Description

Tall and slim, this young man stands here with a look of deep concentration upon his face. Jet black hair contrasts with the pale skin of his face, lending a dramatic element to his icy blue eyes. While his hair hangs loosely to his shoulders, there is a slight protrusion as his half-elven ears poke ever slightly from his mane. A practiced smile is fixed upon his lips, as his eyes look cautiously in every direction at once, apparently in search of.. something.

Role

Draylon, In Brief

Added Sat Jun 26 10:43:23 2010 at level 1:
Draylon blames the Empire for everything. While it is a part of the story
of his life, Draylon was never destined for a simple life. Devious by
nature, even when dealing with his own family, Draylon was simply
"different" from a normal child. Hate filled his heart from such a young
age, Draylon didn't even recognize it for what it was.

And so while it is his own nature at fault, Draylon places the blame
elsewhere. It will become a pattern in his life, manifesting in uncounted
ways.

But in Draylon's eyes, the Empire is to blame. They are the ones who
destroyed his farm, and his family (as you will later read). Draylon
holds them in contempt, and vows to destroy them.

But Draylon is a clever lad, too. He knows that he can't fight the Empire
outright and destroy it. So he plans on weaseling his way into the
Palace, and clawing his way up the ranks until he can at last destroy it
from within.

Impossible, some might say. And they would probably be right. For, though
Draylon does not realize it, there is more to the Blood Oath than words
and a hand shake. But we will see what fate has in store for young
Draylon.

Draylon, Childhood

Added Sat Jun 26 10:44:24 2010 at level 1:
They seemed to be a happy and unremarkable (if a bit unconventional)
family. A womanly Elf, a humble human farmer. And a single child.

Except this family had a dark secret. The farmer was not always a farmer.
Decades ago, he was a feared murderer, a thief and a brigand. A vile
creature, to be sure. The Elf was once a Priest. How they came to be
together is a story for another time. Suffice it to say that even the
most vile creatures can fall to the charms of an Elven lady, and might
even learn the error of their ways. And so this farmer had done.

But some people just have bad blood, as the old-timers might say. And
they might say it about this farmer. For while he was redeemed at the
hands of the Elf, his blood flowed through young Draylon.

Unfortunately, this happy couple was none the wiser to this fact. Nor was
Draylon, for that matter. They all considered him a normal young boy.

But Draylon wasn't normal. Devious, at the outset, Draylon soon began to
learn to manipulate the other children in the schoolyard. Never in
trouble himself, any hijinx at the school could be traced back to him, if
anyone cared to look. But no one did.

Draylon himself didn't even think anything of the fact. He was just being
himself, after all. What's the harm?

Draylon, Orphaned

Added Sat Jun 26 10:45:51 2010 at level 1:
Draylon's life would change one warm summer morning. The ground rumbled,
but it was no earthquake. No, the Imperial lands were expanded, at the
hands of the approaching army.

Draylon, ever mindful of his surroundings, realized hours before their
arrival. And so he hid, near his home. And watched. And waited.

And waited.

Hours passed, as Draylon kept himself safe. And in minutes, it was over.
The Army arrived at his farm and enveloped it, as if it was nothing.

Father and mother tried to put up a fight.. but it was hopeless. They had
no time to escape, and no one can stand against such a horde
indefinitely. And so Draylon watched as his mother and father perished.
Not even their bodies remained, as the Army moved on.

Some might say Draylon acted foolishly. That he should have warned his
family of the impending danger. But that thought never crossed Draylon's
mind. Instead, Draylon saw the Empire take what was his. And he grew
angry from it.

He might not understand it, but it was the lack of power that truly
frustrated him. Draylon was always the master of his domain, manipulating
his friends, and even his trusting parents, into succumbing to his will.
But this Army did not know or care of his existence.

And Draylon hated them for it. He would tell himself, he wanted
vengeance. He wanted justice for what they did to his family. But no. He
hates them for what they can do, and what he cannot. Yet.

Draylon, Guilded

Added Sat Jun 26 10:46:46 2010 at level 1:
In the aftermath of this destruction, Draylon moved himself to Balator.
It was the pretense of joining the Orphanage there. But Draylon had no
intention of it. Instead, he sought out a means to acquire his vengeance
(remember, Draylon truly believes he wants revenge). Finding the
assassin's guild, Draylon knew he was home. He ached to learn the means
of killing, unnoticed, of destroying his enemies (and he knew he already;role + would have many enemies) silently.

