Role
Droma - Sphere Strength - Villager (hopefully) - Thror Follower
Added Tue Jan 19 18:13:14 2010 at level 21:
Droma was an ordinary svirfnebli woman living an ordinary life. She cooked,
she cleaned, she tended to her garden, she catered to the every whim of
her brood of nieces and nephews. She was not unattractive, yet she was
unmarried, unusual for a svirfnebli woman of breeding age, but not
completely out of the ordinary. However, she was content, and it didn't
bother her in the slightest by her lack of a husband. In fact, being
unmarried was a blessing for Droma - a husband would only mean more mess to
clean, more food to cook, and, in her mind, another big baby to take care of.
To top it off, she'd have to be subservient to this man-child, and the
thought of that disgusted her.
She was a strong, completely self-sufficient woman, and could not comprehend
how an adult male could not fend for himself. She firmly believed that if
not for having a wife or mother, the entire male gender of svirfnebli would
regress to become as unkemp and chaotic as the unruly Orc. Where was their
strength derived from, if not from their women-folk? If a man wasn't fed,
dressed, groomed, and had their ego's massaged by a woman, they could barely
function at all!
Being a woman with a very strong independent streak, and being unmarried and
having to tend to some "husbandly/provider" duties, she took strong offense
to being considered weaker or inferior to men. She tried hard, doubly hard,
really, to excel at all of the "male-oriented" duties of her culture -
hunting, mining, fighting, etc. And as she worked hard doing the duties of
both the male AND female, she began to grow stronger physically and mentally,
becoming more muscular and chiseled than most men and more astute at
managing her time as well.
Over time, she began to be considered "odd" by both the men AND women of
her kin - neither group was comfortable with the internal and external
changes she underwent. Her nature was no longer "feminine" and both
men and women alike were intimidated by her.
Character traits:
- No nonsense mentality - Droma is unconcerned with trivial things and
lame excuses.
- Hatred of sexual discrimination and inuendo. It is insulting to Droma.
- Respects strength and self-sufficiency in others. Keeps note of those
who notice and resepct HER strength.
Character development goals:
- Find characters willing to accept her for who she is and are not
intimidated by her.
- Change perception of how "females" should be viewed.
- Promote "strength" and how to reforge oneself - (Thror follower)
Weakness refocused into Strength
Added Tue Jan 19 18:13:52 2010 at level 21:
Droma knows that it is the fault of both men AND women that much of Thera
promotes weakness. The segregation of duties between sexes make for
"specialists" in different aspects of life, but "complete" beings. One
cannot rely on another to "complete" themselves, instead, one must gather
the knowledge for oneself. Laziness, ignorance, and any other excuse one
can make are not tolerated by Droma. If one is truly determined to
accomplish a goal, there is no reason it cannot be achieved. Resolve and
perserverence are paramount.
Droma strives to break the perception of discrimination of duties in others,
so that they may see beyond the boundaries of their cultures and upbringing.
In this way, she can begin to forge a civilization where everyone need only
rely on themselves, instead of on excuses. She scoffs at the phrase, "I
cannot...", and will chide others that use it.
She believes that everything that one needs to achieve perfection can be
created and forged by one's self - either with their minds, or something
they can create and hold in their own hands. The powers of the magi,
stolen from the gods, only help to aid in the demise of mortal culture,
giving one another crutch to rely on.
She is relentless in her self-imposed duty to shape and mold perfection in
herself and others, and will not stop until she collapses in the absolute
moment of death and release.
Religion and Refocus
Added Tue Jan 26 16:11:16 2010 at level 30:
Droma has found religion - spending time honing her goals, and techniques
in achieving them. She has also found the way to Lord Hammersong's shrine,
and makes frequent visits there in order to speak with the Sapper Lord, as
well as sear her blades in the Forge's flames. She believes that the flames
of the Forge guide her blades as she wields them against her foe.
Most often, after a battle, she speaks with her foe about the Forge, and how
if they were to concentrate on building their souls more than they concentrated
on greedily filling their pockets, they might too achieve a level of strength.
Her focus on strength in religion has also allowed her to focus and pinpoint
her goals:
- to achieve perfection within her own body and mind,
- rid Thera of magic, so that its mortals can focus on their own strengths
instead of on gaining "Power" (Droma sees a BIG difference between "strength"
and "Power" - magi can become "powerful" through their magics, but are not
"strong"),
- and be an example of "strength" that others will emulate.
In her trials, she has targeted magi exclusively - though her strength and
focus have made her a target of many (especially the Empire). She does not shy
away from battle brought upon her, and though the excitement of battle fuels
her, she refuses to be pulled from her goals and goaded into unnecessary
bloodshed - she sees that as being "chaotic" and unfocused.
She has also come to realize that she must fight battles that most other
Therans would not even consider taking on, battles that some might consider
suicidal, to show that she is is the epitomy of strength.
A hut eludes her.
Added Thu Jan 28 18:47:24 2010 at level 31:
Droma has made great efforts to get accepted as a Berserker of the Battle
Rager clan, yet the honor of a hut eludes her, while it has been been
besowed on some that, in her mind, lack the drive, skill and ambition she
has shown. This frustruates her, and though it does NOT discourage her,
she cannot comprehend what she is doing wrong.
She has accepted that the challenges of life will mould and harden her, but
she hopes that they do not anger and jade her as well. How can she stand
as a beacon of strength, and drill others in the ways of the Sapper if she
is aloof and unapproachable? It is a fine line she must walk, she realizes.
Sometimes she wonders if her road to becoming a Villager, and especially a
Villager Berserker, will be more difficult for her than others because she
is female, even though her prowess as a magi hunter and killer should endear
her to its members. Instead, she has been confronted by villagers question
her "hatred" and "bloodthirst" even though her actions against enemies in
their presence, suggest otherwise.
The only female villager she has come across, Sophia, is a Defender who has
taken on a more nurturing, coddling role within the Village, and Droma
refuses to be pigeon-holed in that role that does not define her properly.
In fact, she has refused the assistance of Sophia and her bandages, when
offered, as she feels inclined to "go it alone", without the help of others.
Droma relies on herself, and no other - and that may come across as aloofness,
Even such, she has gathered four recommendations and has earned the respect
of others within the Village, and she will relentlessly pursue the hut that
eludes her.
A hut is built.
Added Wed Feb 3 19:28:10 2010 at level 35:
It took the promotion of a new Battle Commander, Knacnar, for Droma to finally
gain acceptance within the Village. A long time coming, but an ordeal that
taught her patience, resilience, and the ability to fight smartly even when
the Village is without the bloody head of the magician - all traits that will
benefit her in the future.
She is both excited and humbled by the opportunity she has been granted, yet
her acceptance came with a steep price.
Droma, during her conversation with Knacnar, besides gaining recognition with
a hut, also learned that Knacnar has little respect for women as he snickered
and called her "squishy" simply because she was female. When Droma responded
negatively to the Commander's comments, she was laughed at. Droma will not
tolerate this behavior, and will redouble her efforts to gain respect for not
only herself, but for women in general. Droma believes that there is no room
for discrimination within the Village, and she will not be belittled and
demeaned due to acts of nature beyond her control. Only her self-control kept
her from violently displaying her aggravation with Knacnar's antics, and
though she has pledged to focus this anger on her for, she fears it will
bubble to the surface before long.
