Role
A Drop of Water
Added Sun May 24 03:55:04 2009 at level 4:
The sun rises above the northern mountains, the heated rays melting the top
most layer of powdery snow. A single droplet of this pure melted snow runs
through the rocky ground, tumbling into a narrow crevice. Leading the way for
other droplets to follow the large drop explores the depth of the crevice,
making its way to the center of the mountain. It slides down an ancient
stalactite before it lands on the forehead of a newly born babe, the child is
so freshly born that birthing fluids are still wet upon her creamy white
skin. The screaming babe named Calbaseeti calms as a trickle of cool water
runs over her head, passed her curls of downy red hair, and into a large pool
created by centuries of dripping water. The pool is known to the people from
which the child is born as the Pool of the World and on this day, the day of
her birth, she is being blessed by the water that feeds it.
Her people are known as the Altrisupendai, and one day she will train to be a
priestess to the pool.
The Beginnings of a Culture
Added Sun May 24 03:56:36 2009 at level 4:
Hundreds of years ago when a man and a woman both bred from the elves and
human sorcerers of the night met, the two formed an instant bond joined by
love, neutrality and similar kinship. Together they knew of the heartaches of
the world all too well and sought out barren ground to raise their young away
from such cruelty. They found the caverns along the northern mountains and
with exploration the purest pool of water. The ancient pool was so pure it
glowed with a magic that could only be divine. It was at this time that the
two began to worship this relic. When the couple exhaled their last breath,
their souls went to the pool to merge with its energy. Many others of the
half elven race have joined in with the tribe to find their own peace, and to
this day the souls of the Altrisupendai people go to join with the energy of
the pool.
Over time the pool became known as the Pool of the World and it was the
capstone of the religion of the Altrisupendai people. Their faith evolved to
allow only those who are freshly born to view it as well as the virgin
priestesses who tend to the water. The priestesses are the highest order of
the tribe, and only they are trained to read the pool and harvest its
energies.
The New Priestess
Added Sun May 24 03:58:04 2009 at level 4:
Five half-elven girls ranging from the ages of ten to sixteen stand awkwardly
in a line against a cold cavern wall, fidgeting in their vain attempts to
cover their nude forms. Three equally nude half-elven women walk up and down
the line inspecting the children for their health and beauty as well as
peering into their souls to view their intent as well as neutrality. The
women are the priestesses of the Pool of the World.
The youngest of the children is Calbaseeti, and she does not fidget as the
other children do. She knows that it is time to name a new priestess, and she
understands that she must look her best during the inspection. The high
priestess stops at Calbaseeti and inspects her thoroughly, before moving to
the next child. After inspecting each child the women nod to each other as if
they all know what the other is thinking. The high priestess raises her bare,
pale arm and motions for Calbaseeti to join with them, the inspection is
over.
Induction Into Priesthood
Added Sun May 24 04:00:46 2009 at level 4:
For two years Calbaseeti has diligently studied under the tutorage of the
high priestess herself. Like all novice priestesses she has learned the basic
arts of healing as well as the magics of divination and revelation. Her skin
has become hardened to the cool temperatures of the mountain, and she is
comfortable in her nude form at all times. She knows that if she were to
visit the Pool of the World clothed, she may distribute particles from her
clothing into the pool and poison its purity. Despite her diligent studies,
she is not yet ready to view the pool let alone begin to read into its magic.
First she must learn to aid the dead, allowing their souls to join the
energies of the pool.
The dead are sprinkled with minerals collected from the cavern walls around
the pool as well as salt, preservatives thought to keep the soul within the
body the until it is processed. Runes are painted on the palms and forehead
of the body prior to a silent prayer. After the body has been blessed with
prayer it is then sprinkled with water, allowing the soul inside to become
free and venture to the pool.
For years and years Calbaseeti practiced the ritual of the dead until it was
a part of her being. She also continued to study the arts of magic as well as
healing, until on her thirtieth birth day the high priestess thought it time
to allow her to view the pool.
Trained to be calm in all situations, Calbaseeti did not display her
excitement , but inside her heart thumped with delight. She had been waiting
for this day for twenty years. The high priestess carefully demonstrated the
process of taping into the energies of the pool. This process takes years of
study to learn, many more than Calbaseeti had already accomplished, for when
a priestess harvests the energies of the pool she is able to see the memories
trapped in the souls of those who have fallen. She is able to gain their
knowledge, and she is able to use this energy in the practices of divination
and revelation in order to aid the Altrisupendai . Only a priestess that is
strong of mind can properly interpret the energies from the pool, and all
others who attempt it may become mad from the process.