Of course Draylon was instantly accepted. The guildmaster was quick to
note his aptitude.. not to mention, his rather loose morals. No longer a
child, no longer a student. He was now Draylon, the assassin.

And first order of business, Draylon would take the Blood Oath.

As you already know, Draylon is a clever young man. And he knows that his
vengeance will not come by assaulting the Empire. But rather by
subterfuge, by stealth and by deception.

Draylon is clever. But he doesn't know everything. Only time will tell,
how his great plan plays out.

Draylon, Bloodied

Added Tue Jun 29 05:49:59 2010 at level 17:
It was easy for him. And it came naturally, too naturally. Draylon knew
that if he was to reach the inner circle of the Empire, they would have
to respect him. Respect his skills. And respect his ability to deal
death.

And so Draylon set upon the path. The first time Draylon committed
murder, it proved difficult. His prey fought back fiercely. Though
futily, as it turned out. And very soon, Draylon's hands were bloody with
the blood of an innocent.

The rest were easier. And before he even knew it, Draylon was a mass
murderer. Feared by some. And respected by others.

These lives never had any significance to Draylon. None of them had any
impact on Draylon, any more than slaughtering a chicken might have impact
on a butcher.

A wiser man might question their sanity at this realization.. or at the
very least, their morality. But Draylon only saw proof of his destiny to
destroy the Empire. These lives were stepping stones, not innocent's
lost, but innocent's sacrified.

Draylon could never admit that he reveled in the role. He could never
even fathom that he was the same as very thing he longed to destroy.

Draylon, Oathed

Added Tue Jun 29 05:54:43 2010 at level 17:
When Draylon first laid eyes upon the Emperor, he knew it was his chance.
Like all men of power, Draylon knew the Emperor would fall victim to
flattery. And so Draylon laid it on thick.

The Emperor was impressed enough to offer the Oath without delay.

Even a lowly Blood Oath is free to enter the Palace gates. That is all it
would require. Once inside, the sly Draylon could dismantle the Empire.
Destroy it, once brick at a time.

Of course Draylon said the words of the Oath without a hint of a second
thought. My Heart, My Soul, my life for the Empire. Why not? What are a
few meaningless words? If they granted him the access he sought, Draylon
may very well have said anything.

And now, Draylon is a Blood Oath of the Empire. If not trusted, he was at
least accepted by the Empire. He could come and he could go as he
pleased.

But as the time grew near, Draylon had a thought. Perhaps now was not yet
the time. No.. he should wait. Stalk his prey, as he moved in for the
kill. And so Draylon would do. And in the mean time, Draylon would act as
the model Oath. Continue to gain their trust, to watch his enemy.

And Draylon would serve the Empire. Just for a short time longer, he kept
promising to himself.

Draylon didn't even realize he was lying to himself.

Intrigue(d)

Added Sun Jul 4 02:25:47 2010 at level 27:
Now a Citizen, one might think Draylon would take the chance to make his
move. But still refusing to see his true goals, Draylon simply continued
to make excuses.

And these were very interesting times within the Empire. An easy excuse,
for one such as Draylon.

There was intrigue at the Palace. Treachery. Mutiny. Revolution?

Whatever you call it, there was an attempt to overthrow the Emperor. The
balance of power was in turmoil.. and such events, Draylon assumed, would
leave a void to be filled.

And so Draylon asked himself, why should he struggle as a mere Citizen,
hoping to cause some damage? Why not instead strive for better things?
More power. More trust. More opportunities.

And now.. there were rumors that the Shadow Lord had abandoned the
Empire. A vaccuum, just when one was needed.

But there was one minor problem. Who would it be to become Emperor? Once
things were decided, all allegiances would be questioned. And the loyal
would be rewarded.

Should Emperor Ckath retain his throne, he would of course punish those
who stood against him. But should the War Master Hanord take it, as he
intended? Well, then he would be forced to replace Ckath's minions with
his own.

Draylon knew he could never impact the Emperor. Such was far beyond his
influence. And so instead, Draylon made it clear where his loyalty lay.
It was with Ckath.. when Ckath was present. And Hanord.. when the War
Master was awake.

Draylon became a master of gathering information. Careful not to reveal
any allegiences publicly, Draylon was covered in any event. If the rest
of the Empire was so clever as he, Draylon might not have such a valuable
thing to offer the next Emperor as the information he held.

Proud of himself, Draylon only waited for the announcement. And the
rewards to follow.

Oh yes.. and the fall of the Empire, Draylon almost forgot to remind
himself. That too.. eventually.
