Description
The male before you looks mostly human, with small hints of his half-elven
heritage. His eyes are hazel, with a slight almond-shape to them. His ears
do not come to a full point, as a high-elf's might, but would never fool a
person who looked closely enough into assuming they were the ears of a human.
His face is scruffy, however. Not a full beard or mustache, but far more hair
than most any normal elf would have in that area.
Physically, he's slight-of-frame when compared to most humans, with a lithe,
toned look. Not overly muscular compared to other adventurers, but hardly
what one might call weak.

All right, so the Blademaster took me aside last week and told me that
I needed to "see someone" about my anger issues. I thought I kept it
inside pretty well, but apparently he noticed and wanted to make sure
nobody else did.
Great, so I went to a minor acolyte of the Dark Lords who supposedly
specializes in "matters of the heart and mind." There was no way I was
going to "share my feelings" with him or tell him my tale. I told him
so. Told him I was only there because I had to be.
He told me that was fine, if I wouldn't speak to him, I should speak to
myself. I asked him what the hell that meant, and he told me to begin a
journal. Not for him (or anyone else) to read, but a place for me to let
my feelings loose, to get them out of my system.
Whatever. Sounds like a horrible idea. If I put down my darkest thoughts
and true opinions in here, I'm practically begging for one of the Shadow
Sect to find it and use it to blackmail me. Well, "Honor to Serve" and
all that garbage, I guess. If anyone DOES find it, I'll know the acolyte
bastard tipped them off, and I'll gut him before I go down.
Right then. Journal entry number one. They wonder why I'm angry. If they
shared my circumstances, they'd be more than angry. Probably insane with
rage. Or maybe not. Maybe I'm just an angst-ridden overly emotional half
breed asshole who thinks his problems are bigger than they really are.
This is stupid. Journals. Feelings. Worthless. I've got training to do.
Journal Entry 2

Acolyte wasn't happy to hear that my first journal entry was one paragraph
about how stupid journals were. Threatened to tell the War Master that he
feels my issues might make me unfit for Elite status. Bastard. Fine.
My story begins in a secluded village that was peaceful blah blah blah blah
nobody CARES.
Augh. Fine. We'll start with the obvious. I'm a half-breed. Not good enough
for those hoity-toity high elves, but not normal enough for the breeders.
Humans. That's what elves call them when they think the humans can't hear.
Stupid. As if elves don't breed, too.
Anyway - my heritage is probably the main root of my anger. Not just that I
am half-elven. Hell, "half" elven is probably not even close to the truth.
Maybe three quarters elven. Or maybe only one tenth. My family tree has so
many fruity branches that I doubt I'll ever know. But what I've been told,
by people I believe, is enough.
Apparently one of my ancestors - ages back, I don't how many, was actually
the Emperor of Thera. Human, with a penchant for having his way with the
freshly-conquered females. One of those females was an elf, and bore a girl
child as a product of this...union.
Shortly after that girl's birth, an escape attempt was made. The prisoners
were being broken free by members of the Fortress in some sort of combined
military action, joining with non-Fortress members of the paladin guild and
some others. The girl's mother was killed in the attempt. Not by Imperials.
She'd had her spirit broken, you see. She saw the escape attempt as some
sort of invasion, and resisted. One of the rescuers saw a "dark aura about
her" and she was gutted. The babe was taken from her already-cooling arms
and "delivered to safety."
Bah. Villagers, Outlanders, and Fortress at the Palace gates. I'll write
more later.
Journal Entry 3

Well, the acolyte can tell the War Master anything he wants, as the War
Master is dead and the acolyte knows that he will be too, if he crosses
me.
Still, this journal business hasn't been all bad. I'm finding that when
I DO allow my anger to show, especially to enemies, I come across as a
petulant child rather than someone brimming with strength. Guess what that
makes me? More angry, gold coin for you.
This journal is helping me to...bottle that anger. Use it when in combat,
use it to strike blows of savage strength. Need to hold it in check, save
it, when in conversation. Does no good there, at any rate.
Speaking of War Masters. I should be the next. The Emperor has expressed
his pride in me and my service. He even slipped and actually *thanked* me
for something I gave him, in front of the Commander of the Village, during
his talks with her.
Those talks are interesting, by the way. We're basically at peace with the
Village right now. And another interesting thing about Emperor Gedunthos'
policies - we're allowed (encouraged) to strike enemies within "protected"
cities now, in most cases. His interpretation of Imperial Law is such that
if we do not hold, for instance, the Orb of the Fortress, then any of the
Fortress are in violation of Law 2. As such, under Law 4, we are allowed
to strike them.
Back to the War Master slot. As I said, I should be the next. I'm clearly
the most competent among the Elites, and no threat to the Emperor. But, I
may get passed over for someone like Taris or Rahzeez or Ergoth, if the
right circumstances arise.
Know what that will make me, if that happens?