Curiosity of Water
Added Sun May 24 04:02:32 2009 at level 4:
Naturally the anticipation of being able to tap into the energies of the pool
was too much for Calbaseeti to restrain herself. When the other priestesses
were off tending to the people of the village, Calbaseeti snuck into the
cavern that holds the pool. Gingerly she looked over the rim of the natural
stone basin to gaze into the crystal clear water. The water glowed so
temptingly, as if it was inviting her to touch it.
Checking her surroundings to assure she was indeed alone, she reached out
with a pale, bare arm and extended her index finger towards the pool. Eyes
wide and her young heart thumping so loud that every beat was deafening she
plunged her finger into the pool.
She screamed out trying to extract her finger from the water, but it was as
if the water was grasping her so tightly she could not move. Hundreds of
years of memories came rushing into her mind, and with each memory she saw
she could feel the burdens of the world on her heart. Finally the icy grip of
the pool released her and she fell back onto the slick cavern floor.
Revelation
Added Sun May 24 04:04:05 2009 at level 4:
While the experience with the pool did not madden young Calbaseeti, it did
change her. Because she was not yet ready to see the visions within the pool,
she did not see any visions depicting the good of the world - no she only saw
hundreds of years of injustices and ugliness.
In her mind she saw the great shifts of power that causes such injustices.
She saw the ugliness caused by hoards and how the souls of so many were
trapped and lost in these toils. These images would stay with her for a
lifetime, and it would be a lifetime that she would pursue her quest of
healing the world through her love and appreciation of all souls.
Learned of the World
Added Mon May 25 06:10:28 2009 at level 23:
Through her experience with the Pool of the World she has learned a great
many memories of the places of the Thera as well as its races and cultures.
Yet due to her secluded upbringing combined with the fact that she was not
trained to gather a complete vision from the pool, she often finds herself
surprised by certain cultural norms or places.
One string of memories that she holds dear are the visions of the Lady
Rayihn. As a priestess she had not learned of the Lady, but now through her
quick experience in divination she has come to find the Lady like a kindred
spirit to herself. It is Calbaseetis most ardent wish to fall in the good
graces of the Lady of the Purple Lotus and learn from her the true nature of
healing.
Calbaseeti is also attracted to joining with the fraction known as the Nexus.
Her people instilled a great need for neutrality into her being, and as a
priestess of the tribe, she knows that the souls collected into the pool must
remain balanced in order to preserve the neutral integrity of her people as
well as optimize the energy of the pool. With each death ritual Calbaseeti
performs, she prepares a soul to either be recycled or moved into the
collective energies of the pool. As one with the Nexus, Calbaseeti will be
able to discern the needs of balance and therefore optimize the sacred relic
of her people. She believes that respect for a fallen body and preparation of
the soul within is the highest form of healing and nurturing the world as a
whole.
All Things Have Their Place
Added Wed May 27 13:38:28 2009 at level 28:
Standing on the beach of the Sea of Despair Calbaseeti watches as the
tendrils of reflected setting sun rays gleaming on the dark waters slowly
recess, welcoming the night to fall. Looking up at the dark sky, she knows
that all the stars are in perfect alignment, and she sees this as a sign that
she too is within perfect alignment. The Lady Rayihn has offered the young
priestess her blessing to continue on the mission that is so dear to
Calbaseeti. The young priestess looks to the south and sees her new adoptive
home, the Nexus Island. It seems she was so easily accepted into their fold,
and for a moment Calbaseeti wonders if all are accepted so easily or if her
acceptance was based on merit. Dismissing the thought, she begins to reflect
on how quickly she was thrust into battle. A smile plays on her lips as she
drifts to the compliment from Lord Daevryn, stroking her own vanity in her
abilities.
Calbaseetis brow furrows slightly as she hopes that such compliments will
follow from her own Lady. Quickly accepting that surely she must be worthy,
she then reflects on her first experience with bonding. During the process it
seemed as if she was using her teachings in divination to look upon the
memories of her bond mates soul. The experience was nearly unsettling for
her, as she had never looked upon the imprints of a soul that was still
within a living body. Calbaseeti has decided that bonding with another is its
own way of healing souls, one she had not expected to learn but accepts with
a loving embrace.
