lifted her voice to fill
the room. When she was done, she sneezed a few times and tried to
warm herself with her hands. The nobles didn't notice, only laughing
with each other at how wonderful the gift was.
The night's festivities ended and day came. The noble woman bid her
farewells and each other wished one another a Wonderful Yule Tide.
On the Last Day of Yule Tide

Winter was heavily upon the Imperial Lands. Yule Tide celebrations
were being held all over Thera. Bynna laid in her cage, feverish from the
cold ravaging her. Her throat was sore and her body barely able to
stand. Even from her room she could hear the roaring enjoyment of her
Master's exquisite and lavish party.
It was not a long time before she was brought to her Master and his
guest. She could barely walk and a few times the guards carried her. She
was set upon an expensive cushioned chair in the middle of the
gathering. She barely noted her Master boasting about her voice. At
first she didn't even hear herself being addressed, not until her Master
was right in front of her, yelling.
"I said sing, girl!" anger evident upon his face and in his voice. She
nodded and he returned to his couch with the other nobles. Bynna
could hear someone remark, "Lets see if this Songbird is as good as you
say, Hubert."
So Bynna did her best to muster up her strength and began to sing. Her
voice once more filled the room with an enchanting melody. Then her
sickness got the better of her. She began to croak and cough, and try as
she could, her voice failed her.
The nobles around Hubert began to laugh and mock him about his
heavenly songbird. Embarrassed, Hubert succumbed to rage and
grabbed Bynna by her hair, yanking her head back.
"Girl, how dare you embarrass me! Sing now and do so as though your
life depends on it."
Bynna's only responce were tears and coughing. Hurbet drew his dagger
and sliced off Bynna's tongue. "I don't need a songbird who can't sing.
Guards, take this wretched thing from my sight. Give her to my
gladiators. They've earned some fun."
Bynna was dragged away, and on the last day of Yule Tide, she was
made a gift again. No holiday song, no happy song, to ever leave her lips
again.
Beauty Mark
Added Wed Nov 22 23:45:55 2023 at level 27:
Time passed. Bynna's short time as a Songbird nearly forgotten. Hubert
certainly had. She found herself living, training, learning with the
gladiators. It was harsh. Gladiators were given more if they won, less if
they lost and lived, and those who had not fought yet, even less.
Bynna's first fight was to come soon. Many of the women gladiators
mocked and jested about Bynna being soft. That her beauty earned her
the nick name, Silent Princess.
This was all coming to an end, she swore. Her first fight was tomorrow
and she worked hard training, favoring small weapons over larger,
heavier ones. She would prove herself a warrior and not some princess
to be made fun of.
The next day came, and several gladiator matches were slated. Her fight
was the second. A boring, quick fight the matchmaker assumed. One
were the nobles could idly chat and mostly ignore.
Her opponent was a fire giant woman, ugly as she was strong. The giant
entered the ring with two sharp hatchets. A sneer crossed her face
when the giant saw Bynna, "Gresh gunna make you Ugly Princess now!"
Bynna only glared back and the giant laughed. The fight went as
expected. Bynna's speed and agility gave her an early advantage. She
made small cuts with her daggers and evaded the giant's blows. She was
going to win her fast match, then all of a sudden, sand filled her eyes.
Bynna was slowed, clutching her eyes, trying to rub the sand out. Blood
replaced sand as an axe stroke, cut down her left eye. The fight was
over.
Defeated, Bynna had a new beauty mark. A nasty scar starting from her
left brow and down to her cheek.

About
Bynna lost her tongue (Mute Flaw). Her scar makes her less attractive
(Repulsive Flaw x1. She's still overall pretty).
She plans to use Daggers and Hand to Hand, preferring close combat
with her face, relying on her speed.
Fate has dealt Bynna her hand. She will need to make the most of it.
Fate also seems to be tugging at her to find the Drowned Goddess. How
will this affect her?
She likes to dance when no one is watching. She imagines the songs she
would sing and how it would move her. It makes her sad and happy at
the same time. Remembering when she could sing.
Dreaming of a Red Yuletide, Just the ones - Part 1

