Description

In the shadows, a dwarf-like visage moves with stealth and purpose. He is more slender, taller than a dwarf and you notice violaceous eyes which briefly flash as if feral and return to an unsettling blackness. Black hair is long which complements his greasy beard, long and braided. His image flickers and reappears, he seems wild something about him savage. His skin is ebony but looks statuesque as if he was made of onyx. His armor seems as if it is pitch-black, metal glints and reflects, maybe they are spikes but it is hard to tell. Crimson lips part revealing teeth, pointed and razor-sharp and his long muscular limbs, veins-roping indeed proving he is flesh, clench a dagger tightly.

In the under dark, humans excavating the tunnels, pick axes gleaming in the pitch black from
the scant light of the lanterns hit into the earth, chiming wickedly, echoing throughout the
cavernous darkness.  A young duergar watches in the shadows, they are close to his
home, hidden deep within the under dark.  Moving with speed, one traveler watches a
fountain of blood gush from the throat of the other, clasping at the wound, the lantern
hitting the ground, the flame, snuffed from the tunnels wet pool of blood.  Suddenly, pitch
blackness, a stumbling and a cry echoes from the other traveler, his feet kicking at the earth
trying to escape.  Feral eyes light up the tunnel and only screams can be heard as the traveler
his dissected, parts of him eaten maybe.  A broken lantern, and a sack: gold coins, maps and 
rations are the only items they carried.  Directions leading to a world, a surface not known
to the duergar are seen, he wonders, his only identifiable emotion greed and disgust.  
Making his ways through tunnels, through rivers , dark and blue, things never seen,
he makes his way to the surface.

Terror of the Seas

The tempest storms its furies rage like a sparrow, the duergar aboard the Thundering Maiden, 
watches as waves crash on the hull of the ship, the force of them ebbing, but the storm inside the 
duergar raging on.  The surface has much adventure and treasure, the shadows contrast the light, 
the duergar moves silent but fast like the waves building speed then crashing, piercing with 
awesome force.   The reputation of the ship grows as the duergar dissects enemies, and to be 
closer to the ship, becomes a member of the Hamsah guild, by the ports, to lead trade in the city 
and protect the Thundering Maiden.  The crew assembling, the tempest raging, the duergar sets 
sail, a terror of the seas, land, the surface below and above, in the blackest of hearts perhaps,
when the raging ebbs, he can be found with his crew, a grin enjoying a mug, the kind that gives 
visions, and with loud banter, tell tales before the sweeping of the storm moves him again.

Reputation

It has been years since the duergar has left the underdark.  The desire in him to be known pulsates, a 
violent maelstrom the tempest hailing its furies like the beating of a heart.  He has risen to the top of his 
guild, the Bandit King.  Controlling the ports and trade in Hamsah, he knows everyone that enters and 
leaves the town.  Others follow the duergar, perhaps a charisma maybe provided by the shadows, they 
heed his call as does the seas heed the call of Captain Neltouda.  As all rivers and seas connect to the 
oceans, as does the duergar's reputation.  The calm before the storm the fear of the shadows, as some 
fear parts of the sea only knowing when it is too late as the storm crackles and unleashes its violent 
furies.

The Calm Before The Storm The Infamous

...Aboard the Thundering Maiden, the duergar slams a cask of ale once, twice, three times to the table
before in one motion chugging its contents down in one gulp. He wipes the ale off his greasy beard and
bellows something ancient sounding which reverberates off the water, a tiny ripple that echoes
throughout the seas. The ports and trade in Hamsah have been flourishing. The roster of the Hamsah
guild grows slowly but surely as he recruits new thieves. None seem to question where his loyalties lie,
which the duergar finds rather amusing as he serves the Empire merely as a means to an end. The
duergars true loyalties lie to himself, as he first found his way throughout the under dark and to the
surface, it has been his own sense of will to be known. Captain Neltouda has helped guide the duergar
to continue to follow the thundering pulse inside him as well as teaching the duergar the true meaning
of the calm before the storm. Rising through the ranks of the Empire, and in league with the high priest
or so it seems, he uses this to solidify his presence. The duergar is slowly gathering everyone in his
pocket, from the loner rangers in the woods, to the leaders of Scion. If the duergar can be risen by the
new Emperor, the Warmaster, he will seem opposed to the high priest, obtaining Shadow Lord perhaps,
the high priest then thinks his vote for Emperor will be secure. The scions endless lust for power have
them now following the duergar behind the scenes, eventually everything and everyone will clash, the
duergar whether discovered will be infamous in his own right as the amount of gore such a cataclysmic
collision can bring would be likened to the greatest and strongest tempest ever seen. For now
though...the duergar works in the shadows preparing his plan...the calm before the storm...before the...
