Chapter 1
Added Fri Mar 9 12:21:25 2012 at level 1:
The day broke, dawn creeping through the mountains a grand curtain of light
casting its brilliant glow amongst the shadows surrounding the squad. They
moved with purpose through the rough terrain, the crisd air frosting from
their lips as they traveled across the scree, heading for the hidden passage
way into Udgaard. It was the squire Dracovius Blackthorn's first real mission
and he steeled himself against his nerves. They were to bring some much needed
supplies to underground resistance, and a few of their number would stay within
the city to bolster the resistances numbers. The young knight shifted his pack
on his shoulder, the weight of the supplies a discomfort, the crisp cold air
far distant from the water salty scents of his home near the Aryth Ocean. He
knew this mission was important to the resitance but muttered his misgivings to
himself never the less. As the dark shadow of the city grew closer, the captain
dropped back passing words of encouragement to his soldiers, stopping with
Dracovius to give the boy a few words of wisdom. As the Captain leaned over and
whispered a few words of encourgagement, the relative silence of the dawn was
broken by woody thrum. Dracovius wondered briefly at the sounds, as more and more
filled the air around him, the Captain raised his hand in alarm, about to unleash
a cry, which died strangled in his throat by a black quarreled bolt. His eyes
filled with surprise as he dropped to his knees, his hand clasped to his neck as
too much of his lifes blood trickled through his fingers. Dracovius dropped his
pack and pulled forth his claymore, already moving, eyes searching for a target.
His battle training kicked in, and he scooped up a fallen tower shield, using it to
ward of the bolts sailing towards him, more than three quarters of the squad were
down, dead or critical. His eyes narrowed, as he finally saw their assailants
cloaked figures rising from the mountain scree where they had been amply camoflaged.
As they moved in, firing off the last of their bolts, putting down the dying and
wounded, and encircling Dracovius, he charged, seeking to break their lines, smashing
his sword through one, then two of his opponents, sending the tower shield sailing
into a third. His body filled with adrenalin, his nerves dispatched by the instinct
to fight or die. As he moved onto the fourth, seeing a gap, an opportunity to escape
he hurled himself into the cloaked assailant too late feeling the bite of steel, his
world filled with darkness.
Chapter 2
Added Fri Mar 9 12:30:01 2012 at level 1:
*CLUNK*, *CLUNK*, *CLUNK* over and over, seemingly becoming louder with each repition,
the giant slowly opened his eyes, to complete darkness, *CLUNK*, *CLUNK*, *CLUNK* the
volume of the sound matching the throbbing pain emanating from the back of his head.
'Wafmer' he mumbled through parched and cracked lips, even in his daze he could sense
the warmth of the tiny figure next to him, 'Ssssh' a delicate feminine voice whispered
as something was pressed to his lips, he tried to swallow the briney stale water, it
tasted like the ambrosia of the gods, filling him with a little resolve. 'Where am I?'
he tried to sit up, but the warm hand pressed down on his chest, again she whispered
'You are in the slave mines, your a slave now'. He groaned once more before collapsing
into sleep.
So it was that he spent the next five years of his life, working in the mines
day after day in the near pitch black, under the watchful and cruel eyes of the slave
masters. Each day he grew stronger with the heavy work in the mines, his back became a
spider web of lash strokes, each time his anger showed, or he snatched a whip from a slaver
they beat him almost to death. Each time, he buried his pride and his spirit deep within
taking lash after lash, beating after beating, deep inside forming a fiery burning core
of resiliance. Until one day, as he trudged through the semi-flooded undertunnels, he
heard the sounds of a distrubance ahead, Allessiandra, the elven girl that had first spoke
with him, that had treated him with kindness, and helped him first regain his strengthen,
was pinned on the ground, the slavers were laughing and joking as they each took their turn.
She was beaten and bruised, years in the tunnels had not done her justice anyway, but now
she was a mangled ruin, her eyes were puff a red her once clean features, smashed and broken
her lips bleeding, she couldnt even scream any more. Dracovius hurled himself forward,
swinging his chains and fists, choking and smashing as he went feeling himself filled with a
divine and holy purpose as he crushed the last of their skulls with his bare hands. He knelt
down next to the torn and tortured friend, and through all her pain and defilement her eyes
shone with recognition. She tried to whisper his name once more, he could see it, even now
she would forgive them.
He scooped her up into his arms her broken elven form as nothing of a burden, heading out. Whether
through blind chance, or divine intervention they made it out of the mines without encountering any
slavers. By chance it seemed Dracovius recognised some of the terrain from all those years before.
