Description

Unusual figure is before you, just a bit taller than a usual gnome. His green and gray colored beard looks really huge and covers most of his body, it's also well groomed. But that's the only big thing about this duergar, he's very thin and doesn't seem to have any muscles at all. He barely grips his weapon what is definitely too big for him. But the weirdest thing about this little duergar is that he looks at everything and everybody around him from above as if he's a strong giant who can be feared. And his big evil grin only makes his apperance even funnier.

Fog of illusions.

Darbrek's early years were really horrible and each evening he tried to
forget everything what has happened with him during that day because
else he'd simply become manic long time ago. But anyway all these painful
daily sufferings eventually made him crazy, though in pretty unusual way.

One evening he simply "understood" that all the pain what all inhabitants
of Thera should have been experiencing all together for all those many
and really long years, all this pain he recieved by himself alone. He
simply couldn't believe that anyone in Thera can be so evil and angry to
spend so much time making someone suffer without any big goal or purpose.
That's why he also "decided" that his slavers were helping him, he simply
had to survive all these years to become stronger, holy and an Immortal!
Those who were torturing him every damned day wanted to show Darbrek and
(using him as an example) all other mortals that all Imortals aren't
anything special, they are just usual mortals who suffered as much as
possible so other inhabitants of Thera wouldn't need to suffer as much.

Of course Darbrek this way "became" not an evil and weak God, he's true
God of the light who understands that with new "unlimited strength" he
also gained new responsibilities: he has to help other people to become
an Immortals too by torturing and murdering them as often as possible.
Also like all other Gods he simply cannot die at a feet of any mortal.
Of course he also cannot become friends, ever group or even speak with
any usual mortal for too long - there should be always big distance
between usual inhabitants of Thera and him or those like him. Later he
also joined the guild what can make him even stronger considering the
style of this lone maniac's life, because his "plans" have no limits!
And any methods what can be useful in this "holy" mission will be used.

First huge disappointment.

Darbrek have read the missive from Navur that the warrant about him is
issued. He wasn't nervous or disappointed, he simply bought a lot of
different potions which won't be sold to a criminal and prepared to
live the rest of his life as a criminal. But he still thought he is an
immortal and thus never expected to die anytime soon or ever at all.

But soon after that he fought imperial necromancer Lultrin again.
Darbrek killed this magician few times already and didn't even expect
anything bad from this battle... but when Lultrin was already dying on
the floor of Coral Head scratching himself to dead... Darbrek died in
a battle against a sahaugian. It was first time when he died at all,
and Lultrin himself died few hours later too... But Darbrek clearly
understood that he might be very strong mortal, but he's still just a
usual mortal. It was the first huge disappointment in his life, and it
changed many of his views on his own life. That day he understood that
he is just yet another evil anti-paladin who's goal isn't to help
anyone, his only goal is to enjoy pain and deaths of everybody around.

Some time ago Darbrek pledged to Scions of Eternal Night in attempt
to help other Scions not to embarrasse Lord Morius by their weakness
even more. But shaman Ululrek who died right after teleporting from
Darbrek and fed his precious unholy spear was made Chancellor soon
after that. It doesn't look like this duergar is embarrassing the
the Lord and he even tried to give Darbrek tasks to be able to become
a Scion too. But Darbrek doesn't know what to do about it, he hunted
all Scions he can fight with zeal and it's not surprise they all
really hate him right now. So Darbrek doesn't see much point to do
any tasks at all because obviously other Scions including Ululrek
will never forget or forgive their weakness, and Lord Morius is happy
to see them all as a Scions. And also even though Darbrek doesn't
think he's an Immortal anymore, he still believes in his own strength.

Lack of strength.

There can different points of views on what does it mean to be strong.
But Darbrek no longer thinks that he's an Immortal, he understands
that he's just one of many, who needs to survive and become stronger to
simply live as long as possible. Previously he never attempted to
break morale of those he murders, he always gave them hope to live
longer and become stronger too. Nowdays he doesn't mind to sometimes
attempt to break morale of those important enemies who can be dangerous
for his goals in any way. He's especially careful with those who try
to speak with him often in attempt to gain his trust, Darbrek knows
that they are doing it only to betray him whenever he loses concentration.

He has no allies at all and Darbrek only has a bit of hopes for Ululrek,
who is now the Chancellor of Eternal Night. The last of his three tasks
was completed not long time ago most probably by murdering Sriyser,
though it's always hard to tell what kind of hut a villager has when
they die so fast. Ccul'gra and many demons he bargains with might be the
only allies Darbrek will ever have. But he has very bad feeling every
moment of his life: he knows he will die soon, forever and in shame...
The feeling of self confidence and strength is leaving him very fast.

The feeling of despair ends.

As Darbrek was speaking with Ululerk he finally understood who are
these people called Scions: weak people, a slaves of their wide mouths
and long tongues. And it seems Morius chooses weakest inhabitants of
Thera as his own followers and Scions on purpose: they are slaves of
their own illusions and sins, and thus are easy controled. Their wide
mouths and long tongues never gave them any results: they never
convinced anyone worthy to serve Morius or join Scions. Their symbol
of power is always taken away and even a Chancellors are unable to 
retrieve it alone. None is ever scared of them at all.

Darbrek doesn't want to become yet another useless and weak Scion,
he always valued physical and mental strength above everything else.
He withdrew his pledge to Scions, there will be never any Eternal
Night, only a lot of useless words from a people who think too much
about themselves. He gained all fourty tittles alone and never allied
with anyone, it becomes harder and harder every day. But it will only
make his will even stronger as he believes. The feeling of despair ends.