Awakened Lust
Added Mon Jun 22 10:40:38 2009 at level 51:
After spending her entire youth confined with only women, Calbaseeti had
never given much thought to mend and their ways. While she never
discriminated against their souls from women, she simply hadnt thought of
them as life mates. Then one day she met a dwarf that paid close attention to
her womanly charms despite him being in the midst of combat, combat that was
with none other than the guardians of the island. The dwarf and his comrades
managed to fell to the Nexus guardians and capture the key this day, but
directly afterwards the dwarf spoke to her. Nearly shocked at the
conversation, she timidly replied to the dwarf. She quickly discovered his
lustful nature as he described his fondness for her womanly charms. Strangely
enough this dwarf, a villager and quite a gruff villager at that, helped her.
She discovered that yes, she is desirable and better yet, she has desires
herself. Not only did this dwarf awaken a new calling in Calbaseeti, but he
also helped her move away from her past as a priestess of the pool. During
her time as a priestess she was taught the virtue of virginity, and she come
accustomed to holding onto her innocence.
Calbaseeti continues to toy with the dwarf, and he to her. While they will
never be a match (what half-elf wants a dwarf life mate let alone one of the
village), she sees nothing wrong in having some fun with the dwarf she
playfully calls Kaldie. He has on several occasions asked her to help him
polish his armor, she is not certain of this process, but she is certain
there is some non innocent meaning behind it.
First Love
Added Mon Jun 22 10:41:55 2009 at level 51:
After finding her new calling towards men, Calbaseeti met the most
enthusiastic wood-elf. Handsome and quick with words, she happily played the
awkward game that new loves play with Tarsil. Quickly she thought to accept
his advances and before she knew it she was kissing and holding his hand
regularly. It did displease her some that he was not a being of true
neutrality, and she calculated all of the problems they would have should she
find him to be a suitable life mate. She also has found him to be quite the
player, and she has quickly discovered that jealousy runs through her veins
like acid when provoked. Tarsil and Calbaseeti have had several spats, and
she now finds him to be overly dramatic and he carries a need to dominate
her. No, this Tarsil simply will not do for any sort of life mate. Yet, he is
a troubled soul and she will continue to aid him with healing.
An Awakening with Rayihn
Added Mon Jun 22 10:43:59 2009 at level 51:
Finally Calbaseeti was able to visit with the Lady Rayihn once more. This
meeting was so different from the first and pleasantly so. At first she
thought the Lady to be almost cold sitting upon her throne, but with this
last meeting Calbaseeti sees the Goddess is in fact warm and friendly with
her heart open. They spoke of many subjects, but what affected Calbaseeti the
most is the realization that she is holding onto her past too tightly. She
now knows that she is no longer a priestess of the pool, but she is now a
priestess to the Lady Rayihn. While much of her long held principals will not
change, she has decided that she has not been opening her heart fully to
others. She has not tried to make true connections with them, and leave
warmth on their souls. While Calbaseeti never distanced herself from those
she encountered, she never spent enough time delicately peeling away the
layers of their being to find them. So many and even herself in the past
block their essence from others, and to truly touch a person Calbaseeti
understands that she must remove these layers.
With this line of thinking, Calbaseeti sees her mission clearly, her
membership with the Nexus island is not simply with large battles for the
greater good (balance) but it is in the smaller tasks she accomplishes. She
will change the world not as a mass focus, but one soul at time as she
touches them with her own warmth. She will teach others to cherish all life,
and if they must fall another that it should be done with purpose and
respect.
Calbaseeti will teach others to open their hearts as the Lady Rayihn has
inspired her to so that she may share the wealth of love that is within her
own heart between them and heal those who carry bitterness in their core.
Confidence in Healing
Added Mon Jun 22 10:45:04 2009 at level 51:
Calbaseeti has truly come into her own when it comes to healing the body. Her
craft is strong within her, and so many around her boast of their thanks. The
half-elf finds such praise pleasing and she gladly accepts all compliments
thrown at her. Still in the back of her mind she remembers that healing of
the body is not the same as the accomplishment of healing of the soul. While
each compliment boosts her ego in healing of the body to near arrogance, she
knows that she still has much to accomplish in her mission. Healing souls and
the world as a whole she sees as the most difficult aspect of healing, and
with her inflated confidence in healing of the body she has no doubt that she
is able to heal a life force as well.
