Description

You look upon a little girl. In all respects she appears to be a 6-7 year old human child. Her features are plump and rounded giving her a cheeky look. Red hair that sorely needs to be washed has been tied loosely behind her head with a tattered red ribbon. Her skin is smooth and flawless - almost porcelain in both appearance and it's whiteness. Her mouth has a pouted look that gives what some might describe as an almost grumpy looking face. Something about her feels almost unreal though. Her cloudy hazel eyes. Deep within them lurks an intelligence that glares out with more wisdom than should be present in that of a child. They peer and pierce. Her focus shows not just an uncanny savvyness for a child but belies something more sinister and delirious underneath. Within a backpack, slung across her shoulders, several small things appear to be poking and wriggling against the canvas slowly - almost like a bag of snakes. An occasional, high pitched moan can be heard coming from them. You begin to suspect there is something deeply wrong here.

Role

Delilah Davenport - The Demented Child

Added Fri May 17 19:29:14 2013 at level 6:
Delilah is daughter to Lissandre and Theodarian Davenport. With biomancy she
has had her bodily development halted. This has left her in a frail state
where he mind has developed while the rest of her has hung in limbo.
Abandoned early in life and burdened by her curse: she has developed into a
twisted, selfish but confused woman. Her personality is that of a child and
she still tries to embrace 'playing' as the main focus of her life.

Struggling through the confusion she is currently dealing with feeling
abandoned. Her mother used her magic to send Delilah far away from her father
as he tried to attack. Since discovering her gift for reanimation, Delilah
has decided to dabble in making her own family. She misses her mother dearly
and to some extent her father but refuses to return home lest she face
serious retribution. She still doesn't understand why her father got so angry
but she blames him for her mother sending her so far away.

Delilah speaks with Theodarian

Added Thu Jun 6 12:19:51 2013 at level 31:
Creeping through the hills, Delilah closed on her target. Cloaked in her
magic she approached Theodarian close enough to speak.
'I'm invistible! You can't see me.'

The man stopped. His strong shoulders fell a little as he readied his hands
and turned slowly. His eyes surveyed the brush but passed straight over
Delilah. Reflexively, his hand moved toward his belt as his lips moved.
"You sure are."

'I'm hidden. And you'll never see me.' She tested this by moving closer and
wiggling her bum at him. Theo just kept circling the area slowly with his
hand on his weapon. He thought he was in danger! Her blatant flaunt went
unnoticed and she felt a certain power in it. Delilah liked feeling safe
from her father. Had she not already stashed her backpack she might have been
tempted to show her brothers and sisters their father's face. They'd be safe
now and they had to learn. She had to teach the little kiddies. She was
smarter. She was better. She'd tricked him. He had no idea.
"You can't hide forever, Delilah."

Her jaw dropped and she froze in her place. 'How did you know?!?!' she gasped

"Fathers know these things. You need to come back to me."
'Daddy, you scared me. I don't want to. You'll do bad things.' she whimpered
"Bring back those babies. What you've done isn't right. I know my little girl
is still in you somewhere, we can sort this out. Please." His hands hadn't
moved from his weapons although he hadn't unsheathed them it made her
uncomfortable.
Part of Delilah flinched. She loved him. For all he'd threatened and however
much he'd made mummy cry, she really missed him. It was so good just to be
close. She teetered emotionally but she knew she couldn't give in. She was
smarter. She was better. But how had he known?
'I'm going now daddy. Don't try to find me. I...'
She paused. Then turning herself around she fled the scene.

Delilah misses her mother, and continues to search for Lissandre

Added Thu Jun 6 12:21:25 2013 at level 31:
Delilah grabbed her backpack and opened it up. There amongst the blankets
she'd tried poorly to pad it with the little fetus' swarmed and writhed. The
smaller ones would simply move their heads up and down. Their eyes were black
orbs that made them look like grey lizards. Without developed didgets, their
hands were just stumps. Others were larger and had fully formed fingers.
Reflexively, they seemed to grasp at their air as they writhed. Mouths
without vocal cords opened and closed in a horrific imitation of life. Their
eyes, misted grey much like Delilah's, would roll around in blind agony
speaking of the torment their souls likely suffered. To anyone this was
obviously a pained, undead existence. To Delilah, they were just babies like
any other. Defenseless and helpless she should have thrown them away long
ago. Yet she loved them with all her heart. They were her family and friends.

