Description

An ordinary looking person is before you plainly dressed with a hooded robe pulled over his head reveals little at glance. Initially dismissing him your attention is drawn back as you notice heavy Scarring at the union of what seems to be the join between various different skin tones. Shadows seem to cling to this figure like a finely tailored coat.

Bound and gagged, Cadmar had long given up the will to fight as he was
dragged through the basement deep within Veran. His way dimly lit by
the blueish crystals set on the walls, came to an abrupt end as the
shadowed figure released the grip on one of his legs, reaching forward
to push open the western door. Opening freely on well oiled hinges
it was not long before Cadmar was dragged deeper into the corridor.

As his legs were released and fell to the ground he was left in silence
a silence only to be broken by the rolling of a heavy object across
the hard block floor. As the sound grew louder and louder it was soon
replaced by the grunts of effort, the snapping of bone, and Cadmar's
muffled screams through his mouth gag. The shadowed figure moved quickly
a brass knuckled fist striking Cadmar in the temples knocking him out
cold. Placing a few rocks around Cadmar's arm to prop it upwards the 
shadowed figure places a signet ring of the royal academy in Cadmars 
hand before binding it shut in a clenched fist.

Striking a match to light a fuse the shadowed figure turns towards the
corridor and as it closes the door utters the words.

"Cadmar free"

The Final Breath - How Did We Get Here

To understand how "Our Hero" met this fate one needs to roll back the
clock some one hundread years. Cadmar was born to good decent parents,
and what the lack in money and standing them more than made up for in
good moral values and love for thier son. These positive attributes 
were evident in Cadmar as well, he helped where he could around the 
megre plot of land his family called a farm. But for the three of them
the small trips to the market, and the food from the land gave them
roof over thier head and food in their belly.

It was this ultimately that would lead to Cadmar's sense of adventure.
Time was of an abundance and barefoot he could cover vast lengths of 
land, and his ventures grew ever wider, as the years went by he would
circle ever wider from the plot of land north east of Prosimy, The 
Cursed Mansion, The Wider Forest of Prosimy, Barovia and its keep. The
adventures grew and grew until he stumbled on the ruins of Veran.

This for Cadmar of all places he had seen, one full of ancient history
one of horrific mutated creatures. It was here this place that brought
him so much wonder and joy in the excitement of discovery. That would
exact a heavy price.

The Final Breath - How Did We Get Here

It was a day much like the days before, after dealin with the plants, 
rats and hybrid's that wandered the ruins of Veran. Finally Cadmar once
again made it to the gates. The golems had blocked his way countless
times, but this time, he noticed a brief flash as he approached the gates
something attuned to the golems. Fascinated he watched as the eye of the 
watch golem's glow for a moment, only to fade as the golem's ceased all 
motion. That simply he stepped beyond the gates, he had been here before 
but having fought his way in with a hybrid in chase he had to pick a quick
way out. But now finally he would be able to explore the city ruins with
little to interupt him.

Soon he found himself inside a labratory, and it was the tanks that 
fascinated him the most. He felt as tho he was standing in the very birth
place of some of the hybrid animals that lurked in the ruins.

The first tank floating in a fetal an ordinary fela position was an ordinary
fela, if bats wings extending behind its back, a bats muzzle and bats ears
can be called ordinary.

The second contained some jelly fish like creature, with the exception of
having wicked-looking claws rather than the usual tendrils. Peering a little
closer Cadmars heart jumped in is throat as he flailed back from the tank.
Crashing into the empty tank behind him he shook his head a little as he
muttered "Surely that did not move." to himself.

Turning as he cought his breath he began to examine the third tank ...

The Final Breath - How Did We Get Here

Turning as he caught his breath he began to examine the third tank, empty 
save for the fluid inside it. Placing his hands on the tank he moved closer
towards its surface peering in hope another translucent creature was hidden
within. There a faint shadow swirling around the circumference of the tank,
and it seemed to be getting closer, pushing back a little the shadow in the
tank slowed somewhat edging forward cautiously.

Cadmar's stomach sunk to the ground as he heard the unmistakable sound of
glass crunching underfoot, soon followed by a loud cracking noise as a rock
was slammed against the base of his skull by the shadow in the tank.

...

A figure with a marbled complextion covered in a viscous fluid kneels down 
beside the prone form of Cadmar. Moving quickly to bind arms and legs, the
figure begins to rummage through the belongings in Cadmars backpack, tossing
them haphazardly around the room, until he pulls a notebook from one of the
side pouches, with the words:

...........  A Tale Of Adventure
...........       And History

Tracing a finger along the lettering the figure utters a single word
"Cad - Mar"

Needless to say what left Veran that day was not the person who entered.

"Cadmar" as it refers to itself was a creation to be the next evolution
beyond the Fezzard-Hybrids, which were always somewhat unpredictable
against both Master and enemy. The belief behind this creation was to
blend the human and drow race for all the positives and none of the
negatives. 

Strong, yet Agile. 
Intelligent yet robust.

Succeed the creators did, yet their success never saw the light of day much
like all in the Laboratory "Cadmar" was left to fester, the world he knew
was the glass tube he was made in.

Time has little value or meaning to "Cadmar" what may seem an eternity in
a glass tube does that to a person. As such what matters to him is the "Now"
there is little thought as to the ramifications of some of his actions. 

Having assumed someone elses identity "Cadmar" wandered the surrounds of 
Veran very quickly adapting to the landuage paterns of the giants of 
Kiadana-Rah. And while time has increased his undertsanding of language
this nuiance is one that had remained with him.
