Description

The diminuitive man before you stands stooped and looks weary. His head is covered in matted hair hair of a dark color, although the dark color could just be from dirt. Donatien's face is largely obscured by locks of hair flopping in front of it. He is clothed in tattered robes and skins primarily brown and green in Donatien appears poorly armed with only a knife and staff which appear to be more for utility than combat.

Donatien knew of the origins of many of the races of Thera. How the duergar evolved from the
dwarves, the drow and orcs from the elves and other changes made over time. Sometimes he dreamed
he had come from another race but not a humanoid one. Donatien had vivid dreams of crawling out
from brackish water onto the land for the first time. He could remember growing legs and clumsily
chasing down bugs and frogs. He could remember returning to the depths and his legs turning to
flippers, and becoming a cunning hunter feared by all but the mightiest of beasts lurking in the depths.
He would thrill as his teeth sunk into the elongated neck of what would become his latest meal, then he
would wake and find himself the pathetic stooped little man he was.

Donatien was born the son of a bread merchant in the large city of Galadon. His mother baked bread
that his father would try to sell. However, it was not very good bread, so there was never a shop or
anything like that. His father would walk the streets hawking his poor product to those who could not
afford anything better some days, would end up throwing away hardening bread on others, or found
himself accosted and his goods taken from time to time as well.

Needless to say, Donatiens life in Galadon was one of squalor. Some days his father would drag him
along to try to make him sell bread as well. On these days Donatien would try to slip off and throw his
bread in the river, watching the fish come to eat it and, if particularly lucky would see something rise
from deeper in the river to eat those fish.

As donation grew older, he realized he preferred his sleeping world to his waking one. He did not know
the source of his dreams, but did know he felt alive when he dreamed and a shell when he woke. He
knew he had nothing in Galadon, so he decided to see if there was a way to replace his life with his
dreams.

Donatien found his boyhood dream of becoming a sea serpent much easier than
he had expected.  He found being an eel much more fulfilling than selling
bread, but began to wonder if there was more to life than eating and killing
(and being eaten and being killed.)  He found his savage existence in the
seas satisfying, but started feeling a longing to be savage out of the water
as well.  He began to detest his ties to Galadon more and more to the point
he wanted to change his home to the forest and wished to see Galadon and all
who lived there dead and eaten. 

Donatien encountered other savages who wished to destroy civilization as
well.  He sought to find a place among them.  He was tasked with looking at
more trees.  As Donatien continued to evolve, he learned to become feral as
well and used this form to look at trees, and sometimes scratch them and piss
on them as well.  By doing this he would learn to be wild as well as savage.

Sojourn

In his quest to gain a branch amongst the outlanders of Thar Eris, Donatien
learned more of the wilds of Thera and those who lived in them.He learned
of its beasts and those that hunted them both in harmony with Thar-Eris and
against.  He learned of those sentient creatures living in the remote reaches
of Thar-Eris amongst terrains both remote but inviting or hostile enough to
keep others out.  He learned of their ways and values. 

During his sojourn, Donatiens eyes began to open to the realization that
there was more to life than just hunting and eating, although these still
occupied a place of prominence.He learned of establishing a harmony in
which he took what he needed, but did not take all that he could in order to
allow the wilds to replenish themselves so they might sustain those who
depended on them into the future.

When he finally gained a branch, Donatien was much more aware of what he
sought to bring to the tree than when he had first sought Thar-Eris and it
was more than just death and destruction.  However, his initial impression of
the rest of the tree is that most of its members are too passive and want to
just sit in the woods with great numbers and wait to see if any prey comes to
them versus seeking their enemies where they leave.  Donatien decided to make
an effort to hunt his prey where it lives to show he is a superior hunter and
not just a scavenger that will feed on the carrion left by others.
