Description
The figure before you stands just three and a half feet tall. His wiry frame
is covered from head to toe in deep scarring. His pale grey leathery skin
makes the scares look like chisel marks in stone. Muscles from years of
working hard labour can be seen. He wears clothing of various pieces of
armor and cloth that he has gathered in his travels. He carries a couple of
weapons including some axes. His travel pack is well worn now, showing his
intent of traveling the lands, rather than the soft city life. His pale eyes
turn to you, peering from the deep crevasses of his brow.

Drulthuld grew up in the beautiful city of Lower Cragstone. Drulthuld is a
miner, like his father and his father before him. It is in his blood,
wandering the vast underdark, searching for signs of precious minerals and
ores. Their dedication to their trade and inherent ability to sense the
minerals deep underground has garnered much respect for his family in the
Svirfnebli community. Having been a miner for many decades, Drulthuld and his
mining crew would leave the gates of the city behind, with their equipment
and their carts, provisions for a week or two, they would head down a shaft,
or start a new one. Ever watchful of other denizens of the underdark mining
is dangerous undertaking and not to be taken rashly. For gas pockets,
cave-ins, or attack from Drow, Duergar or other nasty creatures can suddenly
end the life of a miner and even his whole crew.
On one fateful day, their approach masked by the solid tap-tap of Drulthulds
crew, a band of Duergar approached. The fighting was fierce and bloody,
Svirfnebli are no match for a savage band of Duergar. Leaving the carnage
behind, the Duergar raiders gathered the valuables and a hand full of
prisoners and headed back to their foul city. Now a prisoner of one of the
most foul races of Thera, Drulthuld was beaten, tortured and forced into hard
labour. For the first few months Drulthuld watched as many slaves died,
their broken bodies unable to withstand the constant torture, hard work, and
measly food. Showing no concern for the dying, the Duergar always seemed to
gather more slaves to replace them. For many years he toiled under the ever
watchful eyes of the evil, sadistic slavers. Most of the slaves were put to
mining, as Duergar themselves do not mine, they force others to do it for
them. Some slaves, managed to harden over time, their bodies able to
withstand the brutality, and find a will to survive. Drulthuld was one such
man.

The will to survive, was equally matched with the will to escape. The tap of
picks and hammers mingled with the crack of the whips, a kind of sadistic
hypnotic rhythm that drowned out the sorrow. Drulthuld sensed a nearby gas
pocket and tunneled in that direction. A massive explosion of rock and gas
followed by a cave in fell on the slaves and slavers. Many were killed and
Drulthuld was able to escape in the confusion. Traveling the subterranean
depths for some time, Drulthuld was able to use his inherent ability to
sense direction to find his way home. For many months Drulthuld recovered
from his time spent in captivity. Eventually he joined a crew of miners to
continue his life and put the past behind him. Drulthuld soon realized that
the enclosed space of the mines and his home caves caused him much pain and
anguish with memories that he could not come to terms with. Drulthuld
decided to leave Lower Cragstone, He traveled to Upper Cragstone where he
ventured outside in the openness for the first time in his life. Drulthuld
slowly found peace in himself, wandering the wild lands of Thera. Listening
to the sounds of the wilds, the wind and rain, a whole new world was there
for Drulthuld to explore. He was ready.

The pain of the past has now turned into hope for the future of not only
Drulthuld, but the rest of the natural world. Drulthuld has found a new home
amongst the branches of the mighty tree in the forest of Prosimy called the
Refuge. It took a long time for Drulthuld to realize his true destiny. Many
things helped him on his way. He was disturbed and felt much pain and
anguish when he saw the visions on the ancient stones showing the war of the
Sylvans and the slaughter that befell them. He traveled with some wilderness
types, who also shunned civilization and spoke of the ragged band of people
trying to bring the return of Thar-eris. Drulthuld spoke to the mighty
Harbinger, a massive giant that towered over him. He learned the ways of the
Outlanders, who they thought of as defilers and the Empire the Tribinals that
they hunted. Drulthuld was given a branch and started on his journey as a
Sentinel of Thar-eris. Drulthuld has slowly become comfortable with his new
skills as a warrior and is traveling with others of the refuge and bringing
the fight to the defilers while also finding like minded people that may one
day feel the calling of Thar-eris.