Picking up one of the boys, she gently cradled it in her hands and twisted
the umbilical cord around her fingers as she spoke to herself.
'We have to find mummy. She can make daddy stop. And help me look after you.
And give us hugs. Mummy is really magic! She can do anything.'
The fetus in her hands was twisting its head around. Without fully formed
bones, it's large deformed head was threatening to tear it's neck. Delilah
huffed and pulled the fetus upright. She was responsible for them all. To
teach them, to clothe them, to feed them. Every day she pushed scraps into
their mouths in the belief it kept them alive. Her attempts at childcare were
so pathetic and misguided that real children would have joined the dead
within days. Yet to her she was a mother figure in her own right. The Eldest
Sister. Matron to her own little clan of forever-tiny kiddies. She just
missed her mother so much.

In the darkness of the night, on the ground, next to the squirming fetus of
what was to become a boy, Delilah closed her eyes and cried herself to sleep.

Delilah finally finds Lissandre - Re-uniting with her Mother

Added Sat Jun 8 12:27:48 2013 at level 39:
There was tension in the air. Uncertainty. It had a grip on Delilah's heart
so tight her eyes were welling up. Through the teary blur she could just
about make out her mother Lissandre. One step forward. Two steps. She made it
to three before her mother rushed the gap and took her up in her arms.
Delilah sobbed with joy and buried her face into her robes. She inhaled her
mothers scent and let it fill her nose and mouth. She was safe here. She'd
found her mummy!
'I missed you, so so so much!'
"How are you my little girl, my how you've... grown! Look at you."
Lissandre groomed her daughters hair, and checked her scalp.
'Grown? Don't be silly mummy, I'm still the cutest tiniest girl ever! I
needed you!'
"I'm here now. I'm here, child."
Mother and daughter conversed and caught up. Delilah lapped up the attention
and drew strength from it. As her emotions became more stable she started to
notice something. Her mother was nervous. Not excited, not even happy:
Nervous. Her mother was glaring at her dollies. Did they scare her? Did she
not know they were their friends? Delilah made one dance up in it's flailing
flip-flop style. Lissandre took a hurried step backwards.
'Look mummy! Friends! I made lots, so I can live with them away from the
city. Where daddy can't find me!'
The gaunt, tired look on Lissandre's face seemed to sink deeper with her
daughter's words. Something wasn't right with the whole situation. Delilah
had dreamed this moment would be different. There should have been smiles!
Mummy should have been swinging her around, playing games. Where was the
happy dancing and celebrations? They were together again! It was as if
something had changed. Delilah thought about bringing out her backpack but
hesitated. Now wasn't the time. Her mummy was clearly not well. That was it.
She was sick and just needed time to get better. Delilah had to think fast.
This was a city, it could be dangerous. She had to be a big girl for just a
while longer.
'Mummy, I.... I'm gonna go play. I'm gonna go have fun and be your ickle
wickle girl. I love you, I love you jelly tots.'
"I love you too."
Confused and somewhat defeated Delilah retreated with her army. The air
seemed still around her and she realised the tension still hadn't gone. Why
wasn't this working? What's wrong? What's happening?! Delilah waited until
she was out of earshot. She took a deep breath, mustering dark powers. Wisps
of energy seemed to seep from the ground in purple and black motes until they
coalesced infront of her mouth and with one, piercing unholy shout...
EEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEHHHH! Her undead exploded around her in a shower of gore
and bone. With a huff, she set her sights on the road ahead and begin
skipping along the cobblestones.

Delilah meets Voralia - Part 1

Added Fri Jun 14 12:37:40 2013 at level 42:
Looking upon the statue, Delilah was awestruck. It was the perfect likeness
of Voralia. Standing tall in the dark shrine it was so iconic that she
noticed it actually did inspire light to flood the chamber. So arrogant was
it's virtuosity that it physically glowed. Everything about her had an air of
perfection - she was like a paragon of idealism itself. A single hand was up
in a position of salutation while her nose was held equally high in disdain.
At least, from Delilah's height that's what it looked like. A second hand
held her shield wide of her hilt so as to appear open yet threatening. Then
it blinked and looked down. Delilah jumped back and yelped.

