Description
The old, slouched figure of a gnome is here before you. An aged, fading-grey
pigment fills the color of his wrinkly skin. He's completely bald save for a
strand or two of bright white hair sticking out in the oddest of places.
Steel-blue are all that's left of the color in his eyes that stare back at
you with no less warmth than they once held. He appears no longer the agile,
youthful gnome he once was and instead appears to have grown a rather round
midsection which slumps down a bit as he walks along, clutching an gnarled
cane. His entire body seems cloaked in golden silk, all matching the
everpresent gold ink on his arm. Age is apparent in his movement as he seems
a bit slower than most.

Well, I finally decided to start writing stuff down seeing as how I'm getting
a bit older than I used to be and my memory isnt as great as it once was, but
it isnt too bad. I figured I'd start jotting down all the important things so
I dont miss them later on. Let's see, where to start. Oh yeah, okay, here
goes.
Today I met a stranger, a stranger who I'd not known normally to be a regular
at the Inn, goes by the name of Qaledus. Well you see, this Qaledus struck me
as rather intriquing. I dont know if it was the shiny little purse inked on
his arm or the way he conducted himself but something about him I liked right
from the get-go. So I decided to chat him up a bit over some tea. Well turns
out he's got some business for me, let's say a way to earn my colors if you
will. I said I was very intersted, trying not to sound too excited, though I
was bursting with joy really. He said something along the lines of him
letting me know more details soon, so I'm twiddling my thumbs, anxious to
find out what I need to do. Guess I'll tell you that another day, Journal. As
for now, I'm off to get some rest.

It's been some time since I've graced your pages with my pen, but it's due.
I'm sitting here with Seoirse, striking up a rather one-sided conversation,
he seems the quiet type. Though I should have expected nothing more from
hired help to guard a most intriguing door. Tried bribing him, but he does
his job well and would not let me beyond. Anyhow, I've now done two jobs for
Qaledus, the first being to fetch a rather simply book and the second, a book
on flowers and herbs and a rather disgusting preserved hand. Never figured
out it's use but I suppose I shouldnt meddle as whoever's buying it might get
suspicious and have me killed. I had been most interested in seeing him
again. His mere presence makes me feel important and then there is that thing
that I wanted to speak to him about.. I, I should most definately like to ask
him that. Yes, yes. Well, my friends are shouting at me to come along, I
should probably go. I will write again to you soon, journal, I shall.

Well, I'm writing to you again this evening, journal, in hopes that I could
get a burden off my shoulder that's been weighing me down for awhile now. I
really miss Qaledus, I havent seen him in awhile now and I'm starting to
worry for him, I believe that it might be a sign that I'm not wanted, but
I'll continue with my faith in hopes that I'm wrong. I have however taken
this opporunity without work to return to my birthplace to see if I could
perhaps purchase a home for my wife and I. Sadly, they have rejected me from
the town for marrying outside my race. I had not thought them so strict. I've
once again returned to the Inn and continue my prayers in hopes that one day
soon they will be answered. I need to definately start writing in you more,
journal. I guess my time's all been taking up writing my books, but I promise
to write more. Until then, I leave you with a thanks, a thanks for being
there for me when I needed you the most. Besides, where else you going to go?
Hah!

Upon completion of my most recent job, though it got a bit confusing near the
end, I was deemed worthy to carry the mark of my Lord. I'm rather proud of
myself and hope that this will bring us closer as friends and business
partners. I must admit though that things were looking grim there for a short
bit, as I considered that a rather difficult job. Not so much so in that it
was hard to acquire, mercenaries are trustworthy enough at times, but that
lack of information made it considerably more difficult than other jobs I've
completed. However, I'm proud to say that it's not deterred my interest in
the slightest and after a short bit of rest I will be eager once more for
work. I do believe that was the best day of my little gnome life though,
finally feeling like I belong somewhere aside from just with my family at the
Inn. I think I'll take that rest now, I'll write to you again soon.
Background & Behavior
Added Tue Jul 13 16:56:47 2004 at level 47:
As I've been doing pretty much so far, I tend to be a free spirited gnome,
doing what I want pretty much when I want to do it, save a few rules of the
Inn and such. I'm normally a very nice gnome and friendly to most, save for
the Imperials. They hunted me down and slew me without reason really, that I
could see. So I take most opportunities to kill them. I'm a scribe at the Inn
and I generally love books and knowledge, reading and taking in all I can, I
like to think I know a lot. My full name's Cadothu A'kalton, which means
'Roaming Spirit' back in ancient Hillcrest lore. I guess that would explain
why I chose the religion of the Spirit, because I believe that it's more than
just me here, there's something else to life, and that it'd live on even
after my body gives up on life.
If I'd have met him sooner, I'd have definately chosen to worship Qaledus as
he seems a rather down to Thera kinda person, pardon the pun. Never too late
to start trying though, is it?