Remembering the shrine of an elder god, he headed there in the desperate hope that something could
be done for Allessiandra. When he arrived, the keepers of the Shrine looked up shocked, in truth he
was covered in grime, filth and viscera and his righteous burden fared no better. He dropped to his

Chapter 3
Added Fri Mar 9 12:35:06 2012 at level 1:
For five long years, the giant said nothing he wandered the lands a silent witness to the evils
of the lands. His heart and faith in the light all but broken, each day he would remember the
smile of Allessiandra, her forgiveness of her attackers her happiness and the years of oppression
they had suffered within the mines. He had known true friendship, he had known the light and he
had watched it snuffed out by evil men. The resiliance within was all but broken, the fire turned
to cold fury at the darkness in the lands. Mighty champions of the light there may be, but evil
still walked at every step, lurked in every shadow, mocked all those of the light. Dracovius
Blackthorn the silent wanderer they called him. As he ventured he began to turn away from the ideals
of forgiveness, to once more make a stand, he began to seek out the evil of the lands and to turn
on those wicked beings. He took up once more a sword and shield, striding forth, he heard tales of
a goddess of light, one not cowtowed with forgiveness a guiding, shining light of resiliance that
screamed NO in the face of evil. His hopes soared, his fury knew a new path, a new voice, he would
seek to serve this Goddess, not as simply a knight but as a Holy Knight, as a Righteous guardian of
Spirit, Mind and Body. He set out in search of this goddess, determined to honor her way in memory of
Allessiandra.
Summary
Added Fri May 4 05:16:51 2012 at level 46:
Dracovius is quiet and contemplative, he prefers his actions to speak louder than his words.
He has found a place within the fortress where he feels the other Maran share a similar view of evil to his own.
He holds the paladins code dear and close and would only attack within the cities in extreme circumstances.
His relationship with Allessiandra formed a deep love for the Elven race, he is not aware of it, but it is likely one of the factors in finding reasonance with the lady of Purity
The battles he has fought and his time in the mines have given him a burning desire to smite evil, particularly Orcs.
This has also lead him to hate the idea of Slavery and inparticular the nature of the Imperial Order.
His adherence to the Paladin code, means that he will not strike a neutral traveller unless it strikes him first or is in the company of Evil.
The House of Blackthorn
Added Sat May 12 09:25:47 2012 at level 51:
Following the ambush of the relief party all those years ago Dracovius being near death, and being nursed back to health deep in the mines.
In his illness and the terrible wounds he suffered Dracovius lost many of his memories of the before, and the other slaves knew little of him.
It was only long after his recovery that Allessiandra revealed a small square of cloth she had prised from between his fingers when he was first brought to the mines.
Emblazoned on a golden field, a single black rose complete with long and elegant stem. Dracovius knew it meant something, maybe a symbol of his past or heritage.
Though in truth clearly the fragment of cloth was pulled from the uniform of his commander, oblivious Dracovius took up the name of Blackthorn as a mark of honor to the men he had fought beside.
Courage, Combat, Purity and Dedication
Added Mon May 14 03:58:46 2012 at level 51:
Dracovius has been seeking out followers of the Jaguar, discussing their experiences and
revelations on the path of the Jaguar. Although each of the Jaguars claws he has spoken with follow
different paths. They each have attained similiar beliefs in regards to the way of the Jaguar.
Dracovius is still puzzled by the various paths aside from Purity, as he sees them as all part of the Pure and Righteous Path.
The courage to stand before impossible tides, even if to spit in the eye of evil, or to buy time for his companions to escape.
The pure joy of combat, in facing a tough foe or horde, the exhilartion of facing down evil victoriois or not.
Though no one could consider him reckless, it is undeniable that he enjoys a good battle or two.
In acting by the code, by being pure of body and mind and searching for the purity of the moment in battle.
Sometimes he becomes lost in that moment, oftern prefering to battle alone so as not to need worry about keeping his companions alive ,as it is
better to have them escape to fight another day than it is to bring that evil down.
Retribution
Added Sun Jul 8 07:27:07 2012 at level 51:
As Dracovius awoke that morning to the ring of steel across the snow
covered courtyard, he made ready his arms and send a few swift prayers to
the Lady of Purity before he began his charge towards the fray. As battle
was joined he felt the throaty growl of the Jaguar within him. He felt a
renewed sense of purpose and the assault was pressed back. It was not
until a few days later that the young squire realised the significance
of the Jaguars growl. His close friend the elven thief Pioric asked him
if he was blessed with any particular virtue. As the young paladin
recounted his deeds he realised the new found power within him. After
some discussion with his guild master he was able to begin to harness
this new power of the light. He found he was able to bring down the holy
light on those who had trespassed against it. He set it to purpose and
set forth to crusade against the darkness once more, with heightened
faith in the Light.