Leadership
Added Mon Jul 6 22:58:16 2009 at level 51:
Calbaseeti was announced a leader of the isle recently by process of voting
from her piers. While she voted for herself to obtain a seat, she did not
believe she would win such a contest. She did not campaign for her position,
and she believed that she would simply put her trust into her comrades rather
than direct their votes to her. She quickly accepted her title as Rhyme,
believing that she had already been leading the isle well without a title.
Yet, the burdens of leadership weigh heavily on her heart. More than ever
before she sees herself responsible for their protection and with each one
that falls it is as if a piece of her heart is broken. She finds it difficult
to use a stern and commanding voice with those of the isle, but like all
challenges she faces even this one head on. Still she tends to them like a
mother would to a child, and she would have that bond of love exhibited no
other way.
Calbaseeti and Kyaltaru Part I - First Discussions
Added Mon Jul 6 23:00:00 2009 at level 51:
When Kyaltaru first entered the isle, she was instantly drawn to him not as a
potential mate but as a soul in need. His every fiber appeared worn down and
damaged, and Calbaseeti made it a personal mission to tend to his being. Over
time she pried into his past, attempting to discover his dark secrets that
weighed so heavily on spirit. Then one day he felt the warmth of her own
heart and he began to speak to her of the great betrayal in his past. For
hours and hours until the day was new again he told her of himself, he told
her of all the hurt. She knew then that he was hers to heal.
Calbaseeti and Kyaltaru Part 2 - Budding Romance
Added Mon Jul 6 23:31:15 2009 at level 51:
Calbaseeti began spending more and more time with Kyaltaru, their
relationship growing. She desperately wanted to help him, especially the
first time he mentioned marriage. Quickly they were kissing and holding
hands, the old dance that is courtship. Calbaseeti tried with all her will to
help her loves troubled soul, but the task was a difficult one to say the
least. She discovered how much he hid behind alcohol and his rude demeanor,
and she continued to break through his hardened exterior, she knew he was
capable of love. They began to speak more and more of marriage and even
possibly children, but Calbaseeti was uncertain. She did wish to be bound to
a mate that was so troubled, yet in many respects he was the perfect choice.
Finally she told him she would give him his hand if he would find healing. He
agreed to seek out the Lady Rayihn with her so that he may be blessed with
her all powerful love and healing and find his own peace.
Yet, her plans were thwarted. Kyaltaru met with Lord Daevryn and spoke to him
of glory and pride. Convinced that his suffering gave him strength to be
great, Kyaltaru wished to no longer be healed, not completely. When
Calbaseeti came to the Lady Rayihn, her new love out not follow. Only after
some playful banter did Kyaltaru finally give into Calbaseetis wishes.
During this time Kyaltaru spoke to the Lady Rayihn, and all she could
discover of the conversation is that the Lady wished Kyaltaru to protect
Calbaseetis heart and that they had the Ladys blessing to wed. Kyaltaru had
shown so much improvement, and Calbaseeti was inclined to accept should he
formally ask...
A Lover Not a Fighter
Added Mon May 25 06:17:19 2009 at level 23:
As a lover of all persons Calbaseeti refuses to prey upon those her people
see as having a soul unless their death can serve a greater cause. A greater
purpose does not include for training or sport, and if any such beings are
killed in these actions she will perform the ritual of death on them
immediately. Beings with a soul range from human to giant and every humanoid
in between. Beings without a soul or spirit according to her people are all
creatures of the animal kingdom and beings who are half animal and half man
such as the half-lizard tribe or the half-fish creatures. Free spirits not
contained within a fresh corpse such as ghosts are also not acceptable to the
pool and therefore available for training. Constructs and those of the dead
are also not acceptable to the pool. It is still debatable if orcs, minotaurs
and felars are to be considered as worthy of the pool due to their more
unnatural beginnings.
As a lover of all persons, Calbaseeti is accepting of their values and greets
all those she comes in contact with pleasantly. While she understands that
she will never be able to please all those of the world, she believes that
showing them the love she carries for them will in some way begin to right
the injustices the saw during her experience with the pool.
