Description

Before you is a short, stocky figure nearly as wide as he is tall. Clearly of duergar origins, Drucin has the typical pale skin and dark features of his bloodline. But the similarities to his kin in the Underdark seem to stop there. First off, Drucin is impeccably groomed. His hair, long and black and shaved at the sides is slicked back into a perfectly braided ponytail. He has foregone the typical beard of his people in favor of a gloriously greasy handlebar mustache. A pair of similarly bushy, perfectly trimmed eyebrows furrow upon his brow. His face, nearly perfectly white, contrasts sharply with the black of his hair and mustache creating a striking visage. A pair of thoughtful dark-green eyes peer out at the world, taking away everything while giving away nothing.

Me Thoughts and Plans

You know what I like? Grease. You see a big machine, right? And you look at
all the gears, and the whirrs, and the whatnots all humming along, all making
it go. But what you don't see is the grease. You don't see it, but it's
there. And if it wasn't there, you'd see that for sure, get me? All those
gears, they'd start grinding on each other, the whirrs'd get replaced by
smoke, and next thing you know - all them whatnots is ablaze, and that pretty
machine aim't nothing but ruin. Nobody thinks about it, but machines need
grease more than anything. 

Civilizations, societies - they be just like a machine. Sure you got your
important folk up top, taking the spotlight. And sure you got your people
down below doing the hard stuff, getting stepped on. But between all of it,
you got people like me. You got grease. And without us, society don't go.

We are the collectors of information. We're the betters and the fixers. We're
the hot tippers and the dark whispers. Get me? Where there ain't no way, we
make a way. And we do it all unseen like. Yeah, I reckon everything
(especially a fine mustache) is better with grease.

Now me? I ain't no Underdark duergar, no sir. I'm from the topside, uptown.
Grew up an orphan, so far as I know. I mean, maybe my 'rents is still alive,
but I ain't never saw hide nor hair. But that be alright, because it made me
savvy and keen. I been outwitting the outwittable long as I can remember. And
been looking good doing it. 

So, reckon I was destined for the thieves guild, coming up like I come up.
Sure, I knew me some thugs and mercenaries in me time, but hell, who wants to
work that hard and get all... dead... and whatnot. Nah, not this duergar, get
me? I'm for playing it real smooth, keeping the hair and stache right, unless
I got real good reason to go messing it up.

Thing of it is? I'm getting real tired of these small-time capers. I'm meant
for more important stations, bigger heists. I'm meant to be running things!
Things like the world, as Emperor. But I'ma start out with the Shadow Sect
and the Voralian City. Go from there.

Reckon that might be enough to impress Lord Destuvius himself too. I figure,
that's a god that gets how the world works. That's a god what understands the
grease. Hope he appreciates a fine mustache too.

Godfather Today, Shadow Lord Tomorrow

I do like having me feet on Jirash's desk. Godfather of Voralian City, keen
and savvy! Weren't much to it. I talked some folks into paying me some gold,
made the proper donations, and here I be. As the Design teaches, if ya got a
place in this world, seize it.

Now, I done picked this city to control strategically, see. All them Fortress
types live here, and I can be keeping tabs on their comings and goings. Plus,
it's clean. And I like it clean.

So, I be running the whores outta the inns, making sure them shopkeepers pay
up when it be time, and generally keeping the underworld here nice and
Orderly.

Been moving up those Imperial ranks too. I be a full Shadow now, if not one
of them Elite. Them other Shadows clearly look to me for leadership, and
rightly so. I be a man of panache and influence, if not authority just yet.
But I figure, I'll keep showing me stuff and sooner or later someone will put
me in charge of the Shadow outfit.

Fact, I'm already starting to judge who may hold Council seats in the future
to prepare for a vote.

I don't think Rhouder, the current War Master, is going to hold the spot much
longer. Ain't never seen 'em once in me whole life. Don't see an obvious
replacement for him, but I'll keep me eye out.

Laisren holds the position of Dread Lord, and I don't see much of him
neither. He told me he's biding his time, not moving up in his guild, so he
can learn some spells and become a vampyre. I dunno, but you can't lead when
you can't even mix it up with heroes, so I'm not sure what to do with him
neither. Again, no obvious replacement.

Bokrahr is the only Divine with any kinda titles, and he be seeking Lord
Destuvius as well. He is clearly highly favored, and I figure he'd have to
screw up real bad to not be High Priest. For the time being, he's the one I'm
working on the most.

All in all, things ain't going so bad for such a short time at it.