Captain

The young squire trembled as the watcher announced the arrival of the
Captain of the Maran Eachainn. A living legend amongst the fortress,
venerable and wise beyond knowing, as well as a great hero of the wars
against the darkness. In his general stoic way, the squire was careful to
great the Captain with due respect and try to remain otherwise incognito.
Soon however the Captain called for crusades against the Ancient Dragons
of thera, and with his passion for the battle with the draconians rose,
he step forward to offer his blade to the challenge. They gathered a
mighty band of the light, all knowing the possible danger and death that
lay within the lairs. Dracovius had studied what little was known and
applied it alongside the Captains vast knowledge. They killed each in
turn, taking no casualties, until at last they faced the Ancient Red.
Dracovius was resolute as he entered the lair knowing his tough hide
would not protect him from the fires within. They battled within long and
hard, but it was too much for the squire and he fell, defeated. As the
party began to discuss their options, Dracovius looked at them all, and
said 'You all know the dangers, role + but I will re-enter that Lair and slay the beast, if you will stand by my
side' as one they agreed and returned to face the furious ancient dragon.
They battled long and hard, blades deflected from its scaly hide, as the
invokers rained elemental magics and the drum of Liktoliks beat spurned
them on. As they battled the very lava around them came to life,
Dracovius drawing them to him in an attempt to protect the lines. Finally
with a cry of anguish the great beast fell, and with all focus now on the
beasts before them, they fell quickly. role + role + Dracovius marvelled at his mentors gift for guiding them through each of
the tasks they had completed. role + role + Within a matter of days, Dracovius was by his Captains side once more,
the ancient elf relaxed and at peace within, ready to join with the
jaguar on the Azure Fields. The young squire felt an immense sense of
regret, that he had not spent more time with this great teacher. He felt
grief for the loss to the fortress also, and refused the Captain any of
his things, he knew losing such an item would bring him further grief and
that the lessons he had learned from the Great Elf would be the anchor for his
remembrance. Dracovius bid his farewells.role +

Added Sun Jul 8 07:39:08 2012 at level 51:
Drcovius lead the charge against the Scions and The Empire striking at
the Palace and the chasm. Countless times they would push back the
imperial forces from the gates of the Fortress of Light. By his side his
elven friends, Pioric, Lamahyra, Tanion, Nenvell and many others, each
filled with the light and willing to die for each other. He fought all
manner of beasts the war forcing him to face the chancellor and advisor
of the scions, as well as most of the imperial council. Though he was
harried often, he was able to bring his the Purity of the Light to bare
and press the forces of darkness back time and again. After a
particularly long engagement against a range of imperial forces the young
squire found himself, a Maran. Taking on the mantle he began to look
further afield paying more attention to how to strengthen the forces of
the fortress and show leadership in battle. He redoubled his efforts in
the defence of the Maran and Watcher and his assaults on the Palace and
chasm continued in earnest. He embraced the code so as to be a beacon
burning brightly in the name of the Lady of Purity. It was during this
period that he began to realise his feelings for Lamahrya had begun to
change
Lamahrya
Added Sun Jul 8 08:00:23 2012 at level 51:
The Paladin was in awe, due to his stature and position within his guild,
often enemies would come to the gates that he could not face. In these
times a bookish scribe would step forth. Dracovius worried at her
frailty, standing before orcs, and giants a like.As he watched her, he
saw before the battle was even joined she was mumbling incantations.Soon
the gates erupted with fire and lightning, the very land seeming to come
alive raining down death and destruction on those who would dare face the
maran. He greatlyrole + respected this sorceress from that day forward. They traveled together
oftern exploring dangerous places and cleansing them of evil. As they
gained in experience they became fast friends and Dracovius came to rely
on Lamahryas destructive power, the harmony of her shields and her adept
healing and attentive behaviour. Soon he began to regard her with the
same reverance he had young Allessiandra. Over a hundred years of battle
together Dracovius found himself enamoured by her selflessness, and
basking in her wit. Mostly he enjoyed the soft tinkle of her laughter,
and her sapphire eyes. As he came to realise the depth of his feelings,
he buried them deeply for the longest time. Focusing on his duty, and
coming to terms with the trauma of his past. Though his dedication to the
cleansing of evil in all its forms remains untarnished, he has gained and
understanding of forgiveness and the more difficult paths to to
redemption.
