The sights along the path to greatness
Added Thu Jan 10 21:19:48 2008 at level 51:
Cezar has been striving to achieve legendary status as a follower of the Lord of Legends.
The path he has walked has been riddled with many sights and interesting events. One of these
such events happened a day that Cezar and Yevandr were raiding the Chasm. While they were returning
from the chasm a falcon flew up to Cezar and attacked him. The falcon was Sousidan, a Scion.
He attacked Cezar and fled leaving his nightwalker to fight with Cezar, and returned and attacked
Yevandr. Having just finished the nightwalker, Cezar turns on the shifter who is now in the form of
jaguar. Between the two of them the wizard is quickly dispatched with and the Scepter is kept safe
for the skull throne. Upon the death of the shifter a voice appears out of nowhere and Twist, the
Lord of Magic appears. In a fit of bloody rage the Commander lashes out at the God, who quickly disappears.
When the two villagers returned to the village, the voice of the God of Magic returns laughing and
mocking their display of force over the wizard. In Cezar's mind the village has a set of values that
are in place to uphold the sense of pride the village carries, and he'll be damned if any mage is going
to try and take advantage of these values for his own good and not suffer the consequences. Cezar
realized that Twist, being the God of Magic, would try to cast doubt into the minds of those who strive
to rid the world of his beloved magic, however, he took the appearance as something more. He saw the
appearance of Twist as a sign of his growing legend. If the God of Magic is taking an interest in
in what he does, and even willing to reveal himself, then surely the stories about him must be far
reaching.
Twist of Fate
Added Fri Dec 28 16:50:28 2007 at level 51:
After the rites Cezar had felt resentment towards the Commander for the manner in which he was over looked
for the position of Drillmaster. It seems that Fate has a sense of humor as Cezar has been told by
the Commander that the Drillmaster took his own life. Cezar understands that the Commander is choosing a new
Drillmaster and knows that he will at least be considered for the post. He is unsure of how to feel about this
prospect and how to react concerning the humiliation he feels he was dealt at the rites. It is because of what
happened at the rites that he questions the chances he will be given the nod for the post, but, that
that still doesn't quiet the question of how to react to the situation. While never being open about the
resentment he felt, he wonders if he should still harbor it. It is likely that because of his dark nature
the feelings will remain on some level, although he will behave in a manner that will not shame the village
but, also further any interests he has.
The Aftermath of the Rites
Added Sun Dec 23 22:53:52 2007 at level 51:
Cezar is very disappointed with the results of the rites. He knew that he had performed
well in the rites, yet, Yevandr had been named Commander. Cezar could foresee this
coming because Yevandr had won the battle part of the rites, although Cezar knew the
only defeats he had suffered to the svirf were at uneven odds. To a point, the real insult
came for Cezar was when Yevandr chose his Drillmaster, the svirf had completely
humiliated Cezar by dismissing him as an inferior warrior to Harol instantly in his
choosing.
This disappointment in the rites has allowed very dark emotions to fill his heart. He has
allowed himself to grow angry and spiteful, especially to the Commander of the Village.
He still has too much pride in himself and the village to be outright subordinate, however,
he is still very resentful to Yevandr for the public humiliation he was dealt.
Cezar had known he would have made an excellent leader for the village, and had also
anticipated it happening as a way to glorify his name as a wizard murderer. Now, that
those plans have not come to life, he must think of a new way to secure his legacy. The
only thing that he has going for him is his pride, which will not let him quit.
Revelation
Added Sat Dec 8 09:33:04 2007 at level 35:
It has been sometime since Cezar's induction into the village of the Battleragers. His pride for his work,
and his pride as a villager grow stronger everyday. Yet, for a long time the shame of his past had weighed him
down like a suit of full iron plate mail. Fortunately, it had always been good motivation, for he has
something to prove against magic. This motivation took a new form when Cezar realized something after
exchanging heated words with a wizard just beyond his reach in combat. The wizard tried to insult Cezar for his
disdain of magic, trying to make him feel insignificant. This of course didn't work, and in reply Cezar posed
the question of why the wizard chose magic. Cezar half expected he knew the answer having been familiar with
the allures of magic, but, found that the answer of "because I can" struck him differently than he expected.
