Description

The humanoid before you stands at just over six feet in height. He has a narrow, slender build that lacks any significant muscle definition or fat. His arms in particular are somewhat lacking in prowess. His chest is scant and lacks any true depth as many humans would have. It is clear from all of this and his distinct pointy ears that he is something of a half-breed of elven and human blood. He has a gaunt uncomfortable looking face, shaped sharply and curved distinctly around the jawline and cheekbones. His trifling mouth forms a natural slight grin as the left side of his lips seem to tilt upwards naturally. His nose is standard and appears to blend into the features around it, particularly his sharp set of eyes. His forehead protrudes much moreso than most, and this gives his eyes something of a semi-circle look to them, overcome by the dense bone above. His slender black eyebrows form something of a crescent above each eye and highlight already disturbing buggy black eyeballs. His hair is akin to a porcupine and seems to spike out in random directions naturally, although it seems to favor tilting to the right in minor fashion. It is very thin, wispy hair, moving with the slightest of breeze. He is dressed lightly, mostly in dark colors. He carries several weapons on his person and despite his slender appearance seems capable in the martial arts. Looking closer it can be noted...

Role

Early Life

Deldrach, born to an elven mother and human father. Some would call his
conception an act of passion and lust. His mother, viewed it in shame. His
father, viewed it as a source of pride. His father was a swindler who had
seduced his fair elven mother and their union resulted in him.

At first, the pair tried to coexist. But as the boy aged and became more than
a babe, the mother was troubled by his inherent behaviors. He would do things
that would trouble any elf, and of course she blamed this on the influence of
his father.

Realizing her error, she swiftly removed the child back home to Darsylon
where she would raise him with his grand parents and mold him into something
his father could never become.

His childhood in Darsylon are memories that Deldrach loathes and tries to
banish from his existence. He recalls being scolded daily and preached upon.
Especially by his grandfather whom he came to hate with a deep passion.

Eventually, as his behaviors did not improve they sent him off to learn as a
young boy in a monastery, believing the last salvation the boy had from a
life of anger and hatred could only be found in faith.

Faith he found, but not as they expected. It was around this time that
Deldrach began to hear it. He began to hear the dark wind howl. At first it
was but a whisper, for many months always present but just barely
discernible. It took his attention from matters at hand often, and led to him
being scolded. Yet, he could not turn aside it's whispers.

He was unrelenting in his hatred of the elves there. No matter what
punishments were imposed he would not succumb to their will of him nor change
what he believed to be his innate personality. Such "stubbornness" in a child
as they called it was unheard of, but one of the monks a strict paladin of
the jaguar goddess assured the young boy he would save him.

The Dark Wind

The years went on and the dark wind never subsided. It led to sleepless
nights, listening, trying to discern words that did not exist in the wind. It
grew louder as the years passed as well, at times howling and other times
whispering. He did not understand it.

Studying the faiths of Thera in this gods forsaken hovel did make the
adolescent Deldrach smile always. He found it endlessly amusing these people
believed they openly studied faith here. Their inability to accept the dark
wind around him was enough to make him scoff openly. At the time, a lich
ruled Thera with an iron fist and yet they continued their illusions about
the strength of the light and putting faith in it.

He began to question his sanity at one point, wondering if the dark wind was
all in his mind. Perhaps it was he thought, but as time went on he began to
dissuade himself of this. He began to think of the wind itself.

He was not unlike the wind, a presence ever felt when it wished. He believed
himself a powerful mind, though most in adolescence do. The wind is
unforgiving when it wishes to be. The wind is honest and plain, it does not
dabble in half-truths and foolish illusions like the elves did. He began to
admire this, he began to felt the dark wind was something destined to flow
through him.

He even began to speak to his teachers of the wind. Not the dark winds of
course, but wind itself. The elven priests were encouraged by this and
praised him for understanding the values of honesty and truth. They babbled
on about the gods of light and truth before mentioning other gods. One of
these was called the Glacial Lord, Deormdel.

Teachings of the Glacial Lord

Embracing the teachings of the glacial lord, the growing boy finally had
something to focus his energies upon. Soon, through study of his peers and
instructors he began to channel divine energy as they did. But not the same.
He lacked the ability to mend others around him, only himself. The boys aura
also became very telling as he began to channel these energies and in time he
was banished from the monastery out of fear of what he would do with the
teachings it provided.
An exile, rejected from his home and teachers he began to wander the lands.
He learned all he could of the Glacial Lord during this time. Studying his
precepts with zeal, he began to seek out the greatest of his followers. At
first the scribed names of heroes past were his focus but in time he came to
learn of several who yet live of great prominence, baring his mark.

He spent years in silent observation of these individuals but the one he
admired most was Golthazar, War Master of the empire. She fought with a
ferocity and honesty he had not seen. He came to admire this duergar, but did
not wish to spoil his plain observation with contact.

