Description
You see a humanoid with black skin approximately 10 feet tall. Despite his
height, he is heavily build with broad muscular shoulders, a barrel like ches
and thick strong legs. The skin of his face is rough and weathered the hue
more reddish than black. His facial hair is various shades of red. The short
hair on top of his skull is the darkest color but streaks of grey appear
around his temples. His thick bushy eyebrows protude over small narrow eyes
with yellow irises. His broad chin is covered by a full beard. Speckles of
grey appear in the beard, but most of it has retained a fairly bright
reddish-orange color. His nose is big, round and broken in several places.
In the center of his brow you note a large scar. The tissue is pale, almost
white, and roughly shaped as a half-circle. On his left forearm there is a
tattoo of a green viper, fangs bared. His right forearm sports a black spider
inthe center of its web.
His armor is made of animal hide and leather with a few choice metal pieces.
It has been dyed in various brown and green colors, perhaps with concealment
in mind. From his belt dangle a few heavy weapons.
Role
A lesson to ponder

Years have passed and Drahke has reached a considerable age among his
kin. With experience come new notions. While his body ages, he does
not feel dulled. Instead his spirit seeks to grow, learn,
expand. Twice the Trickster has appeared before Drahke. The first time
he brought a gift, the second a lesson for Drahke to ponder. There is
much more to the Great Maw than Drahke first was taught so many years
ago. Though he hungers, it is but one aspect of many. Drahke goes
down new paths looking to his venomous spirit kin for guidance.

When the elder of the great tree approached him Drahke felt something
close to awe. The elder was larger than Drahke, had the eyes of a wise
one and the brawn of a strong fighter. He hovered in the air with
wisps of cold air swirling around him. He and Drahke spoke of the
Circle, Great Maw, and Drahke. Though the years had lessened the pain,
it was still difficult for Drahke to speak of his failures as a youth.
Eventually the elder invited Drahke to live in the great tree. With a
fierce joy Drahke climbed up into the great tree shouting all the
while. He had found his tribe! The elder taught Drahke of the five
wisdoms given by the old spirits. Drahke took them to heart, most of
them already infused in his way of living. He met others of his new
tribe, learned with them and hunted at their side, but still he did
not feel whole.
Time passed and he returned to the jaette city. With his link to the
old spirits he started a fire in its centre and watched with grim
satisfaction as the bleeding carcass of the slave master fed the
flames. But still he did not feel whole.
Months passed and then Drahke came upon the snake. It hissed in his
mind before biting him. Everything went black and before he could
react Drahke had been slain by the shade bone mage and his
companions. As a spirit Drahke was full of confusion. Who was that
snake? What brought darkness? How did he die? As his flesh began to
reform his confusion faded. The bone mage was of no consequence, a
thing to be destroyed, no more. He felt a new presence coursing in his
blood and heard a faint hissing whisper in his mind. For the first
time since his youth Drahke felt whole.
Aspects of character
Added Wed Dec 29 13:45:23 2004 at level 49:
ON SPEECH
Drahke's active vocabulary is rather limited. He seems unable to
articulate words with more than two syllables, though he can
understand some of these. He finds it difficult to distinguish
between members of the small races. While he can tell an elf (small;role + pale slim one) from a dwarf (small broad one), at times he mistakes
individuals of the same race for each other. Having great trouble with
names, especially long ones, he prefers to call people things like
'tiny black hair', 'broad singer' and so on. He has managed to find
short calling names for most of his new tribe, e.g. 'Jin', 'Aesri'.
ON DECEPTION
Due to his increased dealings with the small people Drahke has
gradually come to realize that not only is it possible to say
something that is not true, it can be rather useful as well. However,
it takes Drahke great effort and concentration to attempt anything
beyond the most basic of deceptions. In general, when asked a
question, he will reply with a straight answer, given that he
understood the question in the first place.
ON STRENGTH AND COOPERATION
Drahke has faced many hardships in his adult life. He no longer sees
any reason to flaunt his strength, brag of any of his exploits or
enter pissing contents in general. On the other hand he is aware of
his many weaknesses and has a matter of factly attitude to taunts. He
does not have suicidal tendecies. He is not likely to aid others
unless given good reason to. From his years as an outcast he has
become used to being alone. He does not actively shun the company of
others, but he does not seek it either. He acknowledges that some
tasks like burning the spire are best done in cooperation with others.