It struck him differently because normally he would feel that sting of pride hit him and his rage grow, yet,
this time that did not happen. While his hatred for the being remain, he realized it wasn't because the wizard
could, it was because he had to. He was so deeply wrapped up in magic that it would claim his soul until the
end. The thought made him laugh out loud despite himself. The wizard was pathetic, he began to realize that
what had happened in the past was nothing to be ashamed of. The fact that he had been in the grips of magic
and had managed to escape it wasn't anything to be ashamed of. That act alone gave him power over magic, it
always had. He was once like this wizard, a slave to the power of magic. But, he had managed to defeat magic
by abstaining from it, and that was something to be proud of. This revelation has made his pride in self and
motivation to continue to murder those pathetic wizards double. He certainly is more powerful than magic.
A humbling lesson
Added Tue Dec 4 14:36:22 2007 at level 29:
Cezar has earned a hut in the village as a defender. He recently learned a lesson that was quite humbling for
him. His pride is his motivation in life, and the lesson was a lesson in village pride. A wizard asked him to
travel, to which he declined. The wizard was persistent and kept asking him to travel, to which he declined
again and again without giving reason why. He had remembered reading in the war room that surprise is the key to
success and that all warfare is based on deception. Now, he knew that this wizard didn't know him to be a villager
and so he didn't offer that information to the wizard in order to keep the element of surprise on his side.
He knew it would be wrong to lie about his allegiance to the village, but, thought not offering the information was a
clever ploy should he need to get close to the wizard later. The ploy did work and Cezar was able to get close without
the wizard getting wary and nearly took the life from him. The wizard upon escaping began to call into question Cezar's
pride, to which Cezar did not take kindly. He defended his actions with words, but, decided to reaffirm his actions
with the Drillmaster. When he explained the situation to the Drillmaster he was told that he shouldn't in anyway
disguise his place in the village, and that he should be proud of it. This was quite humbling for Cezar as he
thought he was following how he interpreted the book in the War Room. After considering it, he does understand how it is
important to take pride in being a villager, even if it means making a small sacrifice in tactical advantage.
Cezar later on spoke to two promising young applicants and spoke about the situation with the both of them, using
it as a tool to teach with.
The path to the village
Added Mon Dec 3 14:40:39 2007 at level 20:
Cezar spoke with Illieway recently and found it slightly difficult explaining his vengeful reasons
for killing magi without revealing that he was once a fledging wizard. For the time, that part of his
past is a source of shame, and to speak it aloud only stings his pride even more, especially to a villager.
For the time being he will have to try to get by with just explaining that killing wizards gives him a sense
of self and worth without going into his past.
Cezar has also noticed he has been getting some unwanted attention from those who protect the light.
He thought those kind of lightwalkers only went after the wicked of the lands. Cezar didn't think of himself
as wicked, or was he? Yes, he had murdered before, but, so have those "lightwalkers". Most people (except wizards)
would say that he is a pretty friendly man. Besides, he has murdered wizards. It's not like they are farmer's
wives and children. Is it so wicked to do try to prove you are better than something that had once
gotten the better of you?
A new life
Added Sun Dec 2 14:21:37 2007 at level 18:
Having fled his hometown village after murdering the traveling wizard, Cezar made his way down the
mountain to the large city of Galadon. He took up residence in the city that attracts people from
all over the lands and joined the warrior's guild. His time with the guild proved to
be fruitful as he saw his skill as a combatant improve drastically. It was during this time
that Cezar killed again. This time he came upon a group traveling in some ancient crypts below
the city of Arkham. Two of the adventurers were wizards, and Cezar killed one. He had wondered
what the next time would be like, he wondered if it would bring the same sense of pride and
satisfaction as it had the first time. He wasn't disappointed. In fact, the night after the
kill he slept the best he had in as long as he could remember. He normally slept poorly, he
dreamt vividly, and sometimes had nightmares which was another side effect on his mind from his
traumatic addiction to magic.
