Description

A gray-and-white feathered arial is here, long wings and slender limbs.His beak is black, sharp and wicked-looking, as are his dark talons. He is garbed in mis-matched armours, metals and leathers twined together in a look that cries out "Adventurer". His slender form is typical of the arial, the beak slightly larger than normal, and the colours on him seem plain and dull. In fact, his armour seems mostly dull and drab, except a few small gems that puncuate certain pieces.

Battles have come and gone, blood been shed on all sides, and still
my voice rises above the clanging of steel.  These fools who think
that my voice will still before my death, I sing challenge to!
Where the fighting is fiercest, I strive to be, and in singles,
pairs, and as an army on the field of battle, I have seen
the village fight on with honor and strength!

How blessed am I to have witnessed so very much.

And still, there must be more.  My Song has not yet been sung,
nor yet written.  I will have that, my glorious epic to resound
through the ages.  I know of one more inspiration I must seek, perhaps
that is what is missing in this mixture, the inspiration of the
gods, of Lord Kastellyn, muse of the valorous poet.

There, I will go when next I awake, to find his shrine and
dedicate my voice.

Village Skjald

A place of pride indeed! To sing songs to warriors so brave,
so unfortunate as to be waging a war upon most everyone else
in Thera.  Still, their bravery astounds me, and their will
to battle inspires me.  That the subject of my songs is an
inspiration to me at least encourages me to greater deeds!

Still, there is a responsibility in this role that none of
the others has.  None of them speaks with the voice of the
history of this place, or tries to inspire the world with
their words.

No other place would I have!

History

When Chkara was younger, perhaps of the age nine or ten years,
his father spoke to him at great length between the battles he fought.
His father, Kanntr, was a villager of little renown, striving to
learn the fighting arts.  Unfortunately, he chose the wrong path - the
family talents lay in a less martial role, as Chkara learned early.

At any rate, having moved the family to Galadon, bustling city that it is,
his father set off to help the village of BattleRagers in their war.
Returning time after time, wounded and bloodied, his father spoke
at length of the history of the village, the great deeds that were
performed therein.


It was on one of these rests between battles that Kanntr spoke with
a young, impressionable Chkara.  "Continue my battle, my son, fight on even after
I am gone, give me your word on that boy."

And with that oath to his father, the first steps of Chkara's future were lain.

Beginnings

Book learning is all well and good, if all you want to do is read.  Poems and
songs and stories and tales, that is what this arial grew up on.  There is a
flame that burns within him though, for the life sung about in those songs.

Of all the tales that inspired this arial the most, those of the village, the
Battleragers, the haters of magic, were the most inspiring.  Their beliefs, that
the power of magic is tainted, belonging to the gods alone, are strong, convincing.

Of all the places that Chkara would go, the village calls out the most to his
eager young soul.
