Description
A slightly stooped yet still tall avian figure stands before
you. His feathers are a dull brown color that only seem to
have faded more as he has aged. The golden color that once
shined gold with the sunlight is now only seen in the flecks
of golden color that shine randomly like a prism. His eyes
are the same golden color and shine with a youth that is
denied by his advanced age. His feathers hang oddly and as
you look at him closely, you realize that this because the
skin beneath them is now heavily wrinkled. He wears a set
of light leather clothing under his armor and the belt he
has around his waist is filled with pouches that provide a
blended smell of flowers, forests, and herbs. His lithe
form seems to stil be made of strong muscle, but muscles
that are now entirely affected by his older age. He still
seems prepared to move at a moment's notice, his drooping
wings prepared to push him away as soon as they can.
Role
The Frigid Cold of the Mountains
Added Wed Mar 24 09:11:00 2021 at level 19:
The frigid winds expel cold blasts of snow and air over the
top of the mountains. I was birthed into this world, barely
a feather on my body yet I am sure my skin was blue and cold
when I was born, yet now I head out into it and feel more
at home than I ever felt possible. The reason is that the
cold gives you strength. It teaches you to survive and to
learn to live with the things around you. If you get stuck
in a mountain blizzard, you can cover yourself with snow
and while you will not escape the cold, you can at least be
out of the bitter winds and help survive better. Under the
snow is often plants and animals you can capture for food.
You can melt the snow with even slight fire or just suck on
a ball of snow for water. This hazardous place which some
might call a wasteland provides.
The Mountains of Thar-Eris
Added Wed Mar 24 09:11:21 2021 at level 19:
As I grew older, I spent most of my time within the frigid
mountains of my homeland rather than within the city that
my people call home. The place of the more civilized arial
people just felt encompasing and enclosed to me. I found
that deep within the snow covered peaks of my land, I could
hear more, see more, smell and taste more. It was like the
world itself called out to me and guided me to where I was
and needed to be. It took me years to realize that what I
heard and felt was truly the world of Thar-Eris, the natural
world of chaos and life.
After my realiziations that the stone walls and pavement of
my kin's city kept them from feeling the truth of the natural
land, I came to the understanding that this place would never
be for me. I needed to spend my time in nature and feeling
the powers of life within me. I realized that with some
coaxing, I could help the natural life of the world grow and
flourish. I could feel the sources of life around me with a
much stronger affinity than even others I knew lived within
nature. I heard of those called rangers who could feel the
ways of life almost as deeply as a druid and cast spells of
pure nature and realized then that was my calling.
The Light and Life's Chaotic Ways
Added Wed Mar 24 09:11:36 2021 at level 19:
As I wandered the world searching for my place and others
like me, I began to realize another thing that pushed me away
from the ways of the city of my kin. Arials are known to be
a flighty and easily distracted people, yet my kin for all
intents and purposes inside their city were rather orderly in
their pursuits. I understood that what they sought was a good
and easy life for others and I felt that was commendable, yet
the concern I ultimately had was that if life was provided in
such an easy way, there was no challenge or learning from what
was in the natural world to make you stronger. I realized
soon that my life was full of the need to challenge the status
quo and determine how to best make my own life better by being
dedicated to making the lives of other's better through that
challenge and that learning which would ensue. If I could open
the eyes of others to what I have seen, to how strong I had
become, and to how you could live in the natural world like I
found you could in the snow covered peaks of my homeland, then
I was doing something for the betterment of others and that was
what mattered most.
A Place to Call Home, A Place for Prayer and Faith
Added Wed Mar 24 09:11:54 2021 at level 19:
In my travels, I heard of many places and people and many deities
that others might put their faith in. While I realized over time
that I had been born with the gifts of vivimancy in my ability to
sense and affect the life around me, I was unsure of where I would
settle and find people like myself who would work towards a better
world together. I heard of those like the Fortress of Light and
knew I could fit there, but the constraints of their systems and
rules made me think that perhaps it would not work after all. I
heard of those called the Wardens of Thar-Eris and settled that
this was where I most likely would be.
I heard of a deity who ruled over the paths of Vivimancy and was
a goddess of the Light and one who understood nature. Her name
was Padwei and it became my feeling that this might also be my
calling upon someone who I could place my faith in and learn from.
I decided I would search her out, even if it took me into a barren
desert wasteland so different from the cold of my own home and
see if there was a path for me here.
The Tree, The Changing State of Thar-Eris, and the Vow
Added Mon Apr 5 14:24:33 2021 at level 51:
Delkinen spent years working towards and finally becoming a Warden of
the Tree as he had sought. During this time, he heard of many things
that made him concerned, especially those where the Tree was filled
with those who sought combat and destruction of the enemies within
civilization but little upon the growth of Thar-Eris. Even those who
walked a balanced path in nature still spoke more often of destruction
and wore their badges of so-called crime proudly rather than did what
they could to teach.
