Description
This individual stands on the short side, not even breaking five and a half
feet tall on a good day. However, well-toned muscle adds some definition to
his lithe, slender build suggesting somewhat more athleticism than one
otherwise may expect from someone of such small stature.
There is a lack of facial hair that works to go along with his somewhat
pointed ears and round facial structure with a few smile wrinkles near his
eyes, giving this specimen innocent looking features in spite of his dusky
complexion betraying mixed dark-elven heritage. His face features prominent
cheekbones, a small button nose, large dark blue eyes, and a mop of straight
dark blond hair that contrasts with his dark complexion. Some of the strands
of this hair are white, suggesting his youth is behind him.
While his face and neck are clear and free of blemishes, this is not true for
the rest of his flesh. When his clothing does not quite cover him up,
countless scars cover the entirety of the rest of his visible skin. Most of
these are from deliberate damage done with cutting implements, though there
are signs of other forms of torture healed over the years.
Role
Early Beginnings and the Escape

Deyvin was never meant to be a free man, or have the knowledge that anything
outside his initially small world existed. His father, Maeglin, was not a fan
of the matriarchy society of the drow. But make no mistake; he was just as
wicked as any other dark-elf. He just was one that spent most of his time in
his own hidden lab away from society, performing various magical experiments
of differing cruelty levels. And some of them required living subjects.
Maeglin had used his golems and his magical skill to kidnap living
individuals to experiment on. Of course, while Maeglin was mostly interested
in his studies and experiments, he had other appetites. And thus those
appetites sometimes bore offspring and who was Maeglin to waste good fresh
test subjects? Most of these ill-begotten individuals never survived long,
but a pair did: Deyvin and Saevel. These two proved to be more resilient than
most Maeglin had encountered and eventually, while still test subjects, they
were allowed some freedom in the lab as assistants.
And since birth they were prisoners of such a small terrifying world. But the
half-brothers had each other, so they relied on each other for emotional
support and survival. In time, the eldest of the pair, Saevel, convinced
their captor that he could be more use going out on errands. While that meant
leaving Deyvin alone for periods of the time, it gave Saevel a better
understanding of the outside world and an opportunity to start hatching a
plan to escape.
Over the years, Saevel gathered hidden supplies and contacts and even a
reputation of being an efficient killer for hire. And it was all so he could
find a way to rescue Deyvin. It was not a day that Deyvin will forget. After
over two decades of a harsh life, the lab was in flames, all the research
destroyed and Maeglin was left standing with nothing to show for all of his
cruelties. The pair spared him for reasons even Deyvin doesn't understand.
Instead, they ran as far away as possible and found some level of safe haven
in the city of Galadon.
The Canary

For the first time ever, Deyvin saw the outside world. For his entire life he
wanted nothing more to experience the outside world, and it was vaster than
he can ever imagine! Saevel had made sure that they had a place to stay in
Galadon, at least for a short while, as his underworld contacts gave them
some protection and respect. And Saevel made sure Deyvin understood that from
now on, he could be anything he wanted.
Now Saevel wasn't a wicked man, at least when compared to his father, but
he was a pragmatic one, and was willing to kill for his survival - provided
the contracts were not too unsavory. A balanced soul all things told, Deyvin,
on the other hand was a brighter more light hearted soul. He loved Saevel,
and will always be thankful, but he could not fall into the same sort of
profession. And they both bore some deep scars and trauma that likely could
not be healed by more cruelty.
And so the young Deyvin found he enjoyed singing and making terrible jokes
and just generally being a silly buffoon. That isn't to say he is stupid,
far from it, but just often times hide his trauma with a bright, goofy
persona. Besides, this same act could also bring some warmth to others.
Despite the dismal path, there is a spark of life and without realizing it he
had decided to bring that spark to others. Of course, he also had a strong
desire to explore the entire world and experience everything that one could
in life. But his love for his brother kept him in Galadon.
That is until Saevel told Deyvin he had to work on a long term contract. He
may be gone for a while and to not look for him. This left the fool alone and
it didn't take him long to decide to just start wandering and ignoring
Saevel; he was going to find his stupid brother one way or another. Of
course, with such a chaotic, bright soul, this bard will be distracted by
many things. Time to flit around and stretch those wings!
