Description
Dark hair and dark eyes seem to almost vanish amongst this Duergar's almost
pitch-black skin. His hair is unkempt, a poorly cut mess that looks like it
has never seen a brush in its life. Heavy bags below his deep set eyes reveal
an enduring tiredness, one that has etched into his face like a permanent
scar. Despite all this, his mouth is quick to break into a smile. An almost
mischievous half-smile, which never quite seems to reach his eyes.
His frame is slight for a Duergar and he borders on the shorter side. Even
with this smaller build, the weapons and armor suggest that this he is no
stranger to combat, nor any less dangerous.
Role
TL/DR Summary
Added Sun Nov 3 01:37:03 2019 at level 25:
This is a quick overview of Dhuzok's history and motivators. Over the
coming days I'll flesh out a more detailed story to follow.
History:
Dhuzok was training to be apart of an elite military unit. Many of
the Duergar in the unit got there through wealth, politics and influence.
Dhuzok (who came from a poor family) made it on talent alone.
During training the more affluent cadets would use their wealth to purchase
magical supplements to enhance their fighting ability. Still they could not
best Dhuzok, who loved to rub it in their face.
Whilst on a training exercise, Dhuzok's canteen is swapped out for one
containing teleportation potion. Dhuzok drinks it and is immediately
teleported away. Feeling lost and betrayed, he seeks out a new family.
Motivators:
1. Dhuzok seeks to belong, initially to his regiment and now to the
Village. It is as much a reason to join the Village as his hatred of magic
and the primary reason why he chose to become a Defender.
2. He is a near pathological liar: he loves to pull pranks, exaggerate
and would lie to his own mother if it helped him get what he wanted.
3. He genuinely enjoys combat and killing, and will look for excuses
(or make them up) to get into a fight.
Lord Dergrumi
Added Sat Nov 9 22:36:11 2019 at level 30:
"Who tha hells does he think he is? Dhuzok Dreadblade" Dergrumi
practically spits the name, "Yer know he just made tha' name up, right?
Ain't nah Duergar under tha' entire Dark with a name like tha'.
Especially nah from tha' gutters they dragged 'em from"
"Wha' yer gonna do boss, can't be lettin' some slave show yer up."
"Shut it unless yer wanna get yer throat cut too" growls Dergrumi
"Don't yer worry 'bout 'em, ah got tha' family teh sort me out".
Reaching into his robes, Dergrumi pulls out a series of vials. "These
don't come cheap, but yer can be bettin' we ain't goin' be see no
more o' this... "Deadslave" once ah done with 'em."
Laughing loudly, Lord Dergrumi's lackeys join in as the chorus of cackles
echo down the cavern.
Magic
Added Sat Nov 9 22:40:19 2019 at level 30:
A mixture of cheers and boos echoed around the arena as Dhuzok stepped in.
The cheers came from his boys: the underdogs, slaves as the royalty liked to
call them. Those who had fought and proven their way into the Elite Guard. To
Dhuzok they were everything, they'd trained, fought and bleed together. He
would die for them. He would also fill their beds with whitesteel shavings
later that night, but such pranks were expected in the barracks.
Raising his favoured daggers, Dhuzok nods briefly towards his opponent: Lord
Dergrumi. In a flash Dergrumi is upon him, heavy axes swinging wildly. Never
before had he moved so fast and it took all of Dhuzok's natural talent to
evade them, never able to return a blow.
On and on they fought, confidence slowly returning Dhuzok as he began to
realise that whilst his opponent was faster, he still fought exactly as he
always had.
There, his favourite combo: a low sweeping swipe, followed by a wild overhead
swing. Dhuzok steps in and slams his blade into the Lord's thigh, punching
deep into the armour. Dergrumi releases out a roar of pain, as blood pumps
out of the wound at an unnatural pace.
"Magics! Ah shoulda ya known yer dirty cheatin' royal rat!" curses
Dhuzok, "Even still, look where it got ya, yer Lordliship, squealin' like
a stuck pig." Laughing loudly, Dhuzok turns and strolls out of the arena.
Betrayal
Added Sat Nov 9 22:44:46 2019 at level 30:
Damn it was hot on the surface. The hells would want to live up here,
especially in a desert like this. Wiping his brow of sweat with his forearm,
Dhuzok reaches down for his canteen with the other. As he unscrews it he
looks around and notices Dergrumi and his cohort of ass kissers watching him
intently.
"Stuck up royal bastard" mutters Dhuzok as he raises the canteen to his
lips.
A sudden lurch throws him off balance and he catches himself on a nearby
tree. Wait, a tree? We're in a bloody desert. Looking around Dhuzok is met by
the unfamiliar tranquil shade of the Violet Woods.
"Wha' the, where tha' bloody hells am I?"
Realisation suddenly dawns on him and he glances down at the canteen. Taking
a quick sniff he scents the sickly sweet smell of magic.
"Ah'm gonna kill tha' royal bastard."
Scented thoughts
Added Fri Dec 20 17:31:42 2019 at level 51:
The hell is going on, everytime I kill someone they keep coming back to
haunt me as a bloody ghost. I hate ghosts. Almost takes the fun out of
killing them in the first place.
This Village be a funny bunch of buggers too, some are alright, but most
can't seem to take a joke! And boy do they hate magic, I mean, I don't
like it much, reckon you've gotta be some special kind of weakling to use
it but I wouldn't say I hate it. Not like ghosts, and snakes, I hate both
those bastards.
And now the Gods have gone and put me in charge. Well I won't complain,
they've given me permission to go beat the rest of the Village into shape,
which sounds like a whole lotta fun if you ask me. Best part is at the end I
get to beat them all up at the Rites again!
Speaking of Gods, that Nalasul lady seems like a lot of fun too, dangerous,
but that's often the best kind of fun. I reckon I'll check out what all
this fuss over by the Dragon Sea is, maybe go disturb a few things...
Right then, back to business. Wait, god damn it!
"Oi! Which one o' yer buggers used tha' last o' tha' wipin'
paper!"