After some years Drahke met with a wise one living in a great
tree. The wise one spoke of Ancient Spirits, Freedom and many strange
things Drahke did not follow. Some of it sounded like the teachings of
his village's shaman, however. Drahke went to the tree and hunted with
some of those who dwelled there. It felt like coming home to his old
village! Drahke wanted to join the tribe of the great tree. He was
told to meet with their chief hunter Nok. Drahke was awed by the
imposing Nok. They spoke of Drahke's place in the great circle of
things.
Nok sent Drahke on a quest to gather a special item, which was like
Drahke. After his initial confusion Drahke realised that this was a
second chance. He was supposed to find a totem! Instead of using
animals, Nok's hunters apparently identified with objects. In his
travels he came across a flaming sceptre of chaos. The thin metal rod
struck a chord inside him. Its flames were like the great cleanser. Its
bite was like the wrath of the great spirits. The flames ever
changing, unpredictable like the wind. Drahke could wield the sceptre
as the Ancients could wield Drahke. Drahke wanted to present the
sceptre to Nok. For weeks he travelled the forests listening for the
voice of the Nok but to no avail. Eventually he fell to some of the
forces of the Empire and lost the sceptre. He has not yet seen or
heard from Nok. Dhrake has looked for the sceptre, but Dhrake does not
hope for a third chance. He knows that the Great Maw laughs at prayers
and devours what he pleases. Drahke is content to hunt and live. He is
disgusted at his own weakness and is bent on improving as a hunter.
Events: Outcast

After his lucky escape Drahke roamed the country side around Udgaard
for some months. He believed the vision he had received after eating
the mind affecting mushrooms, but he was completely stupefied as to how
he should accomplish the task of Great Maw. Being cast out from his
village meant he could not return to his valley. Shunning company
altogether he gradually learned to fight with a long thick branch.
Eventually he felt confident enough to attack one of the jaette
sentries. Pleasing though his victory was it was not enough to make
him dare approach the jaette city proper. Instead he reluctantly
agreed to meet with another fire giant who wanted to hunt with him.
In the company of the giant he learned more of the land of the small
people. He began to travel with others, always insisting on the
company of at least one giant, not trusting the small people. Often
he had trouble understanding their speech being used to a culture
where words had no more than two syllables. The others often gave him
small shiny discs. While he found some of them pretty, he found it
silly to collect so many. He did not understand the others' explanation
of what the discs where good for, so he simply dropped them.
Eventually as he grow stronger he dared to approach a larger
settlement. At first he had shunned them, being afraid of the noise
and the crowds and of the danger of being captured again. Now he knew
that most of the small people dared not attack him, so he began to
strike back. He reasoned that if Great Maw wanted the green skins'
city, destroying other cities would likely please him as well.
Background: Brief overview
Added Fri Oct 8 05:25:57 2004 at level 15:
Drahke was born and raised in an isolated small shamanistic community
of fire giants living among hot springs west of the mountains
surrounding Darsylon. Drahke was sent north as a rite of passage to
find his spirit totem. He failed to do this and was captured by
jaettes who sold him as a slave to work in the mines of Sitran. He
managed to escape during the turmoil caused by a band of adventurers
led by a paladin. Shamed and hurt by the slave labour he prays for
deliverance. Granted a vision of the patron spirit of his village,
the great devourer, that tells him he is an outcast due to his
weakness. He is given one chance for redemption. A suitable sacrifice
must be made: The jaette city along with a great many of its
inhabitants must be set to the torch.