The teachings of Deormdel led him to the guildmasters of Thera, seeking to
learn more and channel his energies for his own purposes. They obliged the
young aspirant and lent him their wisdom.

The teachings of a shaman suited him, he would not waste his energies on
others as the elves had done, but instead empower himself to whatever ends he
wished. The Dark wind now howled greater than ever, it always had he realized
but only now could he truly draw upon it's power and it's message.

He believes the dark wind to be an external force that has guided him to Lord
Deormdel's teachings. He does not worship the dark winds but believes them to
be a teacher of truth and interprets it's messages. The wind is honest he
believes above all other things and he aspires to emulate the wind in his
life.

This could all be a mental illness on his part, he is not foolish enough to
dismiss it. Yet, he believes that whether in his mind or indeed real (as he
believes) it is a guiding force of honesty none the less and he trusts it.

The Empire

The oath was a clear path to young Deldrach. No other faction in Thera
displayed the brutal honest of the empire. It was plain in it's laws and
goals and despite whoever ruled over it, it remained a constant force. It
could be a whisper of diplomacy, or a hurricane of might if you angered it.
It indeed emulated the wind in it's approach.

With the great lich dead, he saw opportunity to help reform this empire in
Deormdel's teachings. His studies of the divine sect have led him to believe
this to be an essential role of a priest in the empire. To strengthen it
through faith, this he intends to do.

He has a good deal of respect for the blade sect and it's honest and powerful
methods. The Black sect and Shadow sect's methods are plain for the empire to
see even if he finds them less than desirable personally, so he can
appreciate that much of them.

He knows little of the new Emperor save that he follows imperial lord
Destuvius. Those of order generally value honesty, even if they are of of the
shadow sect. Time will tell.

In the end, he wishes mold the empire through his faith and bring forth what
it is truly capable of on every level of it's existence.

Personality

Deldrach is a stern and hateful individual who makes it very evident to any
around him. He is a stubborn and dislike-able person who views the world in
the simplest of terms.

He commends those who are true to their ideals, regardless of what they are
and greatly appreciates honesty... and loathes deception. He believes that
one must be true to themselves in all cases even if, as is the case of the
empire's enemies, it will lead to their demise. In fact, he may even admire
those willing to die for what they believe to be true.

He fights fiercely with vigor and determination believing even a defeat will
lead him closer to his own ultimate victory. He looks at defeats as
inevitable in the grand scheme and will not hold grudges against those he
falls to but instead congratulate them sincerely and ensure them of their
inevitable demise through his faith in the glacier.

He makes plain his intent to others at all times, even if it is
disadvantageous or offensive. If they cannot handle this blunt honesty than
truly he wants no part of them.

He is an aspiring individual, wanting to shape the divine sect and empire in
his beliefs. He will do whatever is required for him to see his goals come
into reality.

Spiritual Progression

It's been many years since i've spoken to Lord Deormdel, yet I know he
watches me. I've seen life come and fade into dust in my own ranks as well as
that of my enemies. I've come to realize this is a natural way of things.
Defeats and victories must be cherished just the same.

I've found that with age, I am becoming more somber and cold. I do not view
this as a negative but I am conscious to not let it hinder my ambition. There
is still so much more to be done. I feel as if I have not spread the word of
the Glacial Lord enough. Something I will seek remedy in the future.

I've tried to lead by example, the dark winds whispering to me... Yet, there
are times I've let my black heart get the better of me perhaps... Still, this
is who I am.. This is a subject I will require counsel on from the Glacial
Lord himself.

Still, I feel as if I have a great deal more understanding of the faith. The
maran captain Ilyenei follows the glacial lord as well. Though, they lack the
ability to interpret the dark winds. Still, seeing the faith applied to... a
lesser being has been beneficial.

I will continue to lead by example and begin more actively spreading the
teachings of the dark wind.

Imperial Matters

I am but inches from the throne. I can feel it. Darvoderis was a weak
emperor, his efforts left the empire weakened and lacking the respect it is
entitled to.

The man, i consider a friend. The emperor I consider a failure. I will learn
from his mistakes. The vote is underway, I have come to expect myself or
Golthazar will be crowned in the days to come. While I certainly hope I gain
the crown, seeing another of the Glacier rule the empire would be pleasing.

I've decided I will vote for Caecillius. The reasoning is simple, Rodacir and
Golthazar both were party to overthrowing him. How can I trust such
individuals on my council? In particular Rodacir, who as well as being
untrustworthy, is always fairly incompetent.

The divine sect has shown signs of growth and I am pleased with the young
members of the sect. I will be sure to ensure either myself, or the next High
Priest uses their role properly and enforces the preaching of faith in the
empire.
