BACKGROUND:
Dhurin, son of Dori, was born and raised in Akan. His father was a
guardsman and instilled Dhurin with a deep sense of duty and honesty.
As he grew up Dhurin apprenticed as a blacksmith and shortly after
coming of age he earned his journeyman status. While enjoying the hot,
hard smith work, Dhurin wanted to help his village in a more direct
fashion. He had been deeply marked by the many raids the village had
suffered in his youth losing friends and family to the cruel
raiders. They usually consisted of the drow, horrendous fire giants and
human mages dealing in dark magic. At least the guards kept the accursed
duergar and orcs at bay.
Dhurin decided to leave the village to seek out the enemy. He wanted to
'do his piece' as his father would have put it. Having heard of the
ancient Fortress of the Light blessed by the divine lords Shokai and
Aarn, he approached its inhabitants, offering to serve as a squire.
DHURIN'S CODE:
The following was the parting words of his father long ago when
Dhurin left the village. Dhurin has taken the code to heart.
Seek out the wicked and bring them to justice, or at least let them feel
they cannot roam unopposed.
Never lie. It's your honor that's at stake. If pressed, keep your
tongue, but don't resort to trickery.
Don't steal and murder. It's your duty to fight the wicked, not
become like them. If someone got a thing you like, ask them for it,
trade with them, but never kill for gold or armor.
Don't abandon your comrades. Only retreat the field of battle if your
friends are safe or if you cannot aid them at all.
Show a brace face to the wicked. Don't die in vain, but fight with your
head and heart that others might be inspired by your efforts.
