Description

A swarthy human stands here, impeccably dressed in troubadour's motley of saffron and sable. Tasteful, yet not ostentatious, he keeps a well-trimmed goatee and short cropped hair. His lean body is unmarred by deformity or injury, and his hands bear the callouses of one trained in both the blade, and the zither. Attentive brown eyes regard the world with curiosity, and occasionally his grip idly shifts on his weapon, as if to test the fingering on an instrument.

For centuries, House Rassalon has remained a noble house of little
significance in the courts of Hamsah Mu'tazz. Comfortable in their standing,
the patriarchs of this line have dutifully maintained the status quo, loyal
servants to the Sultan. Enter Ergoth, the youngest son of Patriarch Menvas
Rassalon, a careless afterthought so unimportant that he is without duty or
inheritance.

His base needs amply provided for by his priviledged upbringing, he became
keenly aware of an absence deep within his soul. As he grew from a child into
a man, he sought to fill this void with scholastic pursuits, finding some
small comfort in the eloquence of logic and verse. Still, it was not enough -
a talented artisan though he might be, it is all for naught if his works
serve no purpose. He languished in loathing, cruelly hating both himself and
a world in which he could find no meaning or purpose.

He eventually came to hear whisperings of Lord Destuvius, and entranced by
the notion of the Grand Order, sought to find his place within its designs.

Critique on Imperial Order

The Empire is a delicate symphony, a beautiful construct whose harmony we
must take great care to maintain the lest it fall to discordant chaos. I have
noticed a trend within the Empire, where personal strength is valued over
effective communication. Let me preface this by saying that communication is
the lifeblood of any collaborative effort, for by it directives and
information are circulated to ensure the health of the whole. A failure in
communication - or worse yet, destructive communication - can poison the
efforts of our great Empire.

It is all well and good to have strong, competent Citizens but we are
cheapened for our inability to effectively collaborate. The Empire as it
stands is a slipshod cuckoo clock assembled from high quality titanium -the
pieces may be independently quite good, but for lack of proper assemblage,
they cheapen and mar one another in their collective grinding. Petty
squabbles between Blades who think that the Shadows are cowards, and the
Shadows who think that the Blades are impatient taffers are
counterproductive.

I propose the solution that only a servant can offer: Dominate not in
command, but in service. He who facilitates victory in collaboration expands
his capacity for service in the future, and will be looked upon as a leader
among men. Leave the posturing and tournament displays for savage apes in the
wild. You are a slave, start acting like it. Submit, and be elevated.
