Description

Massive would be the only word to describe this human. A large, bald, head sits atop the thick neck and a scruffy beard runs the outline of the face. Dark eyes are sunk back in their sockets and a thin crocked nose leans to the left just a bit. No mouth can be seen due to the tangle of hair around it, but surely there must be one there. Shoulders like a small giant and arms to match its hard to tell where one muscle ends and another begins. One hand alone could crush a gnome and they are no stranger to use. A chest the size of a large barrel sits on a slim washboard waste. His legs are like tree trunks and muscle protrudes out around the armor protecting them. Long calves and two long feet keep the fine specimen of a human upright.

Role

A new beginning

Erkad began his life in the training school for the wall sentries of Galadon.
Eager to learn the ways of fighting Erkad did well in his training and soon
Gained a spot on the evening watch. It took only months for Erkad to see
What was happening around him. The mayor of Galadon was cutting back
The sentries to pour money into the schools of magic, in hopes to protect
The city even better. Bothered by the fact that magic could never be stronger
Than the will of a warrior Erkad began to speak out. His words feel on deaf
Ears but his actions drew much unwanted attention. After some time Erkad
Accepted that the ways would not change and so he turned away from
Orderly society and began traveling the land on his own.

Coming to grips

Traveling the world of Thera alone was enlightening but Erkads now chaotic
Soul sought more. Erkad needed a place to call home and he longed to stand
Watch over his home as he used to over Galadon. With his hatred of the guilds
Of magic for his inevitable fall from service Erkad found solace in the words of
Tahren, a Noldarian smith in service to the Village of the BattleRagers. With
The tale of the betrayal of the anti-magic army being told to him Erkad heard
His own lifes story being told. Without hesitation Erkad swore his oath
To the village and to defend it with his very life if needed. Erkad had found
A way to rid the world of the devious mages and their arts and also a possible
Place he could call home. Erkad set out to find those of the village and any
Words written about the village.

First watch

Being allowed to build a hut in the Village of the Battleragers Erkad takes his
Turn at the night watch. The first few days of his new life are hard and battles
Are won and lost but the experience of each makes him stronger and wiser.
The magi of Thera are great in number and their demise will not come as easily
As he thought. Erkads life has truly changed from the lazy days on Galadons walls,
But it has changed for the better. Only time now can shape the future and Erkad 
Looks forward to his new sentry post.

Tahrens wisdom

With Erkads future unfolding in the stars his place along the fortified wall of the
Village grows confusing. Erkad once again turns to Tahren. This time Tahren gives
Erkad words of wisdom instead of a task. The words spoken are the comparison of
the body to that of raw material. Like the ore dug out of the land a body and its soul
must be forged, Tahren says. Tahrens tale of temperament and resolve gives Erkad 
the inspiration he needs. Though still unsure of its true meaning Erkad knows that his 
past has made him who he is but an unknown future and perhaps even a rare
prophecy will shape him into something new.

Braking tradition

Erkad has learned that the Village walls have stood the test of time and what makes
the Village are its huts and the bravest of warriors that live among them. Races 
throughout the land of Thera coming together to seek the annihilation of magic.
Races bringing their skills and knowledge of battle together to strengthen the 
Village and ensure its future. Erkad is jealous of these warriors. Their knowledge  
of battle is far beyond the young humans. With Tahrens words fresh in his mind 
Erkad sees the opportunity for change. Erkad steps down from his post. Walking 
to his hut at the base of the wall Erkad enters and stares at the massive pike 
leaning against the rear support. Erkad takes the pike in his hands and breaks it 
in two over his knee. Wielding the pike, given to each sentry on day one of their 
training, is the last step to mastering a cities defenses. Erkad will take his post no 
more. Erkad must leave the walls of the Village and strike out at the sources of 
magic. Once the sources of magic have been destroyed and the last magi lay a 
corpse beneath his feet, only then will the Village be safe, forever immune to magic.
Erkad will seek to learn all he can from the other Villagers and learn more of the 
Noldarian Smiths. In time perhaps he will come to understand Tahrens words but 
for now there is much to be learned from the many races that call the Village home.
