Description
A towering beast of a giant stands before you, a blur of fiery red hair
and bloody dirt-stained skin. He wears a patchwork of dragon-bone armors
with leather slabs wrapped tightly between each gap, all showing much
signs of wear. Various cracks, gashes, even a few broken teeth suggest
a history of hard-fought battles. Every bit of exposed flesh appears to be
covered in a fine red fuzz, beneath which is layers of scars. His grin
displays several teeth replaced crudely with jewels that glint in the light.

The sound of breaking chains ring in the distance.
A ferocious roar echoes through the cavernous tunnels of the Underdark,
followed by the quaking steps of a massive beast making its way to the
surface of Thera...
Meanwhile, escorted by four elite soldiers, the drow Slavemaster reluctantly
enters the First House of Teth Azeleth, anticipating his punishment. They
march toward the Matron Mother's chamber as spiders scatter, watching
anxiously from the surrounding shadows. They pause, kneeling before the High
Priestess.
The drow sergeant steps forward, nodding hastily toward the Slavemaster,
"We've brought him for his time of reckoning, Priestess, as the Mother
demands."
The Priestess grins, closing her eyes in sinister concentration. The
Slavemaster hunches over, groaning in pain as oozing sores erupt from his
skin.
"Oh yes, it would seem our Slavemaster has failed to be the master after all.
What to do with you, hmmm? Our Matron Mother shall decide."
She cackles manically, waving a long delicate arm toward the Mother's
Chamber, "Bring him before Her then, let his fate be determined."
The soldiers grow nervous. Cautiously carrying the Slavemaster to the
doorway, they quickly lob him into the cold shadowed chamber where an obscure
figure stands waiting. They turn immediately, hastily marching away.
The Mother's deathly screams echo from the depths of the First House through
the streets of Teth Azeleth, "You were to serve as master over that beast of a
giant, harness him as my weapon, you fool! He was the slave, now you are too
weak to master anything at all!"
"Priestess!" she continued yelling. "Bring this wretched fool to the
Weaponmaster for some...justice. And alert the guards that our most powerful
beast has escaped. We had better prepare for the time when he will return for
his revenge", a hint of dread in her voice.
Moments later, screams of tortured agony emanate from the First House, the
Slavemaster no longer the one doing the torturing.
...And toward the northern edge of the Underdark, a massive fire giant
ascends into the light of day for the first time.
Free at last. Though not for long...
Chapter 1: The Massacre of Darsylon
Added Thu Jul 20 12:05:54 2017 at level 51:
Dzooka stormed to the surface of Thera, tearing through the city streets,
feasting like never before, a ruthless display of ravaging force. Then,
almost as quick as his freedom had come, an army of elite elven guards
managed to pin down Dzooka and lock him up. From slave to prisoner in a
matter of hours, he was sentenced to life, left to be forgotten, bound in
magical chains in a cell enclosed by mithril bars that were thicker than a
human torso.
For two days, ferocious roars echoed from the elven prison, the beast Dzooka
thrashed about like a wild animal. Yet the cell bars held firm.
Then, in the darkness of the second eve, a strange thing happened. A
floating form appeared from nowhere, hovering in the darkness of his cell. At
first it seemed an illusion, he would later come to know this creature as a
Nightwalker.
It spoke thoughts directly to his mind without saying any words aloud. It
conveyed simply and repeatedly that Dzooka must grow ever stronger, that in
time no chains would be able to bind him. It told him to train. It showed him
a vision of a gargoyle in a Temple. It taught him to fight.
And so it was that each night in pitch blackness Dzooka trained against the
hovering form of the Nightwalker, mastering the art of combat, first with
bare hands and later with slats from his bunk that sufficed as practice
weapons. For hours each eve he would test his muscles against the chains,
building strength through their resistance. Until one day he was finally
strong enough that truly no chains could hold him.
One pitch black night, nearly two years after being captured, Dzooka stronger
than he had ever been, the Nightwalker signaled that it was time. Dzooka
strained with all his might, slowly each chain link bent and shattered. Then
again with the bars of his cell, he simply bent which seemingly could not
possibly be physically bent, a sheer act of will. The beast was truly free
and the elves...oh the elves they did pay!
The massacre of Darsylon ended before dawn. As the sun began to rise, the
beast Dzooka was seen headed toward the glowing horizon framed by the
crashing waves of the Dragon sea, following a distant nightwalker toward the
Temple of the Scarabs.