Delkinen decided quickly that he would not follow these footsteps. He
heard of the former Sunwarden and how she would as often work alongside
those of the Reavers and attack the Spire even at the possible death of
the Light and the innocents around civilization who could be taught a
different and safer path. As the Tree was without a Sunwarden, Delkinen
determined that he would step forward and try to show he was prepared to
lead. He endeavored to set up a time to have the Tree hear stories of
the past and be able to learn from them.
A great change happened in Thar-Eris that caused Delkinen to look deeply
into himself and search for a path forward. The Goddess Padwei, one who
saw the need for natural life had disappeared from the realms. Delkinen
might not have been very religious in his own right in the past, but he
still felt that there was much he could learn and sought to look for a
Ancient or God to learn from. Even though the Tree might look askance
at his choice, Delkinen sought out the Lady Azorinne and determined that
perhaps this was the path he sought. He was given the chance to speak
to her over a short time and felt even better about such ideals after
the conversation, even to the point of making a vow never to willingly
become a criminal even if it meant never stepping foot inside the Spire.
Windsinger
Added Tue May 18 15:10:21 2021 at level 51:
For many years, Delkinen spent time learning from the Goddess
Azorinne as well as being Sunwarden of the Tree. During this
time, he also spent much time trying to determine the full
depth of Thar-Eris as he could understand Her as best as he
could and do what he could to help Her return. He found ways
that the teachings of the Golden Host fit with the his further
knowledge of Thar-Eris, ideals such showing mercy by teaching
and aiding rather than destroying and also learning of the
need to judge situations and how to respond to them. One such
judgment showed exactly how it was important to look at every
situation and determine what is best for both those of the
Tree and Thar-Eris.
Mojabosombo had gathered the strange bracers, those made of
the very lifeblood of Thar-Eris from the body of Williad, the
War Master. He held onto them for a short time and came to
Xaran and Delkinen for advice on what to do. The decree of
the Ancients stated that they should be destroyed, but if
they were destroyed, they could also be reforged anew and the
War Master could recover the next pair made. The option was
there that they could be given to someone who might hold them
against the War Master. Ultimately, after judging the time
and question, it was the suggestion of Delkinen to destroy
them as the decree stated and trust to Thar-Eris.
The winds sung around Delkinen and he knew in his heart that
he had made the right choice in destroying the strange
bracers with Xaran and the giant. Delkinen realized at that
point also that the wind had always guided him more than he
had understood before. He decided that as he spent so much
time listening to the wind and learning from it as the true
voice of Thar-Eris, he would take up the name "Windsinger"
as one who spoke to the voices of Thar-Eris.
The Solar Eclipse with a Blazing Aureole
Added Mon Aug 9 10:27:05 2021 at level 51:
After many years of learning from the Golden Host and
learning of himself, Delkinen was able to grow enough
in his faith and understanding that his Lady Azorinne
blessed him with her mark. As he marveled at the mark
of the eclipse upon his wrist, the little lady told
him that the next step was to determine which of the
parts of the faith, Judgment or Mercy or Justice, was
the most important to him and which he would work most
towards moving forward. She spoke to him of being
specified in the one even while embodying all. After
much consideration and discussion with others who have
known him for some time, Delkinen agreed that what he
had done for most of his life was to judge others by
their actions and words and learn from them not only
about them but about themselves. The words of the
Jurat, in this case, made the most sense to him. He
resolved that he would seek out the little lady soon
to tell her his decision.
The Pain of a Mistake
Added Tue Nov 2 21:09:22 2021 at level 51:
For one who has spent such a long time avoiding the unthinkable
and being the shining example of the Light to all he could, the
unthinkable came even for Delkinen Windsinger. In preparation
for combat with Volzmer and Sadeha, a blade was placed in a
grave mistake into the body of a boy, an innocent, and one of
the Light. As the deed happened, the heart of Delkinen broke
into pieces and tears shone in his eyes. Yet, he went into
battle with the Empire and fell, a quick Justice in itself
in response to his mistaken actions.
A life which had seemed to be continuously shorter and shorter
was suddenly longer, a penance in itself for one who had began
to prepare for the death which had approached. Perhaps time
was a response to the death of an innocent, time to find his
penance for his actions. As he finally woke later, Delkinen
went to his lady's mountain where the Jurat, his teacher, had
appeared to speak to Dohri and himself. Laying himself bare
to them both, those of the same faith as Delkinen himself, he
recounted the tale of the boy's death and his part in it.
Being charged and judged to help the mother of the young boy
ease her grief, he went into Prosimy to find her and admit his
wrong doing. Finding out that the boy's name was Yarrow and
his mother had already lost four other children, Delkinen did
as he did in his Lady's mountain and laid himself bare, being
open to admit his plight and promise his aid in action and
service. She implored Delkinen to protect the village of
Prosimy and the peace there from those who would break it.
Delkinen stated he would do so always and would have done so
anyway, but even that did not console his heart and his spirit.
While he knew he did what he could, he knew even further that
he would have to continue because he would never feel as he
once did... instead knowing that he would always remember this
harsh lesson and always hold himself more responsible and more
of need to make sure this never happened again.
