Description
Standing 14 feet tall, this storm giant towers over his surroundings. A
thick braid of kale green hair desends down from his Crown of the Storm
Giants to his robust shoulders. Purple streaks stand out in sections of
the immaculate braid. Grey eyes have a steady gaze to the horizon,
scanning and watching. Polished mithril armors adorn his massive legs,
while a grey mantle of shark skin and teeth adorns his chest, which is as
solid as it is large. His arms are plated with gleaming bands made from
diamonds. A huge two-handed weapons notched over his back stands at the
ready. This mature, and tested, holy warrior stands poised. His thickly
scared and corded muscles are tensed and ready to pounce. Though there
may seem to be no battle taking place, he looks ready to intercept.
As you look closer, you can see that...

Drogdenbaryd was born in a simple village under Loch Terridan. His
father was a sergeant for the Commander of the Waves rapid strike force,
while his mother was a healer assigned to attend to the wounded soldier
on the Loch.
After a vicious assault from the Black Hammer forces, Sergeant
Brinehammer reported to the infirmary to have his injuries tended too.
When Lady Boridal touched the sergeant for the first time, their eyes
locked and it was love at first sight.
Even after the birth of their son, Sergeant Brinehammer stayed on in the
strike force promoting and gaining much expertise in the arts of combat.
Lady Boridal focused on the rearing of their son, and only tended the
wounds of her husband as needed. They had a happy and wonderful home.
Drogdenbaryd was always quick to be on his fathers heels; watching as he
practiced his martial skills, inspected, and disciplined his troops. He
often assist his father when he would aid the families of fallen
soldiers, helping mend fences, build shelters, and make sure that they
were taken care of. The shining example of being soldier and leader
still deeply entrenched itself into who Drogdenbaryd is.
While at home, his mother saw to his education. She taught him the
written word, philosophy, healing arts. Healing that can be done in
combat or out of combat. They often would go to the temples and pray for
guidance and show their gratitude to the gods that their loved ones were
still with them.
When he was old enough he elected to become a paladin. He felt it
honored both of them by combining combat at arms and devotion to the
divine. He quickly moved up in ranks when it came to martial combat. He
many years watching his father had made it easier for him. He again
choosing to honor his father took up large two-handed weapons.

A strong and humble paladin that has taken up arms against evil, pledging
himself to the cause of the Fortress of Light. At his core combating
evil gives him a sense of accomplishment like no other. The rush and
joy as he strives to defeat evil gives him the knowledge that he is doing
the right thing, his heart is untroubled and there is no remorse in
knowing that evil has been felled. He will do this until his dying
breath.
He is often asked by others if they can join with him, and he welcomes
their company because he knows, as his father knew, no soldier can win
alone. It takes team work.
All that he does, he does to honor his family, his guild, the Fortress,
and Lady Baerinika. If each day he has driven back some darkness, or
destroyed the taint that invades his life than he has brought honor to
those he loves.
As his father climbed the ranks of the strike force, so wishes
Drogdenbaryd. He will be dedicated to the cause and his fellow soldier
of light. Be they mage, martial fighter, or divinely gifted they are all
allies and worthy of respect as they lay their life on the line to
protect the beliefs and lives of others.
He seeks to build a special camaraderie with the other followers of
Baerinika, for he feels that they are examples to their fellow man of how
each one of us should stand up against what is wrong, and evil. That all
men have the courage, if they but look within themselves. Perhaps
together with them he can learn to bring it out in others.
Am I doing enough?

When asked how to show his faith and respect toe Baerinika she replied,
Through action.
So ever on the march has Drogdenbaryd been. Resting only so long as
necessary to resupply and then redeploy to wherever outskirt evil may be
hiding. League upon league of travel allows the mind to think and
ponder.
Was this enough? questioned Drogdenbaryd. Was this the right action?
To help answer these questions he turned to a man he respected.
The Marshal Oshui is an unspoken mentor to Drogdenbaryd, a follower of
Baerinika as well as one of the leaders of the Fortress Marans. So,
when he expressed his concerns, the Marshal was instantly receptive to
one of his squires needs.
The Marshal spoke at length to him, explaining that for Drogdenbaryd to
have a deep and meaning full relationship [with Baerinika] one must
distinguish themselves.
Do not be Paladin one hundred and eighty-seven, he said.
To do this he must reflect on what he wants, why he wants to march
against the wicked, why he follows Baerinika.
The Marshal opened up Baerinika to Drogdenbaryd in as much as saying to
delve into who Baerinika is. Speak with her and being a personal
relationship with her.
The initial meeting with Baerinika was awkward at first, much like a
young boy mustering the courage to ask the pretty lady to dance. Once
the initial stammering (on the part of Drogdenbaryd) Baerinika had him
enthralled in her story of how she became a god, and what she was like as
a mortal. Combat, tactics and his pure enjoyment of it were the common
grounds he found in his goddess.
Reflection of who he is.

Dorgs self-reflection took a bit of time to understand. Perhaps an elf
would have figured it out sooner.
Drogdenbaryd adores combat, the thrill of matching tactics against an
opponent. When he initiates that first from he feels a serenity of
thought, a flow of the world around him. When in combat the world makes
sense.
Drogdenbaryd seeks out the wicked not simply because they are evil, and
hit honors his parents. He does so because of what the wicked do,
represent, and to punish their evil ways with the ultimate price. There
will be no peace with the wicked. He hopes that his actions will help
bring about a golden age. One that is free of wicked men.
Drogdenbaryd follows Baerinika because he believes she too wishes the
same for Thera, and guides those with the courage, and willingness to
take up the cause for the light.
Drogdenbaryd became a squire because he saw comrades-in-arms fighting for
his cause under one banner. A banner that stood for the light and all
those ideals it protected.
Drogdenbaryd sees himself as a leader among his fellow men. His
mentorship under his father has given him keen insight and understanding.
A leader is not just one who barks orders, but someone who can empower
give them the resources and room to accomplish it. Leaders build their
followers today to be future leaders tomorrow.
Because of his upbringing in a military back ground he still holds a
profound respect for rank and courtesies of those ranks. He will
continue to salute his fellow squires, the marans above him as well as
the Captain and Marshal.
If circumstances should lend him to rise in the ranks of the Fortress,
Drogdenbaryd will do so happily and with great diligence, but if they do
not, then he will be an example to all of followership, and a mentor to
all.
Drogdenbaryd will continue to cultivate his relationship with his goddess
to whatever depths may it lead. He will seek out and listen to her
stories of combat, of divinity, and share some of his own with her. He
hopes that one day she and him can look out onto the world and know that
a golden age is upon them.