He began to think often about when his next kill would come and relish the thought.
He had heard about the Battleragers, and was told by one of their members he needed to
see a man named Tahren to learn more about this village of wizard slayers. He made the decision
that he would go see this man. Perhaps this village could be a new home for Cezar, since he
had lost the only one he had ever known.
A Life Changing Encounter
Added Thu Nov 29 17:01:29 2007 at level 15:
Months had passed since the recovery and Cezar hadn't even thought of magic in
some time. The brief moments the thought did jump into his head he scolded himself for
letting it happen. He had come to the opinion that magic was dangerous and foolish and
he compared even thinking about it to thinking about flying around in a lightning storm
with a metallic rod.
Cezar had regained the companionship of, Kootler, his best friend, and was
sharing a drink with him on a crisp autumn evening in the village tavern when a man
arrived and took a table off to one side by himself. Travelers weren't uncommon in the
mountains, and the tavern was the most likely place to find one passing through so Cezar
didn't pay much attention to the stranger. He remained at the bar fiddling with a dagger
and scratching the floor with his talon as the addiction to magic had left him very fidgety
and overcome by fits of uncontrollable twitches.
The two young men were in a friendly debate over who was better skilled at
fighting with a dagger when Cezar noticed a small crowd starting to gather over near
where the stranger had taken his seat. It appeared as if people were gathering around
trying to see something of interest so Cezar nudged his friend and pointed in that
direction, then set his cup down and walked over to see what all the fuss was about. Upon
reaching the edge of the crowd Cezar pushed his way through the murmuring and
clapping people to find the stranger in the middle of the circle appearing to be
performing.
Now for my next trick, I will create fire from nothing and bend it to my will!
the stranger announced with shouts of approval from the crowd. The stranger then rolled
the sleeves back on his expensive looking black robe with red trimming and then looked
down and muttered something barely audible, yet vaguely familiar to Cezar. Suddenly,
blue flames engulfed the man's hands all the way up to his elbows and he began to wave
his flaming arms around tossing small pillars of fire into the air with one hand and
catching them with the other. Magic!
Cezar immediately felt like he had been punched in the stomach. He had
disdained magic for what it had done to him, but, now seeing it a more powerful mix of
emotions took over. He stared at the man with outright hatred, he knew he hated magic
because it changed him so drastically, but, deep inside he also knew there was another
reason. He realized he felt these emotions because of his great pride, magic was
something that took control of him and he always disliked the idea of his failure to
control it. Now, this man was in front of him flaunting this magic as if it were nothing to
him. As if he was better than Cezar!
Feeling the fury take hold and a faint urge to defend his pride, to show that magic
was not better than him, Cezar reacted on instinct. He grabbed his dagger from his belt
and just as the man turned to face the other part of the circle he rushed the man and took
him around the torso with one arm while plunging the dagger into his ribs with the other
hand. He stabbed and stabbed again, he was wild with fury, but, he felt alive. He felt
strong and proud, he was more powerful than magic! With each stab of the dagger his
satisfaction rose as he was destroying this m
The addiction Grows

Several months have passed and Cezar still retains possession of the magic tome.
He has devoted every waking hour to the obsession of learning magic that now totally
consumes him. Where once he would spend his days playing with his friends and
learning to fight from the village elders he now spends his days in doors secluded away
from the rest of the world. The obsession has caught him so completely that he hardly
sleeps and only eats when the hunger pains grow so strong he can no longer concentrate.
His body has grown skinny and his face has grown so gaunt he has begun to resemble
one of the undead nightmares the village elders tell stories about around the campfires.
His feathers, which used to be sleek, beautiful and full of brilliant color have dulled and
the larger feather have had the tips grown white with the lack of sunlight.
Each day reveals a new secret and a new piece of knowledge for the fledging
magician. He has gained a strong control over magic and he fantasizes about being an all-
powerful wizard one day. He has reached a point in his learning where he is requiring the
use of objects, some magical, and ingredients to practice his spells. Unfortunately for
Cezar this requirement has brought to light a serious problem, he doesn't posses any of
the items he needs and has no money to buy them. After considering his conundrum he
comes to the conclusion that the only way to continue this learning would be to steal what
he needs. He knows that it is wrong, and tries to put it off for a day and see if he can't
continue to learn some other way. However, this proves to be fruitless and finally the
need takes over and things began to disappear in the village.
