Description

A stern-eyed stare catches your attention coming from this towering behemoth, as his gaze slowly shifts away from you to the surrounding environment, calculating and analyzing every minute detail. His prominent emerald eyes scan ever so slowly, his ears twitching slightly in unison with each audible of sound. His skin is a deep indigo, a far darker hue then most of his kin, yet his appearance and stature suggests a nobility accustomed to the majority of his race. A fresh wreath fashioned with intertwined kelp and seaweed encircles his head, as long flowing white hair flourishes outward from underneath the wreath. The being is clad in a unusual armor forged of coral from the very depths of the oceans. He carries a mighty warhammer, entirely composed of pearl, as his thick hand clentches tightly to its hilt. Upon his left hip hangs a shimmering white sword inlaiden with precious gems, as a thundering echo similar to that of the crashing of waves emanates from this exotic weapon.

Role

THE EXODUS AND THE SONG OF Caelestis Jol'rael

Added Sun Mar 28 19:18:49 2004 at level 11:
In the long, long ago, the Jarnish peoples, a clan of Storm giants, dwelt in the far uncharted
north of Thera in a cold land beside a cold sea. There they hunted seals and walruses and
fought against the great white bears that lived there. But as time passed, the giants grew too
great for that land, and the Storm Lord sent wave after wave of ice and cold out of the howling
north until even the seals and bears were forced to depart. Then the twin leaders of the giant
clan, Jol'rael and Lun'retz called upon the great Ki-Rin to disuss what to do.

In the end, agreement could not be reached and so it was decided that each leader would go
his own way, and those who would follow him would follow. Lun'retz chose to lead his brave
folk towards the setting sun. Of their history we will speak no more. Jol'rael, however, chose to
follow the seals, he and his folk departed upon the heaving back of the broad sea.

The Jol'rael clan, last of the Jarnish peoples, came to make their living in the Western Aryth. It
was now, during this time of widespread instability that the Jol'rael faith was born and the blood
of the warrior was infused into their very being, for it was only by releasing their primal tendencies
and bringing about the stability of order that they could hope to achieve prosperity in what was to
become their new home.

Our hero, the child who would become the Paladin of the Jol'rael clan was conceived in the
dawn of the Present Age just after Jol'rael and his followers had completed their Exodus out of
the Icy Northlands. His name was Caelestis Jol'rael, first son to the leader and king of their people.

Meanwhile, the Jol'rael people had just learned the art of forging coral and pearl and they were
creating deadly weapons of the sea that could lay waste to their stone wielding neighbors of the
lsland of Corte. Caelestis was one of the clans swiftest and calculating of champions and when
he had earned the loyalty of the group of his fathers followers, He led his people to victory against
a band of Sauhagin that menaced the eastern boundaries of the Jol'rael territories. However, during
this time of intense combat, when her people looked to great champions such as himself for
guidance, he suddenly turned away from his glorious destiny to oneday rule to pursue a far deadlier
and elusive menace. And it is here that the Song of Caelestis Jol'rael comes to a close, and his
end many believed was less glorious than it might have been.

INSIGHT....

Added Sun Mar 28 19:42:47 2004 at level 11:
None now live who can finish the story of Caelestis Jol'rael, but the gods themselves. Sif'um, sister
to Caelestis, herself knows quite well the fate of the young Storm who would one day rise to
become a paladin, because it was Sif'um, afterall, who interposed herself between Caelestis and
his chosen destiny ... it was Sif'um that planted the irreconcilable seed of doubt in Caelestis's mind
that would force him to undertake his quest. Suffice it to say, that in his campaign against the
Sahaugin, Caelestis had become cognizant of an evil that other mortals could not even begin to
fathom. He had come to realize that the incessant warfare in these regions had awakened
something malevolent ... but what it was exactly he could not say.

Caelestis ignored the call of his own people and set out on a great quest to track down the source
of this evil. Over the years, as he wandered the lands surrounding the Jol'rael territories, he bore
witness to the destruction of ongoing warfare and to the desperation of fallen barbarian tribes who
were now nothing more than starving weather-beaten vagabonds.
One day, just when he had begun to give up hope, he was making his way over the spine of a great
mountain range, looking for a place to shelter when he smelled roasting meat. Soon thereafter, he
came upon a small cave, where a fire burned within. He made his way tentatively through the
opening only to discover that the cavern was occupied by a figure covered in robes, who was
crouched against the corner of one wall observing him from the shadows.
He tightened the grip on his sword, expecting the worse. The hooded figure then stepped forward
into the light and unsheathed a weapon the likes of which only the dead had borne witness, a
massive double-edged blade of white metal supported by an equally massive metallic hilt all of
which inlaiden with precious jewels. His eyes widened and he wondered for an instant if he
had wandered into the wrong cave.
The hooded figure, looked him up and down, then spoke to him, "It is customary among your
people to offer hospitality to those who are in need of refuge or shelter." "You are not of my people,"
Caelestis pointed out, still holding his sword ready. The figure took a step forward and his robes
parted to reveal metallic armor that flowed over his torso and arms like a watery skin, "That much at
least is certain." The figure paused, looking him over again, his posture, his weapon, his gear. "I
thought at first that you might have been following me. Hmmm ... you are obviously a warrior of
some experience, but," and he laughed arrogantly at some private joke. He moved on, "You have
the look of someone who has been abroad for some time, years even. Are you the last of some
fallen horde, some fallen people?" Caelestis gripped his sword tightly against the accusation, "I am
no vagabond ... I am Caelestis Jol'rael of the Jarnish peoples, Son of King Jol'rael." Caelestis
looked over his massive weapon once again and he marvelled at it. The hooded figure caught his
gaze with his eyes and held it, "You have wandered these lands, seeking something, ever watchful,
but always, it eludes you. I too am in search of something. It seems we seek the same thing, you
and I. Yes, it is Stormtreader that has brought you before me. You are the first to hear its c

A Step Towards the Vision...

Added Wed Apr 14 08:47:43 2004 at level 31:
Called upon by the Eternal one Grurk, Caelestis has been called upon to aid the Spire
and watch over the Ruined City to ensure that the law holds true with respect. On his
first day of duty he tracked down the criminal Kaeros and apprehended him hidden in
the territory of the Ugruk's. Caelestis has noticed the varied of sinned taint that holds
sway over the Spire and has begun to watch over them closely, for even though they
help to maintain the order and law, they are still concieved of sin in his eyes. He does
distrust them, yet however will obey an order from one higher then himself, so to show
no disrespect to the law itself. Caelestis continues onward in search of this hidden
evil that plagues his dreams, yet still unware of its true nature or identity. He has begun
a daily pilgrimage to the clouds on high of the Jade mountains for prayer to his lord. In
doing so he continues on preaching of his vision of the enlightened society and gathering
those that one day will see to it that is maintained and prospered.