'Oh, sorry for staring. I thought you were a statue.'
Voralia chuckled, then hesitated. "I've been wanting to meet you for a while Delilah."
'Okay, but there better be cake.'

True to her word, Voralia produced the bribe from behind her shrine. A small
tray of sweet rolls and buttered breads. Delilah had been starving and rarely
had fine sweet treats like this. She began munching through them then
realised she'd forgotten to feed her followers. She glanced at the nearest
dolly, then threw it a buttered roll. It hit the dead giant's cheek, and slid
slowly down it's stoic, lifeless features. Delilah had forgotten to command
them to move.

"Your mother and father are worried about you girl. They want to know what
you're doing. I said I would speak on their behalf."
That made Delilah stop and wipe her chin. Her pudgey, child like cheeks
rotated a few times and then she swallowed to clear them. She didn't like
mention of her father. Even worse that her mother and father had been
colluding. She considered this as she eyed the Lady Voralia.

'I'm happy. I've got my dollies and my toys and friends. I just want mummy to
get better. Is she okay?'
Voralia seemed confused "Is she ill, Delilah? What's wrong with her?"
Delilah herself didn't know. Something was wrong with her mummy but she
didn't understand the situation at all. The more she thought about it, the
more she felt like an outsider to the family already. She didn't run away to
get rejected! She was hiding to protect the family. To protect the kiddies.
The way Voralia spoke it's as if her parents had forgotten. She didn't like
this. There would have to be serious consequences. No one would make her feel
odd.

Delilah meets Voralia - Part 2

Added Fri Jun 14 12:38:33 2013 at level 42:
"We're all worried about you Delilah, you've got to grow up at some point.
These 'dollies' aren't real friends. Look at them, they're lifeless. And
before you are too we want to help you."
That was enough to send Delilah over the edge. First she insults her
favourite toys then she suggests she's going to die?! She would be lovely and
cute forever. That was why mummy had done this to her. She wasn't this way
for nothing! She was made to be happy forever! Wasn't she?

'I'm done with my cake. Let's play a game.' Delilah grinned. She raised her
finger and uttered the word 'DIE' with the familiar, magical undertones. The
reality of the command shook Voralia's body but she recovered quickly and
asserted herself.
"We all die, Delilah. Someday even I will pass, and become an empty shell.
Such is the way. You need to accept that."
NO! she thought. NO NO NO NO NO! Again, she pointed her finger and tried her
magic - 'DIE!' - but Voralia shrugged it off again and yelled for the guards.
The beating of feet at the shrine's door, and Delilah knew it was time to go.
She grabbed the last and dashed away with her zombies lumbering in tow. They
ran for the city limits just as the alarm bells started to go. The Tribunal
had been summoned.

Sometime after, in the safety of a secret nook in the forest, she deemed it
enough distance to stop. Her legs ached and her body felt tired. Really
tired. This was the kind of exhaustion that she had been feeling lately and
it wasn't natural. Was she getting old despite not growing up? Was whatever
her mother did more a curse than a blessing? What was happening to her?

Confusion wracked her brain. She kept trying to think but developed a
headache. Curling herself around her backpack, full of writhing undead
fetus', she cried and rocked in the gloom of the night.

Summary - Delilah's role so far.

Added Fri Jun 14 12:44:36 2013 at level 42:
Delilah considered her mother changing her physically to be forever young a
blessing, as if she would be immortal. She didn't realise that she was only
going to APPEAR forever young. This has made her bitter. She feels like her
mother and father are plotting against her, with Voralia being the advocate.
She is making attempts to turn her mother and father against each other but
it depends entirely on actually seeing them. As she develops and grows in
power - she is starting to understand more that her body is ageing even if it
doesn't do so in appearance. She wants to start researching the magic she
needs in order to maintain herself forever and will likely seek a Becoming
soon. She is also interested in making as much trouble as possible for her
amusement in the meantime - anything to forget the things that Voralia has
said to her.