At first he tries to keep it simple, small things that no one would notice. Some
herbs here and some powder there, yet, each day brings new successes, which in turn
brings a need for something more. Cezar begins to grow bolder with his thefts as his
needs grow larger. He has now graduated to stealing items of value from the other
villagers. He steals a small magical amulet from the Butcher's wife. He steals a magical
dagger from the head of the village watch. He even begins to set plans to travel to the
nearby Arial city to see what he can procure there. Unfortunately for Cezar, he doesn't
get to carry out that plan because the villagers start to notice that things are missing and
begin to talk amongst themselves. Understanding that they have a thief among them they
begin to discuss the items that have gone missing and the village watch takes to
investigating the crimes.
The watch draws up a list of suspects and because of the nature of the items and
Cezar's known new addiction to magic, he is atop of the list. Cezar is so consumed with
his quest for power that he doesn't even notice that the village has begun to take action to
stop the pilfering. Finally, one day it is too late for Cezar, a contingent of the watch
arrives at Cezar's door and searches his house. They find everything that has been
reported missing and immediately takes Cezar into custody.
The arial community that Cezar lives in is small enough that most people know
each other well, as was the case with Cezar. Since most of the villagers knew Cezar all of
his life, and did not think the y

Just outside of a small arial village high in the mountains to the east of Udgaard,
two winged adolescents run down a trail that leads to a small wooded clearing just below
the tree line. The arial in the lead carries a backpack slung over his shoulder, and is
urging the other to keep up. Cezar, the one following, is having little trouble keeping up,
however, he doesn't feel motivated to keep pace with his best friend. His best friend,
Kootler, is leading them to a place the boys have often used as a secret playground since
they were young enough to venture away from the village on their own. He has a surprise
in his backpack that he wishes to show Cezar. Unfortunately for Cezar, he won't say
what it is, which is the reason for his lack of motivation to rush to the clearing.
When Kootler reaches the clearing he tucks his wings behind him and settles
himself on a large boulder that borders the trees on the far side of the clearing. Shouting
one last word of haste to Cezar he removes a large object wrapped in cloth from the
backpack. Cezar arrives just as Kootler starts to un-wrap the object and immediately
begins to question his friend about what the object is and why it is so important. With a
look of anticipated satisfaction on his face Kootler removes the last bit of cloth to reveal a
large tome covered in magical runes. Upon seeing the book Cezar ends his questioning
and releases a small gasp of wonder. Hearing this, Kootler lets the suspense build for just
a moment before beginning to explain what the item is.
Just as he sees his friend is about to get upset with the game he is playing, Kootler
ends the silence and says, "The book was given to me by my uncle. It is a magician's
book, and it is for beginners. He said that there are a bunch of spells in this book and a
whole lotta information about magic lore. There're translations an' instructions in the
margins, we jus' need to read it. Wanna try?" The boys are both intelligent as arials often
are, yet, since they live in a small village with no formal education system they have
gotten in the habit of speaking without proper grammar by running words together or
dropping the letters off the end of words.
Transfixed with awe Cezar merely nods his head and lowers himself onto the
boulder next to his friend so that he can see the book clearly. For the next several hours
the two read the book and try their hand at some of the basic spells it contains. Their
attempts at casting the spells yield nothing but failure and Kootler's attention span begins
to wane. Noticing that there are only a few more hours of light left in the day he suggests
that they head on back to the village to find something else to do. Cezar, however, is
completely consumed by the book as the desire to know magic has set its roots deep
within him. He refuses and says he would like to stay and keep reading the book, he
knows he can get the spell to work he explains. After some debating and urging Kootler
finally gives up and tells his friend not to lose the book and to return it when he is
finished and then heads up the trail back to the village.
Several more hours pass as Cezar continues to read the book and practice the
incantations without much success. With each passing minute the desir