Two years later, deep within the halls of the Shadow Sect, one of the
elite members of the mysterious group calls forth one of its young, and
promising members.
"I have a mission for you." the elite began, "A particular Imperial Noble
found it prudent to insult one of the Emperor's cousins. This cannot be
overlooked, however this is a delicate case. Things need to look as
though something went wrong in his household. Make sure you handle
this with a delicate touch, otherwise the results won't be in your favor."
The young shadow nodded, understanding the task before them. As he
left the Palace, the first snow of the Yuletide began to slowly fall.
Our scene shifts to the home of the Imperial Noble, Hubert. Snow
coated the land after a couple of days from the first night of Yuletide.
Cold, brisk wintery weather bites at exposed flesh, chilling people to
the bone. The slave pens and gladiator chambers felt most of the brunt,
but there were warming fires and extra furs to lay in, as well as each
other. Bynna finds herself snuggled closely with a few of the women
gladiators, each of them doing their best to stay warm.
On this particular night, Bynna has difficulty sleeping. Her thoughts drift
back to the Yuletide night where she was mutiliated, her voice and song
grievously taken from her and then forced into becoming a warrior. Lost
in her despair she almost didn't hear it. The sound was subtle, but
things were silent this night that it carried on the wind. The cell to the
gladiator pens was creaking. Creaking meant it was open.
Bynna looked around the pen, everyone was sleeping soundly. She
escaped the group of women she was huddled with and investigated.
The pen door was indeed ajar and no guards were to be seen. Quickly
assessing the situation, she found one of the gladiators that took her
under their wing and roused them. Within moments, the gladiator
woke the others, keeping them silent, the group agreed this might be
their once chance at escape.
They made their way through the halls, boughs of holly were hung in
decoration, wreaths upon the windows. Master Hubert did not spare
any expeneses. The goal was to escape, but a deep anger was burning
fiercly in Bynna's stomach. She wanted more, she wanted vengance.
Slipping away from the group she quietly moved through the manor, a
glistening dagger in her hand from the weapon storage for the
gladiators, she hoped to find her mark. A couple of guards patrolled the
manner, but they were not focused this night. Thera was celebrating,
even the Empire, for it was Yuletide. This made it easy to go unnoticed.
Humbert's room was just as she remembered. Lavish, and heavily
decorated for the feastive season. It even had its own tree. She found
him, sleeping in his soft, massive bed. She crawled through the bed till
she was kneeling right next to him. She looked down at him, hatred

filled her eyes, hatred and pain, pain for what he had done to mar her.
She lifted her dagger, ready to pierce his small, black heart, when by
sheer bad luck, he awoke! He screamed and knocked her aside, but
Bynna had been trained and cut his route off, forcing Hubert to fall back,
inching closer to the window. Two guards burst into the room, Imperial
Longswords drawn at the ready. She looked at them, then back to her
prey and charged!
Leaping at Hubert, she drove him back into the window and as it
shattered, he along with Bynna fell landing with a thud upon the white
colored earth. Snow continued to fall and the wind howled with
devilish delight. Alarms rang out through the manor, spoiling a silent
escape of the gladiators. That did not concern Bynna, only anger and a
chance of vengenace.
Hubert shook off his daze from the fall and shrieked again, doing his
best to crawl away. There would be no escape as Bynna buried her
dagger deep into his back, not once but twice before rolling him over.
She wanted to watch the light of life fade from his eyes, but he only
grinned an evil smile. This drove her to rage and so she unleashed her
furry. Stab after stab after stab, blood flowed and flew. The once
brilliant white snow darkned with red. Even after Hubert's last gasp of
breath, Bynna continued to stab him. Tears rolled down her cheeks,
freezing into ice as all her pain and despair flooded out of her.
It was a red yuletide.
Thunder Upon the Winter Sky
Added Wed Dec 27 16:57:58 2023 at level 51:
The days of Yule were coming to an end, and it was Bynna's first since
joining the Fortress. Snow was common for the Fortress, nestled deep
in the Redhorn, but tonight the sky roared with thunder and the
mountains shook. Most of the Fortress slept, the boisterious thunder
kept in check by the barrack's stone walls.
Bynna sat upright in her bunk, cold sweat dampening her clothing as she
breathed heavily, tears rolling down her cheeks. Her dreams were filled
with the faces of her fellow gladiators, men and women who would
never experience a free Yuletide.
She pulled her knees to her chest and buried her head in them. She
wept. It was all my fault she thought. A flash of light briefly filled the
room followed by a loud crack of thunder. She hated herself. She hated
that she wanted vengance so badly that her greed for it drove her to be
selfish and cost them. Cost them their chance to escape.
Would my soul ever find peace for what I have done, she questioned.
She was the only one to escape, to live. She remembered fleeing. She
remembered the smell of Hubert's blood, how it stained her skin, her
clothing, her nostrils. She was lucky. They didn't look for her. Forgotten.
Bynna looked over to her sleeping comrades. They slept peacefully.
How would they treat her if they knew what lives she cost, how she let
her greed for vengance over take her? She shook her head.
No. That was then. I'm different. Now. I'll do what I can to protect them,
to protect the people. No more should suffer. Even if my last breath is
upon the field of battle, I can't let something like that happen again.
There must be no fear, only courage. The thunder cracked sending
shudders through the stone fortress as though to affirm her thoughts.
The rain fell, the lightning flashed, and the thunder roared. No one
could hear the sadness in Bynna's tears. No one could hear the resolve
in her heartbeats. Just thunder upon the winter sky.
