Description
Before you is a hirsute minotaur, with hair a black sheen that would make
an angus proud. His horns have been carefully scrubbed to a glistening white
and a prominent brow-ridge partially obscures eyes reflecting curiosity if
not intellect. His muzzle has the look of black velvet, and a hint
of teeth suggest they are a bold white matching his carefully tended horns.
He is slightly shorter than other minotaurs you have seen, though he looks
as though he is generally hale and robust. You also see

With a song in his heart

In his youth, Crid was sheltered from much of the barbarism associated with
life as a young minotaur; his grandmother forgave him the death he caused her
daughter in her birth, and raised him in a life of fine clothes, good food, and culture.
Sheltered as he was, he grew fond of all the arts, but most especially vocal and instrumental
music, and despite the difficulties this might present to a young minotaur, he seeks
to become a renowned minstrel.
Although there is a shortage of people willing to instruct a minotaur in the craft
of a bard, his fearless determination caused him to leave the confines of Seantryn Modan
to surround himself with the performers at the Inn of the Eternal Star.
First public performance

The Inn was not full, but Crid performed his "Ballad to Ellen" and "Challen's Fall and Redemption"
to a small crowd at the Inn. To his surprise, Captain Neltouda was present, and personally
invited the young minotaur to come visit The Maiden, perhaps to join its crew.
This completely took Crid by surprise, for he had not realized that any god or goddess
was an active patron of the arts.
He have to get a better instrument.
The stowaway

Since my meeting with the Captain, I have been spending a great deal of time
out at sea, away from distractions, that I might contemplate my conversation
with Captain Neltouda.
My life at sea has not been easy. The ocean gives no quarter, and the
comforts I had known in Seantryn Modan have little place for one exploring
the water's horizon. My heart swells in song, but the sound of my lute
is drowned by the shrill chorus of the seagulls' cries and the cold wind.
Many times I have longed for the warmth of a fire or the soft touch of a
a woman, but then I hear the ocean calling me, and once again I am drawn
out to the great blue desert that claims me as its own.
Out here, alone, it does not matter if no one can understand the simplest
of my sentences. When I feel the immensity of the waves rolling under
or around me, I recognize the value of our fleeting mortal lives and our
grandiose sense of importance. Out on the sea, no one cares how
much gold is stored away in the city, and all the titles and
inherited lands mean nothing to the vast unmastered waters that threaten
to take away all possessions and pretensions to which I have clung.
Out at sea, with a storm ripping the sails to shreds, where all common
sense screams with the winds to head to port, my spirit feels closest to
the Captain. And after the storm, when the sky is clear and I can use
the sun and stars to find my way back to the Inn, I return to land renewed,
prepared to share my adventures beside the Tale Telling fire to those
who will listen.
Stories or history

A few months ago while I was tending bar I met a woman who sought refuge
within the Eternal Star. I brought her a few drinks, and in short order
we settled down into a conversation that was interrupted by a rapacious
human who sought to destroy all mages. I quickly called the bouncers and
they managed to throw him out, and then I cautioned her to put up a few
protective spells, as she had the look of an invoker about her.
She gave me a wan smile, and she pulled back her hood to reveal the infernal
tattoo which had lead her to losing her ability to cast spells.
Thus was her story:
In days gone by she had been a respected invoker, and at the pinnacle of her
guild she established a working relationship with the Empire, although she
had too friends among the less nefarious sort. She was approached by a priest
of the Empire to journey through the Inferno, and Alexandria joined up on
these forays into the depths of depravity. The journey was long and fraught
with all the hazards of any long trip, but at the trip's end she did not
seek forgiveness for her sins. She embraced the evil she had committed
an unrepentant mage, she invited the mark of some dark lord upon her skin,
and then emerged from her journey unscathed physically. Her spiritual trek
had left its scars on her ability to utilize magic, which in turn brought her
to the Eternal Star to tell her tale.
I have recently been approached to explore the Inferno. Though I know the place
is perilous, it is my hope that through such adventure I might grow closer
to my own goddess, whose presence I have not felt for some time now. I
also want to experience the history I have sung about rather than living
it vicariously in the songs and stories of others.
